About this listing
Private home this is not a narrow shotgun tho it was built during that period. Large outdoor spaces, open floor plan.
Completely remodeled Bouligny plantation slave house just 2 blocks off the Mississippi. Open concept, brand new furniture throughout - this is a camelback double-wide so it is a house behind the front house - in the middle of everything but completely private front deck and back patio area. You can fall asleep to the sound of trains and boats up and down the Mississippi river, and the music from Tipitinas famous jazz club is nearby but not loud.
We've put together a list of all the spots locals love and tourists don't know about.
We are solid five-star rated on (website hidden). (website hidden)
We have set our home up in every way so that the guest comes away with the experience of having LIVED in New Orleans. It is a profoundly unique city and sadly most visitors never make it beyond the French Quarter and miss out on a wealth of beauty and experience. Specifically, the size, condition, and the abundance of TWO private spaces in the heart of the city are virtually unheard of.
Everything is private to guests. The house is a double so the front is a permanent tenant. Once you open the gate, everything from there on back including the front porch and back deck are exclusive to the guest.
Interaction with Guests
Keyless entry, so mostly via text and my assistant Shinda unless some need arises.
The Bouligny Plantation neighborhood is an area of Uptown three blocks south of Magazine Street and a short walk up Napolean Avenue to the streetcar.
Bus right at the corner tho most guests prefer to use the streetcar, goes direct to Bourbon Street.
Other Things to Note
We have the fastest WiFi available in New Orleans and our WiFi signal is strong enough to stream full screen HD anywhere in or outside the house, very convenient for those working while away. Rouses grocery store is 1/2 a block away, not even worth getting in a car for if you bring one. Easy, quiet, true New Orleans living, steps from everything.
Make yourself at home
Enjoy the outdoor spaces
Cook - help yourself to any food or drink left behind
Groups to 4 people (as there is only 1 bathroom)
Smoking permitted outdoors only (sand pits are on front porch and back patio) - absolutely NO smoking by the open window
Sleeping not permitted on the leather sofa (it stretches out the leather, plus we have a very nice air mattress)
About the Host, Enzo
Ex-travel journalist, David and I used to home trade around the world for 11 years. People loved our hometrading stories and often couldn't home trade themselves but still want that experience of actually living in a real neighborhood, food shopping and cooking, things you can't normally do on vacation. We also make sure all our guests are as hooked up as they can be, including restaurants and clubs most tourists don't know exist. I have a food blog that moves mostly between SF and New Orleans.
