Interaction with Guests
I'm at work a lot, but I'm always available by cell phone. I tend to keep to myself at home, but I'm happy to give recommendations on what to visit in the city, good restaurants, and help navigating the subway!
This Astoria neighborhood is diverse, friendly and safe. Within a few blocks you can find all kinds of restaurants and shops. The Socrates sculpture garden, Noguchi musem, Museum of the Moving Image are all a short walk away. (Also the best slice of pizza in NY can be found in my neighborhood.)
The N/Q Broadway stop is two blocks away, and it's just a few stops away from Manhattan! Laguardia Airport is an easy 15 minute cab ride.
Other Things to Note
This apartment is on a fourth floor walk-up. There is no elevator. Also I have a small, friendly dog.
This is a non-smoking apartment. Whenever possible I'm flexible with the check-in/check-out time. Just ask!
Lauren is a great host! Very clean and welcoming apartment. We had everything we needed provided for us and felt completely comfortable and safe in the neighborhood and apartment!Communication was frequent and I never had any doubt or confusion about where to go or how the experience was going to be. I highly recommend Lauren as a host and I will definitely try to stay with her the next time I come to the city!
The place is not clean! The location of the room is great, it is really close to metro and gets you to centar of Manhattan in 30 minutes. We didn't meet Lauren, just saw her three times for minute or two. So cannot tell anything about her. Emmet is really sweet dog, there is nothing to be afraid of. The thing that really bothers us was cleaness. The room itself was dusty, hoping the sheets were clean, but the bathroom was really dirty so when we came we clean it up!! We were scrubing her bathroom on vacation! And we payed for cleaning!
I apologize that you found the apartment dirty. I do my best to keep the place clean and I'm sorry that it wasn't up to your standards. Before every guest arrives, I scrub, sweep, vacuum in every room and change the sheets/towels. It's an old pre-war building, as are many of the buildings in NYC, and never looks sparkling new. I've never had anyone before say they were unhappy with the cleanliness, but I will take your words to heart and make sure no one ever says this again.
Thank you for having us Lauren! My sister and I had a comfortable 1 month stay at your home. The room was spacious and well maintained. The desk, chairs and sofa were essential while we researched for new places to explore in New York and to rest after a long day. There was sufficient storage space to hang clothes and keep any necessities we had. The bathroom was also located just a few steps away from the room. Although the kitchen was small, it was functional and had the basic utensils as we cooked many of our meals. The grocery store is conveniently located just opposite the main road once you exit the small road. And there are many restaurants and shops located on the main street just outside her home. We highly recommend eating at The King of Falafel! It's a big green food truck that you can't miss! It is a 4 story walk up, but that means we were away from the noise from the streets and pedestrians. Also Broadway (N/Q Line) is just 2 blocks away which travels straight into Manhattan. The neighbourhood felt safe even at night. Lauren respected our privacy and accommodated to our needs throughout our stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at her apartment and would highly recommend it.
Fantastic apartment and fantastic host! Lauren responded very quickly to messages/questions, the room was lovely and very big and comfortable, quiet building, and extremely convenient. I highly recommend.
We had a great time at Lauren's place. It was a perfect location for travelling around the city and Lauren helped us with any questions we had. We really enjoyed the neighbourhood too and would definitely recommend the Brooklyn Bagel and Coffee Shop and the Post Scriptum pizza place on Broadway.
Great place to stay. Very close to metro 24/h.
Nice, clean and comfortable room. Lauren is very kind and thoughtful.
I recommend this place to all air bnb users.
Lauren is an excellent host! Communication with her was easy and prompt, making check-in a breeze, and the room was lovely. She provided all the information we could possibly have wanted, and her dog is the most adorable dog in the entire universe. I would happily stay here again.
About the Host, Lauren
I'm originally from Kansas and have lived in New York for the past ten years. Even though I tend to be an introvert, I'm still an open and friendly Midwesterner. I keep to myself at home and like to give people their privacy. I've delighted in exploring this city for the past decade and love sharing my favorite adventures with newcomers.
