About this listing
A clean, bright, comfortable room in my 3-bedroom home, located on a quiet street in a family neighborhood; 2 blocks from a city bus line. I live alone so there's plenty of space. The room is about 9.5' x 11' and has a double bed.
The house is a well-built, modest home on one level, (although I have an office/studio in the basement). It was built in 1970 and is in excellent condition. It's on a beautiful street lined with oak trees that form a canopy down the entire lane. The room is clean, bright and pleasant. As your host I want your stay to be enjoyable and comfortable.
You're welcome to share all common areas of the house and property. You have access to wifi, Netflix streaming, and other video options.
Interaction with Guests
I will interact with you as much or as little as is comfortable for us both. I'm friendly, affable, and easy to get to know. I'm happy to engage or to leave you to complete privacy. Of course, if you need directions, advice, recommendations or assistance of any kind just ask.
It's a fairly typical suburban North Raleigh neighborhood; pleasant, friendly and quiet. A 3 minute drive from the North Hills area (filled with shops, restaurants, movie theaters, bars, etc.), about 15 minutes from downtown Raleigh, and about 20-25 minutes from Research Triangle Park. The house is a 10 minute walk from Shelly Lake Park, a pleasant, green space good for walking, biking, or a place to relax; it also connects with the extensive county-wide green-way system.
Raleigh, like most cities of its kind, is an auto-centric town, but the transit system is decent. The #8 city bus has a stop that is a 3 minute walk from my front door, and goes directly to downtown for a dollar.
Other Things to Note
NOTE: the bed is a clean, comfortable full/double size bed, (not a queen or king). Of course, fresh linens & towels are provided.
No smoking, be mindful of reasonable times to be quiet, clean up after yourself, and we're good. I have no pets personally. I would consider a guest having one but would want to communicate about it first.
About the Host, Kevin
Welcome fellow traveler! I'm a self-employed freelancer who provides a variety of creative services for audio & video production. I'm semi-retired and work mostly from home. I've lived in Raleigh for 30 years (although originally from NYC). I live alone, with family close by, and have been in this house since 2005. I also travel frequently and enjoy the opportunity to engage with people and learn (particularly about other cultures).
I want your travels (and mine) to be comfortable, pleasant and rewarding. Contact me and we'll see if this is a "good fit".
