The location is exceptional. The city is easily accessable on foot with most attractions within 15 minute walking distance (St. Stephens Green, Guinness Storehouse, Christchurch Cathedral, Temple Bar). There are many public transport options such as bus, luas/tram, bike or taxi should you wish to travel further. The Blackpitts area itself has fantastic cafes such as Fumbally and Noshington Cafe, along with restaurants and pubs. There is a 'Mace' convenience store 2 minutes walk away and a larger 'Tesco express' supermarket within 5 minutes walk. The number 16 bus from the airport stops minutes from the house. The Dublin Flea market is held on the last sunday of every month in Newmarket Square just minutes from the house.
Me and my family were in Dublin for literally 24 hours and had the pleasure of staying in Gill's amazing apartment while we were there. Our flight got in incredibly early, but Gill was more than accommodating in coming and cleaning the flat that morning, which is when we met her to drop our rucksacks before going out to explore. Her hospitality was more than anything we expected, with breakfast items waiting for us in the fridge as well as the cutest cottage I have stayed in in awhile. The location is great and literally a ten minute walk from the city centre (which is perfect in my eyes as not too noisy at night) and such a nice little neighbourhood. I would definitely recommend Gill's cottage to anyone who is looking to go to Dublin as her place made our trip so much better, with the little homely touches.
We stayed at Gills for a week and the place is really great.
Gill welcomed us personally on Sunday evening, and left some bread and milk there for us (she said). Well, actually there were sausages in the fridge and all ingredients for a full Irish breakfast. Cereals et al.
The house is brand new refurbished, lovely done up and in walking distance of the city centre and all the attractions. There are shops immediately round the corner, plenty of take away's etc.
I will more than happily recommend Gills place to everyone.
Great place, great location and super host.
thanks for having us.
A fantastic house, host and experience! We (4 adults) had the privilege of being Gill's first guests and couldn't have been better looked after. From the point of booking Gill provided us with information on getting to and from the airport, restaurants and pubs, and places to visit, and was always speedily available throughout our stay.
The house is beautiful and comfortable (there are 2 big double beds and a double air mattress, plenty of space for 4-5 adults), newly renovated with all the modern essentials you may need, and more. There is a strong wifi connection, TV, hairdryer, dish washer, and an abundance of towels and bed sheets...The fridge wad filled with plenty of food for breakfast, and Gill even provided us with a key and umbrella each!
The house is located on a quiet street about a 15 minute walk from the city centre, very easily accessible and away from all the hustle and bustle of Dublin city. We could easily walk to and from and a taxi at night cost us around 10 euro.
We were extremely happy with our stay, and I couldn't recommend it and Gill more highly.
