About this listing
Private apartment in a 1900 New England Colonial with some modern flair. Located in the urban Valley Neighborhood (just shy of the Arts District).
Cozy, inviting and spacious private apartment:
There is 1 bedroom with a comfy double platform bed, a living/dining area with a sofa bed that opens to a queen with memory foam mattress and 1 bonus room with a new twin bed. So in all there is sleeping space for 5.
The apartment also has new appliances in a fully equipped kitchen if you prefer to forego the AMAZING cuisine of Portland and cook a cozy meal in your apartment. The bathroom has a small claw foot tub/shower combo (so very Maine).
Ample, free on-street parking.
* This is a non-smoking building, strictly enforced.
*Well behaved non-shedding, hypoallergenic dog welcome for an additional $10 per night collected at time of check in.
You will have your own private apartment, accessed through the rear entrance. And feel free to use the garden area with an outdoor table, tiki torches, fire pit and seating. ~ but no smoking please.
Interaction with Guests
As little or as much as you like!
This urban neighborhood is 3/4 of a mile from the Arts District and 1 mile beyond that to the Old Port via Downtown. Easily drive, taxi, bus or (my favorite) walk or bike... I highly recommend exploring Portland & the nearby beaches via bike.
The Valley is an eclectic neighborhood adjoining the western edge of the west end. Its a mixed residential/business neighborhood with very easy access to downtown, the arts district, the Sea Dogs stadium, Deering Oaks park, I-295 & THE HOLY DONUT :)
Driving is easy in Portland and especially from this apartment but if you would like an alternative, There is a bus stop a few feet away that will have you downtown in 5 minutes. There is a nearby bike shop that rents for $25/day or a $7 cab ride will have you in the Old Port in a flash.
And then there's my personal favorite means of transportation: Walking!...a 15 minute walk can land you in the Arts District, another 10 you'll be in downtown and another 5 you'll be in the Old Port.
Other Things to Note
No offense to smokers but this is a completely smoke-free property.
~No smoking inside or in common use outside area.
~The building is shared with one other vacation rental (in a separate, private apartment) so please be respectful of noise levels. Quiet hours 11pm-7am
~Towels, fresh linens on the beds, a roll of toilet paper & basic kitchen items are provided (pretty much everything you'd need to make any number of meals). Plus a few spices, an assortment of teas & coffee. However, please be prepared to supply your own additional paper products, spices, extra towels or anything else you may feel would make your stay that much more comfortable.
It's very important to me that you enjoy your visit so please don't hesitate to contact me for any reason during your stay. I'm happy to help in any way I am able. :)
I'm originally from San Francisco, lived many years in and around Boulder Colorado and now live in Portland enjoying "the way life should be" (Maine's motto...and I really can't argue). I have a 24 year old son and a 5 year old daughter whom I adore. Some of my favorite pastimes are learning French & piano, outdoor yoga, breezy bike rides & taking long walks both in nature and cities. I love what I do for work and strive to make each day an adventure. :)
