Quiet, spacious bedroom available in a pre-war 2 bedroom apartment. It's located in a very friendly and convenient Astoria neighborhood in Queens. The apartment is 2 blocks from the subway. (It's a 15 minute train ride to Times Square/10 minute ride to Central Park. LaGuardia Airport is a 15 minute cab ride away.) A wide variety of shops and fun new restaurants are located nearby.
*I will be out of the country from January 1st-14th, so the entire apartment is available for those two weeks. Please contact me first if you'd like to book any dates during that time, as I will have to plan logistics. Thank you!*
This apartment is amazingly quiet and makes for very restorative sleep! It's an old building with those extra thick walls. The down side of a pre-war building is the lack of an elevator, and it always looks a little dirty. (I clean every few days.) It's on a friendly, safe street in Astoria with lots of different restaurant and shops within a few blocks. The subway is very close and it's just a short ride into Manhattan.
The room has a comfortable queen sized bed and a brand new air conditioner. I provide clean sheets and towels for your stay. There is a big dresser for your clothes and a mirror. The room also has a small loveseat and a table with two chairs. The TV has local channels and a roku box with subscriptions to Hulu, Netflix and HBOGo. There is a closet with hangers right outside the bedroom door. (An extra airbed is also located in the closet.)
Kitchen with coffee maker, microwave, vitamix, toaster, oven. I also regularly stock bagels, cream cheese, butter, jam, oatmeal, coffee, tea, ...and guests are welcome to help themselves. I don't keep a lot of food around typically, but whatever is there I'm happy to share.
Living room with flat screen TV and subscriptions to Netflix, Hulu, and HBOgo
Clean bathroom and towels.
There is laundry in the building available for use.
Interaction with guests
I'm at work a lot, but I'm always available by cell phone. I tend to keep to myself at home, but I'm happy to give recommendations on what to visit in the city, good restaurants, and help navigating the subway!
Other things to note
This apartment is a two bedroom, one bathroom apartment that I live in with my small, friendly dog (Emmett.) It's a pre-war building, but has that "old New York" charm. There is no elevator and I live on the fourth floor. These are things to consider if you are allergic to dogs or have any trouble climbing stairs. Otherwise, it's a very nice place to stay. :)
Whenever possible I'm flexible with the check-in/check-out time. Just ask!
I'm originally from Kansas and have lived in New York for the past ten years. Even though I tend to be an introvert, I'm still an open and friendly Midwesterner. I keep to myself at home and like to give people their privacy. I've delighted in exploring this city for the past decade and love sharing my favorite adventures with newcomers.
