Very convenient location, 15 minute walk to the nearer subway station.
The guest house was just great. We spent 9 nights during carneval at Carlos' house. The room was clean, as was the really spacious bathroom. The kitchen is used by other guests, too. So this depends of course on the people.
There are terraces and couches everywhere to chill out after a exhausting day in Rio, which was really nice.
Carlos, his wife and his maid were really helpful and very nice. Carlos even drove us once to Maracana to buy some tickets (he wanted some, too).
The guest house is always a bit busy, but we liked that. It felt alive.
There is a very big washing machine, which we used quite often.
Towels and linen are provided, and we could have new ones on request.
The WiFi and PC are ok, but sometimes the internet is not working, but i guess this was a Rio problem during carneval.
The only thing I didn't like was the AC in the room, which was quite noisy, even with earplugs.
The neighbourhood is OK. Not as rich as e.g. Leblon, but nice and safe. Metro and bus station are a 10min walk away (Gloria Station). 12 Reais taxi or 20min walk to Lapa or Santha Theresa.
The neighborhood was fine and the description of the rental was accurate. I highly recommend the place!
The room was a little less smart than airbnb pictures suggested but clean and simple and comfortable enough ,with helpful internet access ; while the house was quiet and secure with useful access to a kitchen and sitting areas.Location a little noisy from dogs but a friendly neighbourhood with good access to the Gloria metro .
Hosts friendly and welcoming.Certainly worth consideration if you are visiting for a short stay in Rio.
This guest house was beautiful and magical in its decoration and vibe. It had plants everywhere and little hidden balconies on different levels of the three floors. There are two flights of narrow stairs to get to the common floor (if that is an issue for some.) I stayed with a friend in a beautiful suite. It was fairly quiet in the back of the house (no street noise) and a common balcony which was really like a private balcony. Huge open window in the room and lots of closet space. The shower was huge and always had hot water. The only issue was that the toilet leaked the whole time on the tile so just definitely recommend wearing flip flops in the bathroom. It is a shared kitchen and definitely were tons of other guests who were also lovely.
It was located in Gloria on the way up the hill to Santa Teresa. 20 minute walk to Flamengo beach. It is about a 8-10 block walk to the Gloria metro station which goes to Copbacabana, the stadium and Ipanema and other places. 8 block walk down to the main road, with tons of banks, stores, and markets. 20 minute walk to Lapa.
We arrived very late at night and ended having to extend our stay. Our schedule was very tricky and Celia worked hard to let us stay in our room. It was a little confusing so recommend booking your whole stay as far advance as possible.
I would recommend this place for anyone looking for a calm stay or stay for a couple.
I had a great stay at Luisa´s house. I was well received, felt confortable and at ease.
I was given a house key at my arrival, used the kitchen when needed and everybody was very helpfull.
The house is amazing, a 50 or 60 years old classic construction fully reformed, with nice patios, trees all around and spacious common areas.
I took the air conditioned room ( and understood the others will be soon ). The bed was nice , altough the mattress not so much, the bathroom clean and well finished, with a good high-pressure hot shower.
The location is excelent, 10-12 minutes walk from a metro station, within a traditional neighborrhood.
Overall, I would recommend the house strongly and intend to stay there again.
