A bright, restful home base for exploring the many delights of the Viroqua area! A historic home with a modern craft feel, the Nest is a quiet haven in the heart of vibrant downtown Viroqua. When you walk down the 100-year-old staircase from your room, you are a moment's walk from our top local coffee destination -- the Kickapoo Cafe, our lively Farmer's Market, and all that Main Street Viroqua has to offer!

The space
The house is a delightful historic home with a modern feel. Your room is spacious and minimalistic, with lovely natural light and a large, luxurious bed with memory foam and a down comforter. The room has a large closet and dresser for guests to use, and a simple, tidy bathroom next door. Adjacent, you'll find the cozy breakfast room, where you can store snacks in the mini fridge, have a treat, or spread out your work station while you're in town.

A couple doors down, enjoy a farm-to-table breakfast with the best coffee in the Driftless Region at the Kickapoo Cafe, or browse the Farmer's Market for local treats and Amish goodies. From the Farmer's Market, pop into the library, or stroll the main drag of local shops and restaurants. There are lovely paths for walking in natural places a ten minute's walk away. Other popular food destinations such as the Rooted Spoon, Driftless Cafe, and Viroqua Food Co-op are also blocks away and an easy walk from the house.

Guest access
You are welcome here! Move in and out of the house as needed. We currently don't have individual locks for rooms. Viroqua is not a place that needs a lot of locking up, but if you have a personal need for locking, let me know!

While here, the upstairs Nest room is all yours. I work from home, and frequently am hosting guests of my own, and so as a general rule, the upstairs room is yours to enjoy, while the downstairs spaces are reserved for my workspace. Staying here will feel closer to an upscale, introvert-filled hostel stay than a cut and dry night in a hotel. Some day we may be able to offer more kitchen amenities upstairs, but for now we can provide a simple, quiet sleeping and hangout space. Luckily, great food and coffee abound moments from our doorstep!

I highly recommend an evening walk to the end of South street, where you'll find beautiful open countryside a 10 minute's walk away. Head west all the way to the end of the street, then turn left onto Sidie Hollow Road to say hello to beautiful old oaks in pasture, friendly cows, streams, and woods.

During your stay
I'm an introverted hermit living a highly social work and community life, and my time at home tends to my quiet and restful retreat from an overly social existence. While home, I am available to answer questions and happy to cross paths with guests, but generally appreciate space and quiet as I work from home and go about my life.
