Our dogs are our children, so if you do not like dogs, please do not book with us. While you will not have too much interaction with them, it is their property too.

Curry’s Post is a beautifully scenic area in the heart of the Midlands Meander that lies between Mooi River and Howick. It has a quaint history that involves the Curry Family, after whom Curry’s Post is named, who settled here, establishing an overnight wagon and cart stop - in essence a staging post.

It is the more natural and quiet side of the Meander and that is what we LOVE about it.

Meet your hosts

Myself and my partner Lee have always dreamed of being able to own a little slice of the beautiful Natal Midlands and this year we have managed to realise that dream. We both love to travel, with our favorite countries being Italy, Germany, Croatia & Madagascar. Being a gay couple of 29 years, we love movies, music and eating good food - so traveling is also about experiencing the local culture and cuisine. Our Midlands home has two beautiful cottages - a 2 bedroom cottage (one bedroom a loft room) called DASHY COTTAGE and another new on called NGUNI COTTAGE (2 full bedrooms with another 2 3/4 beds on the loft landing. Nguni has 2 bathrooms and a gorgeous outdoor shower. While being close enough to all the magic the Midlands Meander has to offer, it will feel like you are a long way from everything - with views to a beautiful dam, huge Pine forest and the mountains of the Karkloof valley. Far Away Place also has its own airfield and runway for guests wishing to fly in for the weekend. We are fortunate enough to own our own aircraft and have flown to every neighboring country bordering South Africa and even to Madagascar! We are social people, love our dogs (we have 5 of them - 4 Dachshunds and an adopted stray from the SPCA). If you are needing a breather from the city or your hectic travel schedule - you may just love our place. Our dogs are super friendly so if you are not keen on dogs - then perhaps our gorgeous cottages may not be for you :) Being a gay couple we are very obviously gay-friendly - but being gay is by NO MEANS a prerequisite to enjoying our beautiful spot in Curry's Post on the Midlands Meander - so we are hetero-friendly LOL. Every man dies. Not every man really lives. (William Wallace) - So come live a little when you share our Far Away Place, that is not too far away from everything.
