Opal and her husband were wonderful hosts so we had a great stay! Awesome apartment on a beautiful quiet block and fabulous location. It was the perfect first AIRbnb experience!
Apartment is clean and comfortable, nice neighbourhood, subway station less than 5 minutes walking. I highly recommend it.
We stayed here for two months and had a wonderful time. Opal and her husband are great hosts and we felt comfortable all the time. The area is very nice, safe and in walking distance to Columbia University. The subway is just two blocks away with two express lines (A & D) that bring you easely to Downtown. All in all we had a perfect stay and we would recommend the appartment to everyone!!!
Opal's apartment is very nice, and there's even a garden outside of the window and you can hear the babbling fountain as you go to sleep.
Unfortunately, I had the bad luck of staying there during the NYC summer heat wave, and without an air-conditioning unit, it was quite unbearable. Opal was nice enough to provide me with a fan, and I found myself running back and forth between the shower and the fan, all in a bid to cool down.
I would not recommend someone to stay here in the summer ( especially if there is a heat wave going on ) without an air-conditioning unit. I can't say for the other seasons as I did not stay there during those times.
Hopefully with an air-conditioning unit, this apartment would be suitable for stay in the summer. It really was quite nice otherwise as it is big and near the restaurants, and Columbia University, which was where I needed to be during my stay.
Hi Tze, It was a pleasure to have you stay with us. I'm truly sorry that you had an unbearable experience. Our apartment was offered at $120 per night which is incredibly cheap for a private apartment in NYC. If we offered air conditioning, we would need to increase the price. In fact, in the past, we offered complimentary air conditioning and we found that our renters left it running even when they were not home. This led to outsized electricity bills which did not justify the cost of the rental. I wish that everyone were mindful enough to use the air-conditioning in a conscientious manner, unfortunately, this was our experience. Please note that we offer to place air-conditioning units in the apartment to those renters who stay for 30 days or more since we are able to provide a separate electricity bill for the apartment and that amenity. The renter is then responsible for the bill for their 30 day stay and they only pay for the energy they consume.
We had a really nice stay at Opal's apartment. We felt completely comfortable. Really nice and big apartment, even bigger than on the pictures. Located in a really nice neighborhood and very close to the subway. Opal and her husband we're great hosts and responsive to every matter.
We had a wonderful time staying in Opal's apartment, even though we spent little time there. It was perfect for our needs.... quiet, clean, bright. Walking in the area felt safe.
We were surprised to find out that only one toilet paper role is supplied.....perhaps this is an East Coast "norm", but we had to supply our own for the rest of the week.
Thank you for the wonderful stay.
We had a wonderful time at opal ' s place. I traveled with my teenage daughter and her friend and we felt completely safe in the neighborhood.
I highly recommend this apartment:)
We had a great time at Opal's apt during our stay in NY.
The location was super convinience to get the heart of the city and Opal was so nice to us. She left a piece of paper including so much information about neighbors in Harlem.
We deff would like to stay her place again:)
