Located at the base of Mt. Tabor this condo is bright and roomy with a southern exposure and access to Hawthorne Blvd. Across the street is a coffee shop. Within walking distance are many shops, restaurants, food carts, and many businesses. The bus stop is at the corner to broaden your horizons and give you access to Portland. The condo features mid century modern and other eclectic furnishings. A 600 sq. ft. condo with king size memory foam bed in the bedroom and a plush leather couch in the living room folds out into a full size bed. Sony internet enabled television with WiFi and Comcast cable, I-Pod docking station/alarm clock. Hair dryer, iron, ironing board.
The bathroom is stocked with shampoo, conditioner and body wash. The full kitchen has a gas stove, refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker & grinder, electric tea kettle and all the equipment you need to create a meal from the Farmers Markets scattered throughout Portland. A table which seats four. This condo has central air and heat.
We have street parking. Our entire property is smoke/vape/burn free.
The Saffron Condo is a pet friendly home. Preference given to crate trained pets, current on vaccinations and obedience trained. Please provide us with a complete description of your animal including breed, age and weight prior to booking your reservation. Please include a photograph in your profile. If you are bringing a pet please plan activities which include your pet.
It is not appreciated when people use our home as a kennel and go out to explore Portland, not fair to the pet either!
Pets and children are counted as guests. Please include them when placing an inquiry for a reservation.

There is no pro-ration allowance for additional guests or partial stays. When adding a guest to your reservation you will be charged a guest fee for the entire stay for the total number of guests accepted regardless of each individual guest's length of stay. Please consider that before inviting others.
We park on the street. Street parking is free and plentiful. Usually within one or two blocks.

One or two night stays may be accepted if reserved 24 hours for, one night, before check in. Or 48 hours before a two night stay. If there is an opening of one or two nights between existing reservations we will be happy to consider your reservation request. Please inquire.

Interaction with Guests
We meet our guests by appointment 4 - 6 pm. All guests must be present for check in with identification. During your stay we are available by telephone, e-mail or text 24/7.
The Saffron is a pet friendly unit. Pets must be pre-approved before booking.
Pets count as guests.
Television is capable of internet access as well as Comcast programming. Please do not change settings for internet. If you need help please ask. We are available to assist you 24 hours per day.
No bicycle storage within the units. There is a bike rack across the street.
Observe appropriate noise levels for the time of day. For example no loud music at night.
No smoking on the property or burning anything in the unit including but not limited to incense, scented candles and herbs. No vaporizing.
Guest agrees to abide by all written rules or verbal requests. Guest agrees to forfeit entire security deposit if they choose not to cooperate.
Please follow house manual provided in the home.
Please show courtesy to our neighbors. Any gatherings greater than the number of registered house guests must be pre-approved by the host.
Children and pets are guests, please include them in your guest count.
Checking In / Out
Check In is 4 – 6 pm by appointment. Please let us know when you plan to arrive so that someone can greet you at your condo, provide you with your access code and answer any questions that you may have. All guests must be present for check in with identification.
Early or late check in can be arranged in advance based on availability. Early or late check in will be subject to a $25/hr check in fee.
Check Out is 11 am. Please let us know 48 hours in advance if you require a late check out. Late check out is based on availability and approval of management. Late check out is $25 per hour for each full or partial hour after 11 am and must be paid for in advance in cash. If you plan on leaving earlier than 11am please let us know so that we can plan our cleaning schedules accordingly.
We loved our stay at the Saffron Condo! Great, convenient location, well stocked, fun decor, quiet and clean. We hope to return and stay at the Saffron Condo during our next Portland visit.

This place was just what I needed. Kim was super friendly when I arrived, but didn't hang around or intrude. She just made sure my pup and I were comfortable, offered some suggestions of dog-friendly spots to eat in the area, then have us privacy until I needed something for the condo. She appeared within 5 minutes of texting her to show me where some extra supplies were! This is a really well-kept and well-stocked condo- with a very functional kitchen. I also enjoyed the tub for a soak on a rainy day! I would definitely stay here again. Killer location.
This is the second time I have stayed here. I have tried some other spots in Portland but this one is, by far, the best! It's clean, host is friendly and extremely professional and kind. The location is amazing -- Albina Press across the street, Sapphire Hotel (local lounge) also across the street, Mt Tabor very close, public transport is easily accessible if you don't have a car, the kitchen is well stocked if you want or need to cook. I love this place!
The Butternut Condos are in a great location. Hawthorne boulevard offers a great variety of dining and nightlife experiences. I was visiting Portland to see some friends but made the mistake of not asking our host first if company was allowed to visit the condo! Other than that, the condo is quaint and will have everything you are looking for in your visit to Portland.
My husband and I stayed in the Saffron unit for 9 nights, and a single friend joined us for 4 nights. It was a perfect size for 2 people (though keep in mind we lived in NYC for 5 years so we are tolerant of compact settings) and a little tight with 3, but very manageable if you'll be out a lot anyway. There is a proper bedroom and then a pull-out couch in the living room. The bed in the bedroom was a king and very comfortable. The pull-out was a full or queen (couldn't really tell) and felt really terrible to me (could feel every spring when I tested it and could not imagine sleeping on it), but our friend was happy enough with it and didn't have trouble sleeping. There was reasonable closet space/hangers, as well as a large dresser for storage. The bathroom was a reasonable size and included plenty of towels as well as storage space, which was much appreciated. We did not really use the kitchen (so many excellent restaurants to try!!), but it appeared clean and well stocked with the basics. The location was great (very convenient and in a cool neighborhood with a lot to do close by), but note that the Saffron is right on Hawthorne. There was some street noise, from cars and also from enthusiastic bar-goers (particularly on Fri/Sat nights). We used earplugs and a white noise app on a phone and had no trouble sleeping. Our friend was not bothered at all, with no ear plugs (though she can sleep in a train station). Also, there is a unit above the Saffron, so there was foot noise above. The residents were courteous and we were not there much so it was not a problem, but just something to keep in mind. However, there was a pervasive musty smell that simply did not dissipate, with open windows or with air conditioning running. We noticed this immediately and it did not improve over our stay. We would get used to it while there, but it was like a smack in the nose when coming back after being out. The worst part was that all of our clothes and belongings took on this smell, such that we'd catch a whiff while out and about. We realized that we were the "stinky people" wherever we went ;>) We had to wash absolutely everything when we got home, including clothes that we did not wear, our suitcases and our umbrellas. The smell came out easily with a wash. It was strange as there is a firm rule about not burning anything, such as incense or candles, but we think even left-over patchouli would be MUCH preferred to the mustiness. The hosts greeted us when we arrived and were very welcoming and helpful. They offered to pick us up at the airport, which was very generous (though we preferred to take a cab).
