Great location close to Magic Sands beach, very convenient. Can be surprisingly noisy on occasion from traffic but generally ok. We were woken up one morning by a truck using airbrakes which was shocking, but not typical likely, only happened once in 5 days. Host is very responsive and corrected a couple of small issues very quickly. Cleanliness could be improved a bit specifically in the kitchen, where roaches were a bit of a nuisance. We understand they're common and part of life in this area but we thought that a more thorough cleaning prior to our arrival would have helped. It did get better during our stay as we were very careful to remove all attractants and kept all food in the fridge (including cereal, crackers, etc). The bathroom is large and clean. The unit has a private entrance off to one side of the garage which was really nice, with a small covered outdoor area good for drying clothes on the provided rack. Coin operated washing machine and dryer is convenient, taking 8 quarters each.

Mary's place is a great home base for Kona. The space is wonderfully decorated, very comfortable and provides easy access to many of the attractions on the west side of the island. Magic Sands beach is a short walk as well as Kahaluu Beach. The space has a private entrance and a beautiful serene outdoor space for relaxing. Communication was prompt and easy - Mary even loaned me a boogie board. Loved the stay and it was a great value. There is a shopping center a mile and a half away and a few gems like Da Poke Shack and TJ's BBQ a short drive. It's about 4 miles to Kailua Bay.

Excellent location and price! Very short walk to Magic Sands and another great bay where you can snorkel. Clean and quiet. With small kitchen w/stove and fridge and all the amenities provided so was convenient to prep a meal. Although no AC, it was very comfortable with the fan provided and the many screened windows. Mary was super nice and accommodating. Would definitely stay here again!

Mary's place is fantastic! It's a 5 minute walk to White Sands Beach and a 10 minute drive to downtown Kona. If you want complete privacy but still want to be close to where it all happens, THIS is the place you want to book. Everything was clean and it is fully stocked to cook meals if you want to save yourself money for adventures. Mahalo Mary!

I have lived on the beautiful Kona coast on the Big Island of Hawaii for over twenty-five years. For twenty years I lived on a coffee farm in rural Honaunau on the lush slopes of Mauna Loa and produced delicious, world class Kona coffee. I have worked as an educator both in the USA and abroad and love to travel and meet new people from different cultures. I am co-owner of an import business in Kailua-Kona which features furniture, handicrafts, and decorator items from my travels to China, India, Bali, Thailand, and other parts of Southeast Asia and the Pacific. For the past five years I have lived near the ocean by Magic Sands Beach. I have loved the ocean and water sports since I was a small child.
