Lismore’s favorite riverside retreat is back, after a complete refurbishment. Only four miles from town, but 1000 miles from care! The Dairy at Fig Tree Bend is an original riverfront milking shed, set on a picturesque farm and eco-retreat in the Byron Bay hinterland. A quiet, private location, 40 mins from Byron/Ballina airport.

The space
A two bedroom cottage with one bathroom. Fully air conditioned. Fresh modern decor and quality linen. Figtree Bend farm shows how conservation and farming can work together. We've planted 10,000 trees along the riverbanks in the past 4 years and another 10,000 will be planted in the next two years. This protects the riverbanks and provides habitat for koalas, birds and wildlife. Walks around the property are encouraged.

The Dairy is in a quiet rural area, 1km off the Bruxner Highway down a private sealed drive. It is 8km from downtown Lismore. It's a perfect retreat for students or artists, with great spaces for relaxing and entertaining if you wish to invite a few friends to visit while you're here that’s ok - just let us know.

We’re privileged to be taking care of precious parts of the Northern Rivers, with a unique river property we are working to revegetate and restore, along with a prominent heritage home in Lismore.
We have already planted over 20,000 native trees and grasses - helping rehabilitate what was once part of Australia's most historic areas of rainforest called "The Big Scrub". South Gundurimba was the place where the first Europeans first settled when they came in search of valuable cedar trees in the mid 1800s. As farming families followed, they were given land on the basis all the trees were cleared.
We're now restoring our little corner and we'd love to show you what we're doing and share our unique environment. We'd love to share our recommendations for nearby attractions.
