Guest access
You will have your access to our private canyon (sometimes access is limited when cows are grazing) and garden in season. You have your own private parking area, deck, and access to a shared laundry room. (Exterior laundry room is shared with our family and another cabin. The laundry room is on the exterior, there are no shared indoor spaces)

Other things to note
The Shack is located in CANE BEDS, AZ, a small rural community with beautiful views. AirBnb automatically sets our location as Fredonia because we share the same zip code. Although this means you will be further from the north rim of the Grand Canyon, you will be 30 minutes closer to Zion, Bryce, and the Coral Pink Sand Dunes!

PLEASE NOTE: Hot tub maintenance is frequently necessary. This is usually done in the morning of check out. Please be advised that our maintenance crew may come up and work on the tub tub in the morning. We will always message in advance if someone will be coming to look at it in the evening and get permission prior to coming.

THERE IS NO CELL SERVICE. Our internet is set up for wifi calling if it's enabled on your phone.

AN IMPORTANT NOTE TO OUR GUESTS: The North Rim of the Grand Canyon is closed from December 1st-Jiune 1st. The only ways to visit the GC during this time is through the "Desert View" or South Rim. Both of these locations are approximately 4 hours from from the cabin. During the open season from May 1st to December 1st we are 90 minutes from the north rim.

We do have two kayaks with life jackets available for off site use (we have two local reservoirs that are just 10 minutes away that are excellent for kayaking). You will need to have a vehicle suitable for transporting the kayaks or we can take them to the reservoir for you and pick them up for an additional $50 fee. You are also welcome to take them down to Sand Hollow Reservoir for the day but you would need to have an appropriate vehicle to transport them in (pickup truck or large SUV will the seats able to fold down).

We live in a rural area on a ranch and farm and have many animals and pets. Some are penned in and some free-range like our chickens and dogs. You may hear our dogs barking in the middle of the night or a rooster crow. You may hear coyotes laughing and yelping. We welcome you as our guests and try to be as accommodating as possible. However, farm life happens...:) Please try to be patient if unexpected issues arise during your stay. We are always open for recommendations and comments/suggestions and strive to offer our guests a wonderful experience here.

We do have bugs in our area! Flies in the summer, daddy long legs throughout the year, sometimes wasps and bees, lots of moths in the summer nights. Although we do our best to keep them at bay, you may see them hanging around.

In the wintertime you may have an encounter with mice. We do our very best to be vigilant to keep the cabins mouse free but occasionally they find ways to get in. If you see a mouse please alert us immediately so we can take care of it.

We also have rattlesnakes in the area, please be careful and watch out! (We usually only see one or two a year, at the most. We just like to caution people.)

Most useless skill: Tongue twisting
I am a wife and mother to 4 babes. We live on a ranch on 400 acres in northern Arizona, nestled against a stunning backdrop of red sandstone cliffs. I am a lover of all things organic, beautiful, and delicious. I married the love of my life in Guatemala after working 6 months there in an orphanage (where I learned to speak Spanish fluently.) I have been singing my whole life and love to perform everything from jazz to folk to blues and gospel (I especially love singing in Spanish, French, and Portuguese!) I have been hosting on AirBnB since June 2016 and I love it. It's awesome to be able to provide a clean, comfortable, and peaceful retreat for guests from around the world. It has allowed me to harness all my frustrations from years of staying in cold, cheap hotels, and instead craft a memorable experience for the people who stay with us. One day when my littles are grown I hope to travel around the world and stay only in AirbnB's. :)
