Please do not help yourself to the washing machine without prior agreement as there is a small fee for this. If you do smoke, would you kindly use the garden. No drinks/food other than water in the bedroom.
See you Soon
We've had fantastic luck with hosts on this site, and with Ruth this was no exception. You may have noticed from her profile that she speaks other languages and made such a great effort with her French with my French wife and mother-in-law that it put my own level of French to shame! :o)
I mention the above because it demonstrates very well that if you stay with Ruth, you'll be staying with a host who is very open, very communicative, someone you sense wishes to share moments with you and to make you feel at ease (even if this means she'll be speaking another language). She's a very warm host, gave some great tips on the town of Folkestone and provided us with a very comfortable family room and toys for our daughter. Our only regret was we did not get to stay another night or two, so we'll just have to go back then won't we?
I've always had a fondness for Folkestone, above that of other Kentish seaside towns. I wish for regular cultural exchanges between France and England, especially for my growing daughter, so I hope Ruth will accept us as regular guests and I highly recommend staying with Ruth to make the most of Kent and Folkestone, whether breaking up your journey en route or for visiting Kent.
We'll be in contact soon for another stay Ruth!
Ruth lives in a pleasant house, in Folkestone. Close to France and the beautiful Kent countryside, it has all the amenities for a short stay and is 10 minutes to town and the train station. At £35 a night, I feel it was a bit expensive for what I got though. My other issue is that Ruth is doing it really for the money and I felt I was in the way a bit. However, we had some lovely conversations in the kitchen. Also, be warned: if you are tall, the roofs in the top bedroom are irritatingly slopped. I kept banging my head and the stairs are very narrow. Be careful of the cute and adorable kittens. As cats do, they sit on the stairs and won`t move. There was no TV in the room, the single bed was too small for me and I had to sleep in the double bed, the room was constantly cold and a bit gloomy. Throughout the house, notices inform you of the rules. This is a good idea but I had to keep reading them and I wasn`t too sure, if I should be doing this and that. As to laundry, it is best to go to a launderette and the recycling issues were complicated, for me anyway. For a day or two, staying at Ruth`s house is suitable. But only for a day or two.
My stay was short, only one night but Ruth was a great host. I got in late after taking a train down from London (after my international flight). She suggested a place for dinner that hit the spot. Ruth is a warm person with two playful and fun kittens. I would definitely stay with Ruth again if down her way.
I spent one month at Ruth's house and I felt myself as at home, having access to all comforts and facilities. At my arrival Ruth welcomed me at the train station, brought me to her house by car and offered me a wonderful dinner. Ruth's generosity and attitude during my all staying were far beyond any expectations. She always made sure that I had everything I needed to feel comfortable and on my departure she accompanied me to the train station.
The house was exactly as described and provided a perfect environement for my studying as I came to England to complete my English study. By the way, Ruth is a highly qualified and wonderful English teacher !
The location of the house is very close to the train and bus stations, there are several supermarkets in a walking distance, as well as the town centre and sea front walk. The neighbourhood environement is very quiet and safe. Free parking places are easily available on the street.
I especially liked the feeling of freedom in the house as I never felt being restricted in any of my activities, including practicing my music instrument - flute. My room was spacious, well heated and lighted, with plenty storage space. I had full access to the kitchen at my convenience and the necessary space for keeping my food in the fridge and in the cupboard.
Ruth is a very nice host, her sense of hospitality is very rare, especially with the children. We had a very good experience in her typical house, my children appreciated the two lovely kittens too. I warmly recommand this adress ! Thank's for all Ruth
Very pleasant place. Its was a little cosy room. Lovely house, large comfortable kitchen and warm place.
Ruth is a young traveller spirit. Warm and social. Make me feel well. Highly recommend her place.

Hi, I'm Ruth and if you decide to stay in this delightful part of the country I'll make every effort to make you feel welcome and at home. I teach English as a Foreign Language, love travelling and getting to know people and finding out about their culture. I am fluent in German and quite good at French. Love entertaining friends with a healthy meal. Recently discovered Zumba, which is a fun way of exercising. Like cycling, walking and generally leading a peaceful and reflective life. I've brought up my 22 yr old son single-handed and now looking forward to a new season in my life where I can travel and do things solo.
