Great place to stay! The conditions in the house are excellent, the kitchen is complete and clean same as the bathroom and the rest of the house, the whole property is beautiful and it gives you a cozy and secure feeling as soon as you step in. The location is perfect to be really close to the nature and the main beaches in the area. Nona and his husband were really friendly awesome people to have around since they know the area really good.
Nona's place was the perfect place for us (2 teachers) to stay while visiting Costa Rica. She picked us up from the bus stop and gave us all the information we needed on how to explore town. We fell in love with her family and the town pretty quickly. Cahuita is quiet and boasts two beautiful beaches which is just what we wanted. Nona and her kids were tons of fun (really, they are awesome) and invited us along to join them in activities if we wanted but also lived their own lives of course, too. We found our interaction with her to be a lovely balance and plan to go back as soon as we can to see the town and Nona and her family.
Location-wise, we really loved being a little way away from town. The walk is very close to town (about 7 minutes) and a nice way to start and end the day. Nona (or someone connected to her) is often in town at the tourist office so you can always stop there to ask a question or just chat for a bit (we enjoyed doing that!). We were often offered rides home when we stopped by, too which was really nice.
All of this is to say we would have loved to move in to Nona's cabina. The house itself is a great size and modern and clean. We liked being able to shop at the market and use the refrigerator to cook for ourselves. Plus, it is safe and modern but you still wake up to spectacular rainforest sounds!
Anyways, we almost didn't want to write too great of a review so that it isn't always booked and we can keep coming back!
You won't regret it.
Nona has been a great host. She has been really kind with us and had very good advices. The place to live is a little bit isolated from the house so we had a perfect privacy when we wanted it, but was close enough to have interactions with Nona and her family. By the way, her children are really cute and nice. We warmly recommend this place
Our family (including two little ones) stayed here at Willie's Tours Cabana for 2 weeks, and had a fabulous time. The cabin is very clean and cozy, with a full bathroom, comfortable sleeping for 4, and a well stocked kitchen to make your own meals. The outdoor area is beautiful as well, with a pavilion with hammocks and lots of local wildlife. The walk into town is short and easily manage-able without a car, even for kiddos with short little legs. Nona and her family were incredibly helpful hosts and made us feel very welcome. Because they also run a tour company they have lots of tips about what to do and where to go on your trip. I would definitely come back here!
We had an extremly pleasant stay at Nona's house. The house is very clean, cosy and quite. And Nona is a very nice host with many usefull information about the region. And our kids were so happy to play with other kids. We fully recommend this nice place!
lovely place, lovely people. I truly enjoyed my stay at Nona's place. Clean, comfortable, cozy - very pleasant. Nona's husband George organized a very nice trip to a little place called Bri Bri - a bit of local anthropological flavour - and beautiful chocolate. Highly recommended. If I decide to come back to Cahuita, then I would not doubt to choose a place - definitely at Nona.
Originally from New York I first came to Costa Rica in 2000 and fell in love with the astounding natural beauty of the country and the warmth of the people. I vowed one day I would live here. Seven years later my husband and I got married here, opened a tour company and have two beautiful children . We have made our home here on the Caribbean side in the small village of Cahuita. I love to go on excursions with my children to the beach at the Cahuita National Park, the Tree of Life animal rescue center, local swimming pools and the new children's park .
I love to indulge in the local cuisine such Rice&Beans, anything with coconut sauce, and fresh fish. I also enjoy morning yoga classes by the ocean.
