The Victorian Room:
The Victorian Room has a very comfortable queen size bed with 100% cotton sheets, feather mattress and down comforter. On cold winter nights there is an adjustable mattress warmer on your bed to make the bed nice and toasty before turning in for the night. There is also a mirror, ample lighting, and a closet for hanging your garments. The room overlooks the house garden and has its own private television. The shared bathroom has excellent water pressure and the house is equipped with a central heating and cooling system. I can provide a space heater for additional comfort during cooler months. At the end of a busy day there is the Reflex Roller in your room that will revive your aching feet. A terry cloth robe with matching house shoes are provided for your convenience and the “chocolate fairy” is known to stop by occasionally.
I have a lovely home and I enjoy making my guests comfortable. I have had house guests from China, Japan, Brazil, Venezuela, and Spain. My Hyde Park home has two private bedrooms available for rent. The clean and comfortable atmosphere of my home is well suited to all types of travelers: tourists, students, and professionals. My house offers the perfect home base whether you are doing an internship, apartment hunting, consulting a few times a month, doing a medical rotation, or just in need of a lovely place for a personal retreat. I can accommodate stay durations of varying lengths. I have had guests who stayed for a few days, a few weeks, or for more than a month. The full bathroom and dining area are shared and guests may use the microwave and the refrigerator. Guests are alerted that it is breakfast time at 7AM with the sound of soothing Jazz or guests can sleep in if I am alerted the night before. For breakfast I provide cold cereal, oatmeal, milk, filtered water, juice, fruit, coffee and tea. My house has central heat and AC, ceiling fans, wireless Internet, and a laundry room. I also provide an iron and ironing board for your convenience. Clean sheets and towels are provided at the beginning of your stay and you are responsible for keeping your room clean. Towels are changed every two days. For extended stay, there is a laundry room. I have a very friendly cat named Divine that enjoys guests.
My home is located in Hyde Park near University of Chicago just a few blocks from Lake Michigan. The neighborhood has a vibrant International community and is full of museums, artist studios, and unique murals. Within walking distance of my home are great restaurants, grocery stores, coffee/tea shops, bars, and fashion boutiques. The Museum of Science and Industry and DuSable Museum are right in the neighborhood. Hyde Park is a pedestrian and bicycle friendly neighborhood. I find it to be very safe, but of course we are in a city and it is always good to be mindful of your surroundings when walking alone. I live just a few blocks from the President.
From my home you can easily walk or catch a bus or an elevated train to destinations like UIC, University Village, McCormick Center, the Medical District, and Downtown Chicago. The Metra is a short walk from my house and many buses stop just down the block. The Metra gets you downtown in 15 minutes with a one-way pass for $2.35. Buy a CTA pass at the airport, Union Station, Currency Exchanges, select Jewel and Dominick's grocery stores, or in the CTA store. Activated on the first use, passes allow unlimited rides on city buses and trains for the specified duration. Please note that you cannot purchase a pass on the bus or at train stations. Without a pass, the fee is $2.25 per ride. Passes cost $5.75 for 1 day, $14 for 3 days, $23 for 7 days, $86 for 30 days. Quite a lot of rules to follow compare to other bnb host. But overall still a legit place to stay and rest a short night.
Faye is a helpful and professional hostess. She always looks after her guests. I stayed in her cozy and clean house for a month. She was very helpful with answering my questions and accommodating my needs. Highly recommended!
I stayed for just a night, but it was an enjoyable one. Faye is a very warm and professional hostess. The location is quiet, close to public transportation, easy to find and get to, and a quick walk to the University of Chicago campus. My room was very clean, large, warm, and comfortable. Great experience, definitely recommend. Thank you, Faye!
Faye's house is warm and cozy. We had a good experience here. The neighborhood is nice. It is near the university and also walking distance to the museum of science and industry. Would definitely recommend.
Faye made Chicago even more fantastic - not only an amazing host providing a beautiful space to live in, Faye is a wonderful and inspiring woman to have met. Blackstone Avenue is the best.
Very homey, and in a lovely neighbourhood.
Faye was a pleasant hostess and her family was also helpful. The room was comfortable. Her home is in walking distance from University of Chicago.
This was my first "Airbnb" experience. Due to a very tight schedule and pending health issues, I needed almost immediate confirmation and accommodations. Faye was great in all regards, and made my stay pleasant. She's a wonderful host, but even more importantly, a wonderful person.
Faye's House worked out very well for our stay in Hyde Park. Faye is welcoming and her cat is adorable! There were several rooms in the house with guests, but the house was always quiet. I would definitely stay here again.
Faye was great! She was very friendly, polite, and her place was very clean. Her cat was awesome. The cat decided to come in my bed at night. Which I didn't mind at all. The breakfast was cold cereal and I was happy with that. I was there for the Chicago half- Marathon. After the event I wanted to walk back to the train station. However Faye is such a great host she asked her daughter to take me to the station in her car. Her daughter and I had a great conversation about running. I would 100% recommend Faye. I would give her 10 out of 10!
