Room with private entrance and full bath on 8 acre property with trout stream. The mill, surrounded by 30 acres of open space is only 1.25 hours from NYC. It's a great place for a relaxing getaway. Enjoy the seasonal swimming pool, patio, cable, WiFi internet and close proximity to Fairfield/Litchfield County attractions. As we are in the country, you will need a car. Some guests from NYC take Metro North to Danbury on the New Haven Line or Southeast on the Harlem Line and have Enterprise Car Rental meet them. The mill is well situated for day trips to state parks, museums in Hartford and New Haven and several wineries on the CT Wine Trail. Sorry, no smoking or pets.
You have a private entrance, so you can come and go as you please. There is no smoking.
Don kept in touch with us before our arrival and made us feel welcome when we got there. The house and guest suite are beautifully decorated, clean and cozy and the yard is beautiful (even under two feet of snow). The mini fridge, snacks, coffee maker, lots of pillows, luxury linens, toasty bathroom, TV, internet, books and magazines made staying there a pleasure. I hope we can return in the summer.
Don was the perfect host. He was very flexible with check-in time as we were running late from dinner. He also suggested a great ice cream place to stop by on the way in. We when arrived at the mill, he greeted us and showed us around. The place is absolutely beautiful. It's quite and peaceful, very well decorated.
We couldn't have asked for a better host, as he was the perfect combination of helpful but also gave us our own space. He recommended a great breakfast spot on the way to Litchfield and was generally very helpful.
The home is also great. The room for rent is perfect. It oversees the property, has a great bathroom, a comfortable bed, and a spacious sitting area with drinks, snacks and coffee. Really happy that we decided to stay here!
Don has been a great host. The place was beautiful and clean. We loved it. Don gave us some great directions for how to spend our Sunday and it was perfect.
Don our host was an amazingly gracious host who went way beyond the normal boundaries expected of Airbnb to make our stay as pleasurable as possible. His knowledge of the region, and of course the property itself was not only interesting but extremely helpful and insightful. The property itself is requisite of charm and wonderful vistas and amenities. The house/room was exactly as described and was a peaceful retreat of tranquility. Not a single part of the advertisement was false as the entire description was door on accurate. This was a great get a way experience.
Very peaceful and comfortable accommodations. We rented the room in the home but we had a private entrance. Our space included two rooms and a private bathroom which was all clean and cozy. Don has literally thought of everything to make your stay pleasant. From coffee, snacks and supplies there were a lot of extras that we didn't expect for such a reasonable price. Finally the property was just breath taking. Seeing the pictures does not give it true justice. Breathing in the pure clean air felt amazing. This was our first air bnb experience and it was truly incredible. We highly recommend this place.
Don was terrific and his property was beautiful. Very hospitable and pleasant. The room was very comfortable and well-kept.
We booked the room but Don gave us the whole "Cozy Cottage" A very nice, great place to stay. In one word complete. The kitchen, the bathroom, the library (!) We loved the garden with his fairytale atmosphere and the playing squirrels. Or were they fighting? A perfect place to rest. U2 has "The unforgettable fire', Don has "The unforgettable cottage"( with also fireplaces). Don is a nice, relaxed guy. He gave valuable information.

Photography, jazz, kayaking and life at the mill are among my favorite things. Working as a commercial photographer for over 30 years, I've done my share of traveling. The best trips always involve meeting great people, who know the location and love to share their knowledge. And wherever I go, I'm always searching for a great Thai restaurant. As a host, I try and return the favor.
