"Cathy is a WONDERFUL hostess and a DELICIOUS person! She was overwhelmingly welcome, left us our special eggs from "the girls," helped us make arrangements for a zip line tour and a Biltmore visit, provided us with lots of Asheville reading materials and gave us a wonderful tour of our precious little home for the week. The bed is comfortable, sheets clean and cozy, space heaters available should you get cold, and hot water for your shower or bath in the sweet claw foot tub. She is quick to respond to texts and available whenever you need her. It was the perfect getaway from our NYC living and Cathy did all but convince us to move there! I highly recommend staying with her in any of her 3 charming apartments!" ~ Emilie, Manhattan
Experience Asheville's premiere Montford Historic District in a completely private, quiet, spacious guest apartment. I have THREE AIRBNB APARTMENTS located in a beautiful two story, owner-occupied home. Be sure to check out the other two, #2 and #3 in the same location. This location can't be beat; each is close to town but QUIET without the street noise. This apartment is on the ground floor on the right hand side of the house. The 3,000 sq. ft. home is on a quiet side street and offers off-street parking and a SAFE and FRIENDLY neighborhood. On site eco-considerations: organically raised CHICKENS (no roosters=no early morning noise), rain barrels for water cachement, organic vegetable gardens, composting, and vermiculture. Worms eat my garbage and provide me with their nutrient rich castings for the garden. Enjoy the lovely back yard gardens in the hammock under the shade trees or resting in the sun. Be entertained by my six goofy chickens.
"Cathy's apartments in her home are a great and affordable way to stay in Asheville. They're located just north of downtown Asheville and are within an easy drive to many surrounding sites and attractions. Our apartment was exactly as advertised including fresh eggs upon our arrival which were some of the best eggs I've ever had. Cathy is very quick to respond to questions and needs and had spot-on recommendations for restaurants, cafes and the like. I highly recommend Cathy and this listing." Hiram, New York City
"Cathy was a stellar host and the room was perfect for what we needed. It was a wonderful blend of privacy, space, proximity to downtown and helpful tips from Cathy of where to go and what to do based on our interests. We look forward to our next stay! This is the best place we've stayed in our numerous trips to Asheville." ~ Jon

If you get in late and want to walk to a nice reasonable dinner, perhaps you'll stop in Nine Mile Cafe, one of our two neighborhood pubs which is just TWO BLOCKS from the apartment.
You'll find the beautiful Asheville BOTANICAL GARDEN and lovely trails an easy 10 minute walk. Each species of native vegetation is marked for easy identification. Enjoy their quaint gift shop. Adjacent to the Botanical Gardens is University of North Carolina's Asheville campus.

Come see for yourself why Asheville has been called "THE PARIS OF THE SOUTH" and Trip Advisor lists Asheville on the Top 10 Destinations for Food and Wine. I am a former professional chef and baking instructor (pastry chef at The Biltmore Estate) and so recommending great food is my passion. There's plenty to choose from here. Farm to table, vegan, gluten-free, organic are all words that describe many Asheville restaurants.
"I can hardly wait to get back to Asheville and stay with Cathy again in her great location in historic Montford. I felt very much at home in the spacious, attractive apartment with windows all around, including the one overlooking her beautiful garden area and hen house. The fresh eggs were delicious in the morning, too. I found Cathy very warm and attentive to the big and little things that made the stay memorable. Thank you, Cathy, for making me feel so welcome and comfortable!" ~ Scottie, Raleigh, NC
"We met Cathy when we rented her furnished apartment in Asheville for a month. We immediately became great friends. The apartment was beautiful -- clean, light and open. She had thought of all the little details to make us completely comfortable during our stay, and the kitchen was the best outfitted of any short term furnished rental I have come across. Since I love to cook (and that's one of the reasons I use a furnished rental instead of motel/hotel options when I travel) this was really important to me. Chickens and an organic garden in the back yard in an area full of trees and greenery made an urban location feel like a country retreat. There was also a beautiful common sitting area in the back yard which was the locus of many a pleasant evening conversation or spontaneous potluck meal. We were close to downtown and to the University with its wonderful Saturday tailgate market. Perfect location and perfect hostess! We made a friend for life when we had the good fortune to rent this lovely place from Cathy!" ~ Mora, Asland, OR
There are beautiful mature trees and shrubs on the property: tall hemlocks, a large Japanese maple, white pine, rose of sharon, walnut, serviceberry, native shrubs like laurel, rhododendron, native fern, hydrangea as well as over 500 flowering spring bulbs. The LARGE BACK YARD has organic raised beds for veggies, herbs and flowers which I share with guests. You can relax and enjoy a book or afternoon nap in the back yard hammock. Play bacci ball or croquet or just watch the goofy antics of my nine chickens:
Audrey Hepburn (feathered white hat)
Jane Goodall-lays green eggs
Sally Ride-lays dark brown speckled eggs
Sister Teresa (all white)
Michelle Obama (black bangs)
Pecky Williams-lays blue eggs
Ellen Deheneres-lays copper colored eggs
As I live in the downstairs apartment on the left I'm around when needed or only a text away. If I'm traveling, I will always have someone living on the premises who can assist you. I make a special effort to not be intrusive but close in touch if something is needed. You might see me working in the garden or tending to The Girls. There are time times even though I'm here we won't necessarily run into each other...just the way the apartments are situated. I will check in periodically but won't intrude on your privacy. For those looking to possibly move to Asheville, I have 26 years of experience living in Asheville and would be happy to give you a guided tour of my favorite neighborhoods or provide a list of recommended builders and/or real estate agents. I don't receive kickbacks from any of these folks...I recommend them because they are professional and good at what they do.

