2 bedroom character cottage. Clean and spacious with beams! You're in pole position for Todmorden's beautiful park (& sports centre). An easy 20 min walk on the flat will see you at the famous Todmorden market in the heart of town. There's a plethora of walks and mountain bike trails. The Tourist Info Centre is open 6 days a week to get you on the right track for your visit. Regular trains run to Manchester, Leeds and York from Tod Station, making this an ideal base for long or short stays.

The space
A warm welcome awaits at our beautiful character cottage. The cottage is set back from the main road with a gate off the footpath and a grass verge in front. If you're on public transport you'll love the fact that you can see all the way up Burnley Rd and can spot the bus on its way down so there's no hanging about at the bus stop - the bus stop is a few meters from your front door so you can step outside just as it comes! The front door leads into a vestibule and then into the main living area. The living room is spacious with a 2 seater settee, 2 chairs, a footstool and side tables. The TV has an Amazon Fire Stick to improve the channels on offer and give you the option of using your Netflix account if you have one. An ideal space to kick off your shoes and just relax. The under stairs cupboard is accessed from the living room and here you'll find spare stools for the kitchen, the vac, fire extinguisher and laundry equipment etc. The dining kitchen is well equipped with a dishwasher, built in double oven, microwave, separate fridge and freezer and a washing machine. The dining table is a good size for 2 or 3 people and extendable too. There's miles of worktop space and storage so if you're here for a longer stay you can make it your home and get stuck into some cooking! The back door leads straight onto a very pleasant 'open back' which means there are no fences between you and the neighbours. This was how it used to be and you'll see the out buildings where the toilet and coal stores were. Rodney and Jean live next door and have done for the past few decades so feel free to have a chat and find out more local info. The stairs come off the kitchen and directly at the top of the stairs is the double bedroom. We want you to have everything you need and be comfortable. The mattress is thick and comfy and the curtains have blackout lining. We've also included coat hangers and a hairdryer. The single room also benefits from a quality mattress. Its spacious too - with an area for the bed and then fitted wardrobes and a dressing table at the other end. If you need the space for an office this works well. After all your Yorkshire escapades you'll want a proper shower and this one won't disappoint. A huge double shower is fed from the combi boiler, giving you unlimited hot water. The shower room is fully tiled with a good sized sink and modern loo (no, we don't make you use the outside one!)

Todmorden is a vibrant and thriving market town in the Calderdale Valley, West Yorkshire. There's many independent shops and cafe's. Todmorden's industrial history is still very much apparent not just in terms of architecture but also with the busy canal and railway network.

In terms of things to do once you're here, there are many fantastic walks, cycle routes and horse rides around the town, depending on length, time available and experience, these could range from a walk to the impressive and ever present Stoodley Pike, built to commemorate the end of the Napoleonic Wars, or a gentle stroll on the canal towpath taking in the award winning Fielden Wharf. Also, the Calderdale Way, Pennine Way and Mary Towneley Loop pass through or very close to Todmorden. There is also a self-guided walk around the town centre, which takes in the stunning architecture, the Town Trail, which can be bought online or by cal (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) , as can maps, books and leaflets for all kinds of outdoor activities. The gritstone outcrops also provide an opportunity for bouldering.

Todmorden Town Hall, hosts visits and on the first Sunday of every month there is a free tour of the Grade 1 listed building. Alternatively, you can book a guided tour with one of the fully trained volunteer guides and visit the Heritage Centre, ballroom, Mayor's Parlour and Council Chamber. The building is a fine example of Neo-Classical architecture and the carved stonework of the external pediment represents the town's links to both Yorkshire and Lancashire.

Also worth a visit is Centre Vale Park, which is newly re-open after recent environmental works. With its backdrop of Buckley Wood, it is a scenic delight and provides bowling greens, a sculpture trail, children’s play-area, a skateboard park, a unique bandstand, a tranquil memorial garden as well as a reptile house and aviary.

The Hippodrome Theatre puts on various musicals, plays and shows throughout the year. The town also has its Toy and Model Museum and a well-stocked library. Annual events include a carnival, agricultural show, beer festival and the traditional Easter Pace Egg plays.

Thanks for looking at our accommodation. I manage 3 flats and 1 cottage with my husband Matt. We are local to the area and also have several long term rental properties with lots of happy tenants. Matt sorts out all the maintenance so if anything goes wrong you're in safe hands. We have high standards ourselves and we only rent a property if we'd like to live in it too. When we're at home we enjoy bee keeping, growing veg and walking the dog. (That sounds more idyllic than it often feels!!)
