About this listing

Cozy yet spacious private apartment in a 1900 New England Colonial with some modern flair. Located in the Valley Neighborhood 1 mile from downtown. 5 min. walk to Bunker Brewery, Salvage bbq & live music, & Seadogs Stadium. 15 min walk to the Arts District & West End or a 10 min. walk in the other direction gets you to the newly fab Thompson's Point where you'll find riverside concerts in the summer, ice skating in the winter & year round: a brand new brewery, wine bar, food trucks and more!

The space

Please note: *The 2nd bedroom is not available during cold months as it doesn't have a separate heater.

This cheerful and bright private apartment is located in an urban, central Portland neighborhood between the West End & Libbytown ~ Close to fantastic restaurants, shops, galleries, cafes, walking trails & beaches plus only a 7 minute drive to the airport and a 5 minute walk to either the train or bus station. Ample (free) parking and super easy to zip in and out of town or cross town, avoiding traffic because it's very near to I-295. But have no fear, you cannot see or hear the highway from inside the apartment and even the main street that it's located on calms WAY down at night, offering a restful stay.

The Arts District/Downtown is less than 1 mile away & the Old Port is just beyond that about another 3/4 mile.

The building is a 1900 New England colonial with some modern & whimsical flair. The apartment is one of only 2 units in the building. Both are used as vacation rentals. This unit is on the 2nd floor and should be noted that it's accessed by a somewhat narrow staircase (should limited mobility be an issue).

My home is the house next door so if you need advice on what to explore or have any other questions feel free to call on me.

The apartment has 1 bedroom with a double bed, a separate living/dining area and 1 bonus room w/a twin bed (not available during cold weather months).

There is also a fully equipped kitchen with new appliances, a large flat screen tv with Netflix and cable, a full (yet small) bathroom with a cute claw foot tub/shower combo (very Maine), a funky little tree house looking enclosed 3 season porch off the kitchen, and outside is a small patio with seating & tiki torches. There is ample, free on-street parking.

* With no offense to smokers, this is a NON-smoking property ~ strictly enforced.

Thanks so much!

We arrived much later than we intended to because of traffic; Chaning was flexible and able to greet us and show us around the apartment around midnight. The parking was a bit tricky since there was construction on the street and no dedicated spots to park, but it was short walk to the house (although very dark at night, bring a flashlight!). The apartment was perfect for three people. I was traveling with a couple and they were able to have a room to themselves, as did I. Great location in Portland. I look forward to hopefully staying here again soon!

This place was very cozy and charming. We walked to several restaurants and downtown several times. Parking was plentiful and it was easy to get anywhere in Portland or South Portland. Chaning also provided great recommendations on the listing's page, and there were other resources in the AirBNB.

Great 2-bedroom apartment that made a lovely home base for our stay for the Maine Coast Half Marathon. Close to downtown Portland and easily walkable with good weather. The water pressure is great, beds comfortable, and temperature perfect!

Chaning offered us a nice second floor apartment just 10 minutes from Old Port. Good value. The shower is small, if you're tall it's very difficult to fit under the head.

I'm originally from San Francisco, lived many years in and around Boulder Colorado and now live in Portland enjoying "the way life should be" (Maine's motto...and I really can't argue). I have a 24 year old son and a 5 year old daughter whom I adore. Some of my favorite pastimes are learning French & piano, outdoor yoga, breezy bike rides & taking long walks both in nature and cities. I love what I do for work and strive to make each day an adventure. :)
