We really enjoyed our stay at Marketa's house. It had a great view of the ocean and a lovely pool. The ocean was too rough to get in while we were there but the chef said that it isn't usually so rough. The chef cooked breakfast and lunch and the meals were very good. We liked that it was only a ten minute tuk tuk ride to Galle Fort so we could go there and spend a few hours looking around. The only downside to our stay was the lack of hot water which I did not expect considering the price to stay at the house. Also, screens in the bathrooms and kitchen would have cut down on the number of flies in the house. The best part of the house is definitely the pool, it is cleaned daily and was warm even though it rained nearly every day.
thank you, thats great that you enjoyed your staying. :)
Unfortunately you caught very rainy time during your staying in our house i think, because we were in Colombo and it was raining all the time. Thats why water was too cold, but anyway we are going to fix the solar panels on the roof, but unfortunately after high season, because we dont want the guests to be disturbed. So thank you again!
Luxury accommodation with pool and palm trees directly on the beach front. A beautiful place to spend a few relaxed days. The Galle road behind the house can be heard but the is not a problem. Galle is 10 min by car and nice traget for a day visit!
We had a wonderful time at Marketa's beautiful home. It is spotlessly clean, luxurious and well equipped. We were looked after exceptionally well by her staff who cooked the most delicious meals for us! Highly recommended.
Your villa Aura Lanka is beautiful and luxurious !
Your palm garden, terrace and pool overlooking the ocean is fantastic for relaxing and unique !
Your chef is a culinary genius !
Your manager is the best guide to Sri Lanka !
We are happy that we have chosen your villa in Sri Lanka :)
Not only because of great quality and because your villa is new,
but also for its convenient location as it is among the most beautiful beaches,
on the edge of one of the most beautiful cities (historical, restaurants, ..),
and in the middle of all sorts of interesting places that are good to visit in Sri Lanka.
Greetings to all your staff and thank you very much for your hospitality :)
We will surely come back and your villa Aura Lanka happy to recommend to all.

Deal-breaker ( or why I rated this property one-star and suggest you should NOT rent it ) - On the third day of our stay, there was zero water in the property. Not even in flush tanks. I called up some other properties in Hikkaduwa with water and wanted to shift there. I messaged Marketa for a refund for that one day because "water is indeed a basic necessity" and in the hot Srilankan weather you really don't wanna be without water.
After some back and forth email exchanges, she agreed to refund but sent the below message: "Ok you will get your money for last day back as a compensation, but you should think about your lies, that it was only in our property, because it was in whole area. You are from India, you should understand better these water power cuts than european people."
As per me , if you do not have water in your property and the guest wants to vacate, then you refund. period. You cant charge someone without even providing the basic necessity. It does not matter whether am an Indian or an European or an African. I pay the same amount and I expect the same service. You cant ask me to have less expectations just because I belong to a specific race. I can go on about how her point on "You are from India, you should understand better these water power cuts" is such a narrow-minded, stereotypical generalization of a huge country. But thats not the point. I believe an attitude like this was just crossing the line on treating everyone equal.
If you are like me, who thinks this is blatant wrong mentality to expect from a host, then please look for some other property. But, If you don't think this is a big deal, then please check the review is below :-)
Pros : 1) The pool with the beach view is awesome. At nights, lying in the beach bed ( amidst the coconut trees ) and listening to the sound of the waves is super relaxing. 2) Its on the main road between Hikkaduwa and galle . You pretty much have buses and tuk-tuk all the time including late nights.
Cons : 1) Water is a problem. The quantity of water that comes in the taps and showers is very low and it was a pain. 2) Power trips very frequently. If you have all three ACs running the power keeps tripping. However, I think its quite possible that the owners would be able to fix this and water going forward. 3) There is no restaurant nearby. They have a good kitchen and cook. But if you like to stroll down to some good restaurant once in a while, then you have to take a tuk-tuk or bus.
Sometimes it happens in Sri lanka, these power cuts - electric a water. Not only in our villa. It was shame you were there without water and I am sorry, next thing is you wanted to cancel it last day of accomodation. I could cancel it first day if I knew it there was a water problem. Our local manager said it was in whole area.
It was not really meant rasistic anyway.
my friends and I spent two magical weeks in the villa. sun beach pool ... certainly return here
