Hi All! I have a room available in my home that is perfect for those needing to be near downtown but not wanting to pay the prices.
Enjoy use of the kitchen, living area and dining room as well.
*please note I have a very friendly small dog
The room was clean and had everything necessary for a comfortable stay. It was not really walkable to Bricktown but did not cost much to über/taxi.
The home was dirty. There was dog poop encrusted on a throw rug in our room, ground-in dirt and paint chips all over the living room, a layer of dirt on the tile in the bath, mold on the tiles around the tub, the white dust cover on the couch was dirty and stained and the room adjacent to the kitchen was in disarray - torn up and being repainted, with no notice to us in advance. The bed I slept on was so old and musky-smelling, that once the perfunctory perfume wore off, it woke me up and I couldn't go back to sleep.
The neighborhood is struggling at best. At least 1/3 of the homes are in severe disrepair. Both depressing and scarey, and this from someone (me) who works as an artist-in-residence in the toughest neighborhoods in Dallas. Not much puts me off or scares me. This neighborhood did both.
Our host seemed disconnected, almost unfriendly. It felt as if we were intruders, rather than welcomed guests.
If we had known the conditions of this place, we would not have considered it at any price level.
Lin and her husband arrived hours later than stated after waiting and waiting I had to rush out as I was late minutes after their arrival. After reading her review the following day, I was in shock about what she said but then after reading her private feedback, realized she lied about the whole thing and just wanted some of her money back so it would be cheaper. Her private feedback is written below. The whole home had just been cleaned and laundry done. There is no mold in the tub and the rug in the room was clean. There was dust on a ledge in the bathroom but nothing insane just something that was missed and as for the white sofa, it is a white sofa in which people eat and drink on and its tough to get out stains on white. As for the mattress (she commented in private it was something she loved about my listing), both mattresses in the room are less than a year old and the linens were freshly washed so I have no idea what she , again I think she made it up to get a refund! Also, she ventured into an area off limits to airbnb guests, this was my grandmothers home who passed away 2 years ago. My mother is just now beginning to go through her things and yes while visibly messy she had no business being in that area of the home, when you stay you can see it is not clearly not for guests! Also, the neighborhood is older, but safe and quiet (something else she commented in private about liking about my listing) as you can read in many of the reviews, I have guests that will walk downtown with no problem and my neighbors are the friendliest people. This is a community and everyone knows everyone, my grandmother lived here my whole life. Her review tells me that after I left for my event, she went around my home and looked for things to complain about because she wanted a free stay as she requested one from airbnb. I strive my best to be the best host, thankfully airbnb can see that as well. I have had many great guests who have been happy with their stay. Here is her private feedback in which she complimented the bed and neighborhood being things she loved about it:
What Lin loved about your listing:
The beds were firm and the neighborhood was quiet.
What Lin thought you could improve about the experience:
If the place is actually cleaned up, a price of $30 - $35 per night might be acceptable.
Very nice house! Close to downtown, private, quiet and safe. Also Rebecca is very pleasant, always ready to help. Very glad to meet her.
The listing description was accurate. I enjoyed my stay with Rebecca and would come back if back in OKC.
