Respect the natural environment. Leave Sedona as you found it!
With an unexpected heat wave, Josh and Carol made sure our vacation was as relaxing as we had hoped. Even though we had to make a location change everything worked out and was great. Everything was well set up and clean. A great experience!
We had a great trip to Sedona and Joshua & Carol were wonderful hosts.
Joshua met us in town on the day of our arrival and escorted us out to our campsite. He demonstrated various parts of the camper and campground, and took the time to go over maps of the area and recommended different trails, places of interest, and restaurants. He also left us with a basket of eggs, jams, and a bottle of wine!
The camper was clean and very comfortable, and we had no issues with any of the amenities - everything was in working order. Joshua checked in with us a few days into our stay via text message, just to make sure we were doing okay, and that we were not having any issues.
I would highly recommend Joshua & Carol and their camper for anyone looking for a unique and memorable experience while in Sedona.
If you are going to Sedona, you need to stay here at least for a few nights. The camper feels like a luxury hotel in the inside and totally wild nature in the outside. Joshua and his family are an amazing host, very caring and helpful.
Joshua had everything very clean and set up to welcome us, including wood for a fire, wine and fresh eggs and greens in fridge and lots of maps/guides. Great chairs outside; beds comfy. The camper was fun and clean, views even better in real life than the posting photo! Joshua and his girls were a great resource for places to hike and explore and rent bikes. We had a fantastic three days biking, visiting the nearby cliff dwelling and pictographs. The shower had plenty of room and a skylight - plan on going out early, then showing midday for that great sun! But for us it wasn't perfect - we were ignorant of what it meant to have camper toilet in our bedroom with us and no chairs to pull up or move around the main room. All furniture was fixed, and the angle to the TV (yes, they have TV and watching silly dog movies was a blessing when my son got a cold and had to alternate intense biking with vegging out in the heat of the day). Overall, wonderful and I would love to go back someday and continue exploring and would stay in Joshua's camper again in a heartbeat.
I thought picking the camper location was part of the deal, and the main reason I paid more for it than some other options. One of my priorities was privacy, and we had another set of people camped behind us, and it was dusty when we opened windows because it was just off a dirt forest road with cars and trucks driving by regularly - especially those ridiculous pink jeeps. Our cell phone didn't get service, so when we plugged our phone, computer and camera into outlets that didn't charge them and wanted to reach Joshua to ask we couldn't. It was fairly easy to find internet access downtown in Sedona - about 20 minutes from where camper was located for us, and we couldn't resist trying out many different trailheads and the drive itself gorgeous. I'd recommend it VERY highly if you aren't uptight about toileting and you don't need a bathtub.
Great stay in the RV! Joshua had it set up perfectly in a gorgeous spot with amazing views. He took care of all the little things down to a bottle of wine, coffee, and fresh eggs. The RV was super comfortable and cozy. Lots of awesome hikes very close by. A unique getaway which we enjoyed immensely.
The host made us feel quite welcome - the "place" is a camper he puts on a national park campsite, so it is not necessarily the view as pictured. It is a beautiful setting, nonetheless, but if you want THAT view, it is not what you will have -- it depends on site availability when he sets up camp for you, and for us during a holiday week, many sites he prefers were already taken, and our view was definitely not that view. The camper is roomy enough for 4, NP. The bunk beds small for a teen child larger than 5'4". The main bed extremely comfortable. The host provides water to the camper, and made a trip out by early that afternoon when we unexpectedly ran out, which happened only once in the 4 night stay. Electricity is provided by battery recharged nightly by generator, and microwave and toaster work while generator running. The fridge is plenty spacious, as is storage. He provides ample firewood, blankets, and even fresh eggs and jam, and paper products. The drive to downtown Sedona from the red rocks site where we stayed (near Palatki ruins) is a good 20 minutes to town on bumpy dirt roads, but we didn't want much in town, and we completed our grocery shopping before heading to the site the first night, which is essential. It's a short drive to hike, about 8 minutes to Doe Mountain and that area of hiking. The camper was quite clean. The location quite peaceful and remote. If you want a view, tell Josh that clearly as that was significant for my son, and we didn't realize ahead of time our site would not be the view pictured. Nice family. Kind host. Maybe a bit pricey once you add in the $20/person/nt. supplemental, but that is a personal choice.
It was everything we could have wanted and more! Joshua met us at the grocery store and we followed him to the site, where he gave us lettuce and kale from their garden, and eggs from their chickens! He showed us all around the RV and had all of the maps out for us to look at. It was such an incredible experience, and very memorable trip. There were 4 of us total and the bunk beds are MUCH bigger than they appear on the pictures, we were comfortably able to fit 4 adults in the RV for 3 nights and 4 days!!! Highly recommended!