Her place looked just like the picture. Clean, quaint and beautiful! My friend and I came for a girl's trip to Asheville and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The beds were comfy (I slept on the futon with a mattress topper and was very comfortable) and my friend slept in the bed. We enjoyed fresh eggs from her adorable backyard chickens for breakfast each morning and had a great view of the backyard where we could watch them roam. We felt like we were staying with friends or family. Cathy made us feel very much at home!
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Cathy's downstairs apartment. Very spacious, neat and comfortable living quarters. This place has everything you need. Located in a wonderful little historic neighborhood. It is a great location, very convenient to everything and super close to downtown. Would not hesitate to book again!
Wonderful! The apartment is just as described. Comfy, cozy, roomy, tastefully decorated, fantastic location. Cathy was a perfect hostess, and then some. We had a late arrival and she was very accommodating and made sure to have the apt nice and toasty for us (it was a very cold night). Very comfortable bed. Great kitchen and bath, has everything you need. Cathy definitely sees things from a guest's perspective and thinks of everything you may need before you know you need it. It was snowy out one day so we stayed in and found a supply of board games, which was so thoughtful of her to have on hand. Our only disappointment was that we didn't have more time to visit with Cathy! But she was always just a quick text away with helpful info and recommendations for restaurants, etc. Highly recommend staying here.
Lovely apartment with everything one could need! Gorgeous neighborhood near a walking path -- close to downtown, UNC-A campus and easy to find.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Cathy's cozy apartment. The bed was comfortable, the linen top quality, the accommodation was private, clean, spacious and tastefully decorated. The convenient attached sitting room, handy kitchen, complementary eggs from Cathy's chickens in the back yard all combined to offer a sense of 'home away from home'. It was just as described and would certainly not be found in some cookie-cutter hotel room! Cathy was a gracious host and we were aware of other guests but hardly saw or heard them. We had our own space to come and go from and we appreciated that. We would not hesitate to visit again and definitely would recommend Cathy's apartments to others.
Cute, quaint, and clean. What more can you ask for? Cathy is an attentive host who pays attention to the little details -- local newspapers waiting for you, chilled beer glasses, bedside chocolates, fresh eggs in the fridge. The apartment was immaculately clean, and the location was top notch in the Historic Montford neighborhood. If you're looking for a place to stay in Asheville look no further.
Staying at Cathy's place is something we look forward to each year. Her place has all the creature comforts of home with an atmosphere for real relaxation.. Cathy has always been accessible and accomodating and we feel very at home.
This was our first airbnb experience and we couldn't be happier! Cathy was a fabulous host. She was there as we pulled up and was available any time during the three nights we stayed there. Not only was the apartment suite clean, spacious, and located near downtown Asheville (within walking distance) it was a quiet street with a park a block away. The location was exactly what we were looking for-close to the action by quiet as well. We would highly recommend Cathy!

Staying at Cathy's house made our visit to Asheville. It was exactly as represented and clean as a whistle. It is conveniently located so we were never more that 10-15 min from our destinations. Getting to meet and know Cathy and her neighborhood was a great bonus. It gave us a sense of the community she lives in. She was very attentive to our needs and a great communicator. We appreciated the ability to cook some of our meals (especially fresh eggs ala "The Girls") in between visiting some great local restaurants. It was our first Airbnb experience and was a very positive experience.
We stayed in one of Cathy's appt. It was absolutely amazing. Cathy was a great host , supper nice!!! Defiantly recommend it!!!!
