Come stay with me (and my cat) in the best location in Tel Aviv-Yafo, where Jewish and Arab cultures mix, where the city never goes to sleep, where you'll enjoy the craziness of Tel Aviv as well as the ancient charm of Yafo.
You will enjoy your own room and restroom, and shared kitchen and bathroom.
Staying with me is meant mostly for people who want to meet locals and experience the Tel Aviv life, and less for people who are loners... If you wish and I have the time - I will show you around and share with you some Tel Aviv Yafo secrets :)
I am a Hebrew teacher, so if you have any interest, I am always happy to share some linguistic knowledge.
Contact me for further details.
Just to make things clear:
My apartment has 3 main spaces: a big spacious living room area, my bedroom, a main bathroom, another small toilet, and the guest room where you will be staying.
The small room has a single bed, and is mostly meant for sleeping, it is not the type of room to stay the whole day in.
There are two balconies facing the flea market where the real life takes place.
More info about the area:
The Yafo flea market just across the street is a cool place to spend a weekday morning (for a calm hangout and shopping) or a Friday morning (for the same experience but hectic and very busy). In the evening it becomes the new hip area of Tel Aviv with restaurants, bars and cafes. Gentrified is the word I guess, but still in quite a tolerable way.
During the months of July and August there is a night market every Thursday.
If you cross the street to the other side you are at the Jaffa old city with its breathtaking small alleys, newly developed port, art galleries, the best Hummus in Israel and an amazing view of Tel Aviv.
Near the clock tower (2 minute walk) built in the Ottoman period, you can enjoy Abulafia bakery famous pastries (basically dough and some more dough), a shawarma at Doctor Shakshouka (believed to currently be the best Shawarma in town), or good coffee at Rogette's coffee place.
If you are hungry or need a fruit shake or a cigarette at 4am, it's all there 24/7. (even on Yom Kippur, Yafo has some open shops).
If you go deeper into Yafo where the population is mostly Arab, you will get a feel of a real Palestinian town with shops and restaurants and also.. driving culture.
And this is just whats to do in the really very near surrounding... there is of course a whole lot more and Tel Aviv is only 10 minute walk away...
I'll be happy to show you around (in case we have a common language of course) in the evenings or weekends, and not only the beautiful sides. Seeing the poor foreign-workers quarter with all the African refugees, Filipinos and Chinese is also interesting if you ask me... but it's up to you of course :)
Check out the flea market in Jaffa on Google you will get a good sense about the place...
My place is 5 minute walk fro Jaffa's main junction, where all the buses pass. Very easy to go from here to almost everywhere in the Tel Aviv district, and to the central bus and train station to get anywhere you need in Israel or the airport.
Other Things to Note
Make sure you are not allergic to cats :)
The only rule is to be yourself and come with good intentions :) If you are a considerate person, I am sure we both will have a great time.
About the Host, Or
I love having guests and showing them what this city and country have to offer, and it is quite a lot for such a tiny place. I see Airbnb as more than just a platform to rent out a room. I have made many new friends through this site, and I am always ready to make new ones. That is why I usually offer my guests, besides the regular guest needs, also a window to my life here and try to share, if interested of course, my knowledge and experience so that you as a guest will also get to know this place. Officially I am a Hebrew teacher and would also love to share any language knowledge if you are interested.
I love to cook and eat great foods from everywhere.
I would travel to Bangkok now just to eat Som-Tum and khao moo kratiem! (that would be one helluva expensive rice dish, if i do that).
Come visit us ( thats's me and Buzhi my cat) at the best urban location in Israel where the sun always shines, even in December. Well, not always but usually :)
