I stayed at this cozy little apartment for two months while on a rotation for medical school. I had everything I could need including cable and internet and control over the heat! The location is fabulous and safe - very close to the El. I would highly recommend it to anyone needing a place in Old town. Thanks JoAnne!
Good location, cool neighborhood, safe and quiet, very close to transport and downtown at the same time!
Appartment is getting old (stuff are falling apart) and needs a good cleaning (we found stuff under the couch and the bed !!)
NOT suitable at all for guests with babies and/or strollers!
Host helpful and available, although you won't see her...
This one is a "rental business" don't expect the Airbnb local touch..
This was my first time using Airbnb and it was a great experience! The host, JoAnne, was extremely responsive, gave clear instructions on accessing the unit, and seemed friendly. The apartment rental was perfect for a couple, clean and spacious for a studio (especially if you are used to living in NYC studios, lol!), and looked exactly the way it is presented in photos. The best part of the experience was the location itself - it took us no more than 10-15 minutes to travel by car to most places in the loop or on the north side of the city, we never had a problem finding parking near the building, and the neighborhood itself (Old Town) is just lovely with lots of restaurants, bars/lounges, etc. in walking distance. Great host and great place!
The apartment was clean and as represented in photos. The property owners responded very promptly to calls or email and answered all questions. I would rent with them again. Nothing like reliability!
JoAnne is super responsive and helpful in all my emails with her. The studio was clean and in a very quiet and beautiful neighborhood. We had to rent a car and JoAnne even gave us parking permits which is pure gold! It was extremely hot outside but our studio was always nice and cold because of the AC.
We really enjoyed our stay at Joanne's condo. Her place is on a beautiful street very close to downtown yet the condo was quiet so we had a great night sleep.
We had a lovely 5-night stay at the studio, it was very quiet and bright, the bed was cozy and the shower had great water pressure and control. There is a school across the street, but we never heard it. The photos are accurate, although I would say it’s even brighter than photos can show. It might be time to re-carpet, since it was a little threadbare in spots, but it certainly was clean. We hoped to use the kitchen more, but it did a fine job holding our breakfast goodies, and all of the bowls, plates, glasses, etc were spotlessly clean. I never turned on the tv, but the internet connection was fine and fast.
JoAnne was so very responsive when I was making my reservation, which is big reason why I think I’ll now forsake (website hidden) for airbnb. When I arrived at the flat, I couldn’t find the key, texted JoAnne, and she called me immediately. We found it ‘together’, and she was so friendly and understanding. Of course I felt like a goof, but she was just lovely.
The neighborhood was a great choice (we’ve stayed in Old Town before) with great access to the L, Treasure Island supermarket, and restaurants. We had a great rib dinner and wonderful beers right across the street at the famous old Twin Anchors, met some friends for brunch at Stanley’s (yum for their Bloody Mary bar and awesome fried chicken), and a very memorable meal at Old Town Social (house-made Chicago dogs, pasta, and steak and fries just rocked).
Yes, I’d stay here again. Enjoy!
Fabulous location and a spacious studio that provided everything we needed. JoAnne responded quickly to any and all questions. There were a couple little maintenance fix-its that need to be done to the apartment, but nothing that affected our stay or the terrific experience we had in Chicago. I would recommend this apartment and this host to anyone and everyone. Thanks JoAnne!
The location of this apartment is wonderful! Walking distance to the train and all sorts of restaurants and shops. Normally I don't rent a car when in Chicago but this time I needed to, so appreciated the street parking passes JoAnne left. Quiet, safe neighborhood and generally very quiet apartment building. The size of the studio was perfect for me since I was traveling alone and not in the apartment much - bigger and better located than a hotel room, but not so big it felt like wasted space. JoAnne is great about responding to inquiries very quickly so the booking was a snap. The only negative I would note is that it seemed overpriced for what is was. I've rented other Airbnb places for $10-20 more per night that had a lot more room, a balcony, exposed brick, hardwood floors and new appliances. Again, this suited my needs just fine, but I was just surprised when comparing it to other places.
Close to the train, convenient to downtown, decent place as advertised.
