I have rented Kim’s apartment for two weeks for my parents (my husband, daughter and me joined them for only a few days).
Kim is such a lovely lady and has been great. She even picked my parents up from the airport and drove them there when leaving. She has been sharing everything with us and has been very kind.
One big minus I need to mention is that both the kitchen (and fridge) were shared with Kim and her husband. Not that they have disturbed us, but while booking this place it was nowhere mentioned that the apartment is actually only the upper floor of a house and was shared with the owners. I expected an apartment for us only. That Kim and her husband lived downstairs and had to come upstairs to cook was not something I (we) expected. If advertised as an apartment, is has to be separated fully.
Also the cleanness of the apartment was a bit questionable – but that might by my Swiss expectations, but walking through an apartment smelling odors of cooked rice and a dog was not always very nice….
In regards to the place, it is very nice and spacious and is constructed with much love. It has two bedrooms which are quite big, but for two families having only one bathroom to share is a bit tight. In addition, I would suggest providing some space for the cloths to hang / fold and have all personal clothing removed – guest might feel awkward and the visit feels more like crashing a friends place than actually renting an apartment which does not come cheap.
But all in all, the place is lovely and Kim and her husband are very kind always ready to help and making sure to feel like home.
Thank you Kim for everything and wishing you all the best.
With warm regards, Mia, Andrew and Liv.
In response to your review, I shall clarify a few things.
First of all, your stay was brief and your perspectives were not the same as your parents. Your parents hugged and repeatedly thanked me when we said good bye to each other at the airport. They would recommend my place and had asked whether they could give my contact to their friends
Your mom was so happy when Greg had bought and installed a new TV in her bedroom so that she didn't have to deal with stairs going up and down to the TV in our family room in low unit. She told me many times that my house was too big , too spacious ; she's used to her apartment living in Switzerland.
Cleanliness is a degree of tolerant. My scale for the opposite is low , partly of my culture and upbringing. I keep my place immaculate( as shown on the web). I ask visitor and guest leave their shoes and provide them indoor slippers. Therefore I strongly disagree with your comments that include Mr Boo our little french bulldog. If you thought he was smelly, why would you seek ad ask whereabout for your daughter cuddling and loving him?
LIke wise, the upper unit you had seen on the web was exactly the way it was - had two bedrooms, a bathroom , living room, breakfast room, dining room ad kitchen. You should have booked elsewhere if one bathroom didn't catered to your need.
Lastly, the concept of Airbnb is sharing. Homeowners are encouraged to rent their unused space or room. It seems hotel would be a fit to you , then you would only see your personal things, not someone else.
I am a Airbnb host since Feb. I am so happy and proud of being their member, and their concept of sharing. Many guests thanked me for opening up my home to them.
I take pride in my doing.
Kim and Greg were wonderful hosts and helped us navigate the Richmond neighborhood. They were incredibly friendly while also giving us plenty of privacy and space. They have a lovely home that they have put tremendous amounts of TLC into. As a carpenter, I was truly impressed by the woodwork that Greg did. We loved Mr. Boo, the French Bulldog too.
The location, quality of home, convenience to all locations in SF made this a must stay place.
We enjoyed our stay at Kim and Greg's place. Beautiful space and convenient location. Add to that our hosts kindness and attentiveness were unparalleled. Made for a wonderful stay.
Kim and her husband are great hosts. The house is extremely comfortable, full of natural light and perfectly located to explore the city. They shared tea and snacks, their knowledge of the city and even started up the fireplace for us on chilly day. Hope to stay again soon!
My mom and I had two great days in Kim's house. The house is large and the dog Boo is really cute. The main door and the stairs are beautiful. Free parking is really nice. Also, it is not far from the Golden Gate Park and the University of San Francisco is near by. Kim also asked us to have dinner with her and her family. She chat with us and told us many useful information about San Francisco. Her Chinese is really well. The room is large and with lovely sofa and anime picture on the wall. I really suggest you to book her room. It's nice!
