It is a charming hideaway, unique design which artfully blends modern & traditional elements.
The room have a private verandas and views of tropical landscape and magical rice paddies.
Villa Surya is located in the village of Canggu which is unique for it's mixture of christian and balinese cultures and religions. surrounded by rice fields, so you have an insight into people's everyday life.
Be a spectator of the ceremonies taking place near Villa Surya.
Take a stroll through the village and experience traditional Balinese ceremonies and cultures.
Listen to the melodies of the gamelan orchestras and enjoy the gracious balinese dancers. You might well be fortunate to be the only visitor there at the time.
Walk through the rice fields, and enjoy the spectacular views of the near mountains.
A short distance away is the famous Echo Beach where you can ride the world class surf waves or simply admire the spectacular sunsets.
Located just 30 min from International Airport and 20 min from the most stylish boutiques, restaurants and the hottest bars of Seminyak.
Villa Surya is an excellent base camp for excursions. Take 10 mins drive from Echo Beach and visit one of Bali's most famous temples, Tanah Lot 35 minute, 1 hour from Ubud.
Place is good . I would advice you NOT TO BOOK their tour with MADE, he will just take you to the worst places of Bali and you will pay SO MUCH !!!
We had a great vacation in this villa. The staff was gentle and organized and the location comfortable. No so far from Kuta and just 10min from the beach by motorcycle. We have found right what we wanted. Enjoy Bali. CIAO
I spent a really good time in this comfortable and quiet room. Beautiful place and warm welcome. I recommend to go.
Morgan's place was mostly a disappointment. The bed linens were not clean at all and in fact smelled very bad. The entire place had a bit of an odor to it and the location is absolutely terrible (definitely NOT in Kuta) if you don't have access to a car or a scooter. You can rent scooters from them, but if you don't know how to ride one, or don't know where you're going, there isn't much point in it.
We had booked the required two nights, but left after the first. We are avid travelers and frequent airbnb'ers, and found this place to not be at all what we were looking forward to after reading the other reviews. This place feels more like a grungy backpacker's hostel than anything else. That being said, the breakfast was tasty!
This place was beautifully designed and exactly what I paid for.......low cost accommodation. However it is much further away from the village of Canngu then the map suggests - over 4km north from Jalan Raya Canngu. There is little in the way of other services around and you will either need to rely on taxis or get a scooter.
Left my positive review under ' bungalow at the ricefield'
Staying at Morgans place was great. Everything is beautifully designed and looks just like in the pictures. It has a very relaxing atmosphere and so are the people that work there. Very kind and always smiling.
The first night the turning knob from the shower fell off.. (I thought I had to keep on turning to get hot water, but apparently you have to wait a little for it. So I felt kind of guilty). The guys that work there helped us right away and they even let us pick another room. Which also was a pretty fine room.
The first day we got a map and they rented us a bike. Morgan gave tips and explained to us that the roads aren't straight, but off course we drove around like morons and got lost, luckily the upside is that we did a little sightseeing. Get to know Canggu.
Once you know where to go the beaches, Seminyak, banks, shops and pertol stations are very close. (Note: When you go to the petrol-station and pay they round up the amounts, they are not very precise so sometimes we had to pay less and sometimes a little more. So you don't have be precise either.)
For a good price you can easily surf as a beginner at Echo Beach but you can also go to other beaches. If you did lots off things during the day you can go back home to relax and have some drinks by the pool overlooking the ricefields (while petting the cutest dog) or have a swim. Don't be too enthusiastic with the air-conditioning, because it works good and you'll get cold during the night. After three days our next adventure was about to begin and they called a driver for us who was kind and told us nice stories about Bali and about himself. We had a hard time saying goodbye to this place. Thanks again and till next time!
Overall this is a good place to stay. The room is clean, the AC works well, the hot water too (but you have to wait maybe a minute before it gets hots but after that it works perfectly). The garden is beautiful and looks exactly like on the pictures! The swimming pool is clean and nice even though it was a bit too chill to swim a long time.
The staff is friendly. You can wash your clothes easily and also hire a motorbike for 5 USD which is pretty convenient.
But there is some things that surprised us a bit:
. The location of the house is not the same as what's shown on air bnb website. It's way more up north so it was really confusing to find the place. It usually takes more around 30 min to reach town than 15 min (due to traffic)
. Our room was located on the ground floor so we could hear everything from the room that was beside ours. Even the restrooms of our neighbors...
. The staff booked us a cab which was actually a driver without any license that tried to cheat us and brang us around town even though we had a GPS and that we spoke indonesian... He even tried to drive us in a small street to make sure that we pay... Kinda dangerous but anyway I made the driver stop in front of the police so that he freaked out a bit. So here's an advice, book a cab by yourself by calling a trustworthy company and not some freelance drivers that try to cheat you! I really almost got into a fight with this driver! Seems like the staff will not help you book a "real" cab because they have some agreements with some other "companies" so just be careful! (Actually they wanted to book a cab for us to go to Ubud for 250000 rupiah but actually with the meter it only cost 180000... I guess they get some kind of commission from the drivers.
. The staff forgot to lock our room after cleaning. Nothing happened but we were not really pleased with that...
. While filling the gas for our motorcycle, we gave money to the staff. We gave him way too much for full tank (we wanted to give him the rest as a tip...)but actually we realised that he kept some of the money and the tank was just half filled...
So to sum up, this place is pretty good and cheap but just be careful on some aspects otherwise you could get easily cheated!
One of the best places to stay in Bali. Really nice rooms lovely decorated, nice staff and beautifull landscape around the place. The pool and the lounge area really helps to meet many nice people...
Great neighborhood, peaceful surroundings, excellent service! Morgan was very helpful with suggestions of where to visit, and the most cost-effective ways to do so.
