We rented a room for 2 months. It was very dirty. The sheets and the towels were never changed neither washed. The kitchen was so dirty (particularly the owen) that we only had breakfast in the the house. The bathroom has never been cleaned (there was sand on the floor when we arrived and still when we left).
We couldn't lock our bedroom. Someone came in and broke a mirror. Mejai complained after we went back to France and accused us, he stayed we played soccer in the room (it was just impossible the room is small) and he asked for 500 $ for the mirror and to clean the kitchen after our departures.
Mejai washed our clothes. He put his own clothes, he mixed the colors and several clothes were damaged.
Other guests left their dishes in the sink of the kitchen, it was so dirty that we had to wash all the dishes in the morning before having our breakfast. I ordered on a website, the post office gave a paper to me that prooves the packet was delivered but Mejai didn't give it to me and said he didn't get it.
It smells tabacco in the house (Mejai and his family smoke). I don't recommand this house.
Buena habitación amplia y cómoda para una pareja, la ubicación es ideal y no tiene perdida para llegar al centro de la ciudad. Genial la estancia
My girlfriend and I were certainly given much privacy which was nice, but I must forewarn future guests that the room we were given was drastically different from what is displayed in the picture (Zen king suite). We weren't given any prior warning that this would occur. Also, upon arriving and asking Mejais brother why the change in room had occurred, Mejai had told his brother on the phone that he wouldn't be home for a few hours to discuss the issue, yet he was clearly sleeping upstairs. We were also promised extra linens that never arrived. I was surprised all this had occurred given the many positive reviews. The experience was enjoyable otherwise though. Bronzeville is a nice area of Chicago rich with culture and the quick walk to the CTA made transportation easy and affordable.
I found this guest to be a bit inconsiderate and rude. For starters they arrived at 4am waking the house up with a request to change rooms. Of course I was asleep at 4am. I offered to talk later in the day and he pushed back with frustration at 4am.
The next day I explained the mix up with the room and offered to relocate them but they insisted they were already comfortable. Thus the 4am push back and wake up call was for naught.
As my daughter and I were leaving the house, we find the guest sitting on top the high back part of my kitchen chairs with his feet on the seat cushions. When he saw me he did not correct himself and apologize but rather stayed affixed on the high back part of the chair with his feet on the cushions. I asked him to not sit on the chair that way and he relocated without acknowledgment.
I got the impression that this young man was head strong and self absorbed. He was unwilling to communicate on polite terms.
Kai is probably the coolest cat you are going to meet here on Airbnb, seriously. The room I had was great, the building was great the other guest where great and the location was just walking distance to public transportation, VERY convenient. I enjoyed watching american football with the other guest in the shared kitchen space as well. My room even had a skylight hehehe. This is definitely a good place to be.
me and my son just spent 3 nights there. the room was large and comfortable, i just wish i could have thicker curtains or something so the sun wouldnt wake us up at dawn every morning!!!
other rooms are rented also so the common area has a feel like a youth hostel and i loved that. i met very interesting people who i was playing jinga and connect 4 with in the evenings.
i didnt see mejai much but when i did he was helpful, he let me used his tablet to check my emails and he searched the net to give us the best option to go to a museum by bus. he was very pleasant
the train to the city center is about 1 block away so very convenient
A great host, and a comfortable, affordable option for Chicago. The red or green brings you downtown in under 15 minutes, so it was very convenient in terms of location. Also, very close to The White Sox, if that happens to be of interest. Overall, a good place to stay.
A hassle-free stay, thanks to Mejai. The room I originally wanted was double booked (an airbnb glitch), but Mejai was a great host & took care of us in the end! :)
decent place. spartan.
Excelent host!! Mejai is a complete easy going and cool person. He helped us in our 3 nights there recommending us how to move arround chicago and giving us a lot of advices! I completely recomend this place if you want to have a cheap, safety and near place to stay in Chicago! GREAT.
