Interaction with Guests
The studio is set off of a large house (the house is occupied by the listing owner and his wonderful roommates) and is private and quiet. That being said there is a cafe' on site and this, along with the housemates, means that you can have as much or as little social interaction as you like.
Near Nimmanhaemin Road's hip nightlife, Chiang Mai University, Doi Suthep, lake Huay Tung Taew, Malin Plaza night market, Rin Kham night market, Chang Kian produce market, the beautiful ancient ruins of Wat Jed Yod, and endless opportunities to enjoy amazing street food and local culture in a real Thai neighborhood, just minutes away from the old city.
We are easily accessible but located just off of the main road, so you can sleep soundly in the absence of old-city street noise. Also, in Chiang Mai city you are always near “Red Trucks” and TukTuks that can take you where you want to go. That being said, there are several motorbike and bike rental shops nearby if you feel so inclined. Furthermore, we do have two bicycles and one motorbike available for rent, but they are often rented out so it is good not to count on this option. You may inquire about this when you contact us about a room.
Other Things to Note
We want to welcome you to Chiang Mai and make you feel at home in our beautiful little garden oasis in the city! Most people in the house, including the owner, are either Thai or have been in Thailand for quite some time. Thus, if there is something you would like to know about the city or its surrounding areas, then we would be happy to provide recommendations and answer any questions you have during your stay. Khun Bay, owner of the Cafe' on site, is a particularly good resource. Thus, ordering a coffee and chatting him up for a bit is recommended.

This location and guesthouse has been our favorite place in Chiang Mai so far. The room was spacious, clean, and very accessible to the Nimman neighborhood and North Gate. We were so comfortable in this location, that it was actually hard to leave and get out to see the city! The food at Food4Thought, the restaurant right outside the door, was sooo good. The organic cafe is full of fresh tasting menu items, and offers a nice break from your every day Thai food (no matter how delicious Thai food is.). Bay's Cafe, which is also located right outside your door, offers pour-over coffee, kombucha, almond milk, and delicious desserts (including gluten free items!, where am I? California?) The room is stocked with water, I highly recommend staying at Charles and Meena's, you will not regret it! Also, there is a bonus...there are kittens to play with!
What a wonderful experience.
Thank you Charlies for all the handy tips on what to do and where to go, very helpful.
I had an amazing time in Chiang Mai.
Charles and Neema were great hosts and the room was perfect. Clean, bright and comfortable with excellent WiFi, A/C and selection of maps and guide books.
Stepping out of the front door to a friendly cafe/restaurant with superb food and great coffee from Bay made it even better.
Will definitely stay there again when back in Chiang Mai and have already recommended to friends.
Was an absolute pleasure staying here. A great place to take refuge from the business of the city but also close enough to the Nimman area if you want a little dose of the "busy" vibe. Still only a short taxi ride away from the main city as well. I loved staying at Bays Cafe/Food 4 Thought. Large personal private room with everything you might ever need to have a comfortable stay. The food is amazing, western food in Thailand that's actually really really good, who would've thought. The coffee is also top notch, pour overs with a selection of single origin coffees. Such a nice and relaxing place to stay, great atmosphere. Oh, and cats! Lots of cats! :) I highly recommend staying here and would stay here again if I find myself in the area.
It was a good comfortable place in a nice area which was not very touristic but quite close to the old town and all the main attractions of the newer districts. In general it had a very realistic residential feel about it. The room was spacious and comfortable, the owners supplied everything which I needed. Moreover, Bay and Meena walked the extra mile always to help. For instance, I needed medical check up at some point and they were very kind to bring me to the clinic. Another fun thing about the place is adorable cats and kittens. There is also a very good restaurant run by the owners with the concept of organic food and creative tasty cuisine. Some items can be a bit pricey, but if you are picky or tired of the Thai food (and I was extremely tired of it:-)) it is a very good option. It was also easy to reach the old town and not expensive at all. The only small uncomfortable thing is that the neighboring restaurant starts very early around 6am. I used to wake up because of that, as my room was close to it, but that's my personal sleep sensitivity and it is out of control of the owners. On the whole, it is a good combination of quality and price.
Pros: aircon, comfortable, well equipped, location is good and the people is really nice and the café on the place was quite good, plus they give you freedom to use things and hang around. Magic door to room full of kittens.
Cons: No privacy, directly next to cafe, thin curtains (we covered the windows mostly using the bedding from the additional single bed in the room). Occasional smell of kitty litter from the magic room.
Charles and Meena was super sweet and very kind. My flight got in later than expected and even though I'm sure it was a nuisance, they were able to greet me and show me around.
Just note that if you stay here you are about 2 kilometers away from downtown. It didn't bother me at all, as I walked pretty much everywhere, but if you're the kind of person who wants to be in the thick of things, you may want to look elsewhere. Otherwise- I say go for it!
