This apartment offers one of the most famous views of Amsterdam, over the Prinsengracht canal, on top location: The Jordaan - walking distance to the most famous spots in the old city centre.
The accommodation is basic but clean and comfortable. It's very light and spacious. Perfect for singles or couples, no matter on vacation or business trip; it has a wireless internet, and an i-pod dock and a big desk. The bed is soft and has a comfortable mattrass. The apartment is set on the third floor of the building, with stairs to climb, so not recommended for elderly or guests with walking disabilities.
The area / neighborhood
You’ll love the area with lots of nice restaurants and bars very close by. I’d like to recommend the market on the Noordermarkt, there’s a flea market on Monday morning and an organic farmer's market on Saturday morning. Antiques and second-hand books are usually represented on both days.

I try to welcome and look after my guests in person as much as I can. Matching your arrival time with my working hours and family life unfortunately doesn't always work out. I then ask a friend to be your host and show you around in the apartment.

Such a lovely sun-filled apartment perfectly situated for exploring the city - and relaxing afterwards. Gorgeous canal views. Well appointed, clean, simple and extremely comfortable for the 5 days my daughter and I spent in Amsterdam. The new sofa is a great addition to the airy space. Valentine and her friend Ron were outstanding hosts - welcoming and generous with their recommendations. We'd happily stay here again.
We loved our stay here and it made our time in Amsterdam very relaxing and enjoyable. We were welcomed by our host on time who provided great guidance and tips on what to see. The apartment was exactly as described with great views of the canal Prinsengraht. It was clean and well equipped to live comfortably for a week. Just be aware that there are steep stairs to the 3rd floor but then again I suspect any apartment in Amsterdam has steep stairs. The location couldn't have been better with great restaurants, bars, and shops within easy walking distance. If you want to enjoy Amsterdam and feel like a local this is a great apartment.
We were welcomed by Peter who welcomes guests when Valentine is unavailable. He greeted us with a bottle of wine and would have been happy to advise us on all the best places to go. We have visited Amsterdam many times before so didn't need too much advice but he seemed like a font of knowledge. The flat was immaculately clean and extremely well equipped, far more so than I was expecting. There was ample spare bed linen, towels etc. In the kitchen were various teas, coffee pods, salt, pepper, oil etc plus cleaning products and also toiletries and washing detergent in the bathroom. The flat was so comfortable and light. WiFi is pretty good and there is cable tv and an iPod dock. The location was perfect for us. The Jordaan is a bohemian area with boutique shops and restaurants. It's is quieter than the centre but an easy 10 min walk to Dam Square. We loved it and would certainly stay again.
Valentine and her friend Ron rolled out the welcome mat with a bottle of wine, guides and maps of Amsterdam, and good advice on how to make the most of the city. Moreover, they were very professional in explaining how to use the apartment and during check-in and -out, and made themselves available (although that was not necessary).
The apartment is perfectly located on the Prinsengracht, near Noodermarkt, so near the heart of the Jordaan. Sure, it's on the 3rd floor and up steep stairs but that is normal in Amsterdam. The interior is basic and no-frills. The apartment is on the older side and is - as Valentine describes in the listing - basic. During hot summer days the apartment can get quite warm since it gets heat from both the windows and the roof. Also, the bathroom is very spacious (his and her sinks perfect for couples!), but note that the toilet takes a good while to spool before filling up for the next flush (and yeah, sometimes you need to flush more than once!).
Thanks Valentine and Ron for a very nice stay!
Others have already said it, but this apartment is in a terrific location for eating, shopping, sight seeing, access to public transportation, sidewalk sitting and people watching! It is away from the crowds, but still has a lively buzz. The apartment was perfect for us. It is clean and cozy, with a comfortable bed in a quiet back bedroom, good supply of kitchen dishes and utensils, and a luxuriously large bathroom with a much appreciated washing machine after two weeks of travel. The bank of windows at the front gave us a lovely view of the canal and all the activity that goes on in and around it. The stairs are steep, indeed, but not that hard to navigate if you keep your luggage light. Wifi worked well and reliably. We concur that Peter is a charming host, interesting to talk with and gracious in offering his service should we need anything (we didn't). We would definitely stay here again.
I loved this apartment and would definitely stay again. The location was fantastic and so was the view. Yes, the stairs are steep. But, so are a lot of places in Amsterdam and I'd rather have those steps and that view than not.
The apartment had everything I needed and the bathroom was very nice and big. Super warm, too (I was there over New Year's). Lots of places to eat and shop close by. I walked everywhere - to the Rijks, Oude Kerk, Stedelijk, Rembrandt House - and really enjoyed ending my day in this quiet apartment.
