This apartment offers one of the most famous views of Amsterdam, over the Prinsengracht canal, on top location: The Jordaan - walking distance to the most famous spots in the old city centre.
The accommodation is basic but clean and comfortable. It's very light and spacious. Perfect for singles or couples, no matter on vacation or business trip; it has a wireless internet, and an i-pod dock and a big desk. The bed is soft and has a comfortable mattrass. The apartment is set on the third floor of the building, with stairs to climb, so not recommended for elderly or guests with walking disabilities.
The area / neighborhood
You’ll love the area with lots of nice restaurants and bars very close by. I’d like to recommend the market on the Noordermarkt, there’s a flea market on Monday morning and an organic farmer's market on Saturday morning. Antiques and second-hand books are usually represented on both days.
I try to welcome and look after my guests in person as much as I can. Matching your arrival time with my working hours and family life unfortunately doesn't always work out. I then ask a friend to be your host and show you around in the apartment.
Others have already said it, but this apartment is in a terrific location for eating, shopping, sight seeing, access to public transportation, sidewalk sitting and people watching! It is away from the crowds, but still (email hidden)ly buzz. The apartment was perfect for us. It is clean and cozy, with a comfortable bed in a quiet back bedroom, good supply of kitchen dishes and utensils, and a luxuriously large bathroom with a much appreciated washing machine after two weeks of travel. The bank of windows at the front gave us a lovely view of the canal and all the activity that goes on in and around it. The stairs are steep, indeed, but not that hard to navigate if you keep your luggage light. Wifi worked well and reliably. We concur that Peter is a charming host, interesting to talk with and gracious in offering his service should we need anything (we didn't). We would definitely stay here again.
I loved this apartment and would definitely stay again. The location was fantastic and so was the view. Yes, the stairs are steep. But, so are a lot of places in Amsterdam and I'd rather have those steps and that view than not.
The apartment had everything I needed and the bathroom was very nice and big. Super warm, too (I was there over New Year's). Lots of places to eat and shop close by. I walked everywhere - to the Rijks, Oude Kerk, Stedelijk, Rembrandt House - and really enjoyed ending my day in this quiet apartment.
Lovely little apartment on a beautiful canal! Stairs beware! They are steep and narrow. Don't bring a big suitcase! Travel light and you will have a wonderful stay in this great apartment. The view of the canal from the large windows is magical. The bed is comfy, the tub is great for soaking, and the kitchen was clean and functional. Valentine's friend, Peter, welcomed us and made sure we were comfortable with everything in the apartment. He also had great suggestions for things to do and see in the local area. The apartment is in a perfect location and we would definitely stay here again.

The location of this apartment is amazing. You can do everything walking. The stairs are not a problem at all.
The apartment have a great view to the canal, it's cozy and very practical. The bathroom is big. The room have space and no noise at all due to it's location, in the back.
Peter was our host. Very helpful and kind.
It's definitively a place to stay!
Easter weekend at Valentine's flat was lovely. We had no problems finding the place and everything was in easy walking distance. The bathroom in particular was a dream and I only wish we'd had longer to enjoy the place. Thanks again Valentine!
The location of Valentine's apartment is really ideal. It is close to the central train station and is on one of the main canals of Amsterdam. There are lots of shops and restaurants very nearby, and while you can sometimes hear people on the street who are out until late, yet the apartment feels very tranquil, especially in the bedroom, which is in the back of the apartment. (Note that you do have to be quiet in the bedroom when the windows are open as the sound carries to nearby apartments.) When not out exploring, we loved sitting in the living room watching the boats go by on the canal below.
The stairs are steep and take some getting used to, but if you are in moderately good shape, you should be fine. Lugging large suitcases up them regularly would be a challenge, however.
The apartment was very clean and nice, with simple furnishings. The bed is *very* comfortable, being both soft but also supportive. Having use of a washing machine was very important for us. We were told that the dryer was not working, so we had to air dry our clothes, which was fine, but required some planning ahead as it took an extra day to get everything dry.
The kitchen has a small refrigerator (no freezer), a microwave, toaster, electric kettle, and a small assortment of pots and pans. It might be tough to cook a gourmet meal there, but you can easily get by with some cooking.
We would definitely recommend this apartment for anyone looking for a quiet place to stay in central Amsterdam!
