We provide fruit, beer, snacks, coffee, tea, milk, orange juice & 1/2 a loaf of bread for your arrival. The kitchenette has a microwave, toaster / toaster oven & kettle - NB: it does not have a full oven.
We have tried to price the space under the standard indicated by AirBNB (including the City's 10% tax) in the hopes that we exceed your expectations. If something is not 5* for your expectations please let us know in advance - we can fix most anything.
You have complete access to your own apartment, via the side pathway & stairs from the street. The apartment includes the bedroom (naturally) a full bathroom and kitchenette. Your own entrance is down a pathway to the side of the house, It is a little rustic so not ideal for the infirm. There are tons of street parking spots.
Interaction with Guests
As much or as little as you like. We have a small family, and for the most part it's very quiet - nanny and our toddler are around during the day, and sometimes out in the garden but will leave you to your own devices. Daisy The Dog (see the pictures) may come sniffing around, but will leave you alone. Both Angus and Jenny can point you in the right direction for all Ventura has to offer.
Centrally located downtown, and close to Ventura's amazing restaurants, beaches, nightlife - we're in a very good spot to enjoy all of those things. The sea air is close, but not too 'wet'. We're protected from the winds that can blow along the coast, yet capture the morning and early afternoon sun nicely.
Train (Surfliner) station is within walking distance. We're close to the 101 for easy access.
Other Things to Note
A) The flat is attached to our house, so a certain amount of interaction is inevitable. Ventura's an awesome place to visit the central coast - loads of amazing food, bars, bands etc.
B) The garden service comes on Tuesday afternoons after 2pm PLEASE keep the windows and doors closed to prevent a dust storm in your room.
C) We normally have a couple of cold beers & / or bottle of wine in the fridge for your arrival, if you would like these removed for whatever reason please let me know.
No smoking (of anything) inside the house, though the patio area is OK for medicinals. Please check with us before booking about your pets - they must be OK with our super mellow French Bulldog, Daisy. A cleaning deposit of $100 is required for all pets due to the wool carpets. We hope to refund it!
Angus and Jenny made us feel very at home. Lots of snacks and beautiful flowers were a nice touch. The neighborhood was quiet and very centrally located. They gave us some great info about the area as well. Really had a super time.
Angus and Jenny gave us a very warm welcome in their beautiful and stylish arranged place, the fridge filled with delicious things for us. Everything, the city and the beach is in walking distance and we had such a great time in Ventura and the area. Thanks a lot to our hosts.
Wow. This was our first AirBnB experience and its hard to imagine that it can get much better.
The space: We found the unit very comfortable for our family of 3. All of the furnishings are modern, well maintained and comfortable. Small details abound to make your stay nice: a few beers, water and milk in the fridge, an assortment of cereals and other snacks, coffee maker with good beans, nice towels and bedding.
The awesomeness of the patio area can't be overstated. It's a fantastic space to unwind with a glass of wine in the evening, BBQ, or have a cup of coffee in the morning. There's a very nice propane chimney to warm things up if it gets cold in the evening.
The hosts: Angus and Jenny are fantastic! They were so respectful of our time and space, while at the same time being very inclusive with us in their activities. A few examples: After chatting with us a bit the evening of our arrival, Angus sat down and wrote out a list of things he thought we'd enjoy: a few restaurants, a coffee shop, a beach to check out. The next morning he left freshly baked croissants outside our door - he threw a few extra in the oven for us when making breakfast for the family. Jenny put together a "princess bed" for our two-year-old Victoria to encourage her to let mom and dad have the big bed to themselves and it worked! These are just a few examples of the extraordinary treatment from very big-hearted people. They didn't have to do these things -- it was already a 5-star stay on its own merits -- but they genuinely take satisfaction in making people feel at home. They are also very interesting folks and you'll love chatting with them.
Just book. You won't regret it.
My daughter and I had a wonderful 4-night stay here. The property and location were exactly as described. The property was clean, safe and walking distance to the beautiful Ventura pier and downtown shops and restaurants. The host provided an assortment of delicious snacks and breakfast foods, and even wine and beer. We had full access to the patio which was in the greenery and trees and perfect for sipping coffee in the morning or wine in the evening. The host was gracious, welcoming and very helpful. We really enjoyed our stay here and exploring the surrounding areas, as well as the city of Ventura. We would definitely stay here again when in the area!
Our second stay with Angus was as wonderful as our first. A charming studio with separate kitchen and bath, spotless, charming, cozy--a sense that your hosts had made a special effort to make your experience a memorable one. Beautiful patio to enjoy morning coffee or wine at night. Angus is the perfect host--responsive, respectful of our privacy, and knowledgeable about how to find great Thai food or a killer morning muffin. Our highest recommendation
Great place...location is awesome right by cool shops and walkable to the beach! Host was great, he explained everything and had the place with a great stock of snacks and cold drinks! That was much appreciated. The family lives right above this studio in the house. The studio is very comfortable and clean. Parking was easy just outside in front of the house. I really appreciated this place.
The hospitality went above and beyond the listing description. Angus gave us a warm welcome and left a couple of small and thoughtful anniversary gifts for us (as the trip was for our anniversary). This listing is beautiful and well-put-together, roomy enough for two people, quiet despite proximity to a main thoroughfare, and walking distance from everything you might want to do in downtown Ventura. We walked to the beach, Ventura Pier, Grant Park, the county fairgrounds, and restaurants along Main Street and Santa Clara all within ten minutes. We were really happy with our stay.
