The Space

3D is a contemporary one bedroom ( 1 bedroom or 1 BR ) condominium @ Prospect & Brady on the lower Eastside, one of Milwaukee's most walkable neighborhoods, near the Lakefront, Downtown and the Eastside. 3D's kitchen was professionally remodeled with Cherry cabinets, granite counters, stainless appliances, the bath with custom cabinets, glass, ceramic and porcelain tile has a shower over tub; maple flooring, and new windows complete the unit in a quiet, ideally located high-rise condominium building. (If you're new to Airbnb, note that we require a "trusted" or "verified" profile with a photo of YOU validating your identity prior to acceptance of a reservation request. Walk to the lakefront, McKinley Marina, Milwaukee Community Sailing Center, the Milwaukee Yacht Club, Bradford Beach, Veterans Park, Juneau Park, McKinley Park, Back Bay Park, Milwaukee Art Museum, Charles Allis Art Museum, Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum, Discovery World, Shank Hall, Jazz-in-the-Park (2 folding chairs are provided), Cathedral Square, East Town, Milwaukee Public Market, Historic Third Ward, Maier Festival Park (home of Summerfest & Milwaukee Ethnic Festivals), Lakeshore State Park, shops and restaurants too numerous to mention, and Brady St or North Ave nightlife.

The Oak Leaf Trail running and bike path leading to/from downtown, north to Milwaukee River parks and northshore communities is accessed less than one block from 3D. Launch your kayak or canoe in the Milwaukee River or on Lake Michigan, rent a paddleboat on the lagoon, or just go fly a kite in Veterans Park; they're all a short walk away. Or relax after a walk on one of 3 roof-top decks to view sunrises, sunsets, summer weekend fireworks, or the stars and city lights. (Note: there is ongoing work to the building's façade this summer which may restrict access to the decks.)

3D is within 5 minutes +/- by car or bus to UWM, MSOE, MATC, the Bradley Center, Delta Airlines Convention Center, US Cellular Arena, Pabst Theater, Milwaukee Theater, Marcus Center for the Performing Arts, Broadway Theater Center, and Milwaukee Public Museum; :10 to Marquette University and the Harley-Davidson Museum; less than 15 minutes to Miller Park baseball stadium, Bayview and the vitality of S Kinickinic Ave, Shorewood, Whitefish Bay, Glendale and Bayshore Town Center. Via your bicycle 3D is 15 minutes to the convention center or :30 to/from the Lake Express Ferry.

3D has a secure parking space in an underground, heated (in winter) garage.

There are over 50 restaurants within walking distance in summer months and more than half that many on very cold winter days, but 3D also has a galley kitchen equipped with range, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator w/ ice-maker, coffee maker, toaster, and pots & pans, etc. if you wish to prepare a meal and dine in. We can help with grocery suggestions from Beans & Barley to Whole Foods, Koppa's neighborhood grocery store or Glorioso's Italian Market, the Milwaukee Public Market or Metro Market. They each have a deli if your time is better spent kayaking on Lake Michigan, biking or hiking along the Milwaukee River, checking out museums, or walking along the RiverWalk from north of downtown to the Historic Third Ward or just shopping on Brady Street. 3D's Walk Score: 91 A Walker's Paradise.

If you plan to use public transportation, 3D is on bus Routes 15 and 30 and less than 5 blocks to Route 10. If you are flying into Milwaukee, you can take the Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) Greenline Express bus to 3D from the airport for $2.25 in a lovely ride of about 35 minutes. It has a stop within 1/2 block of 3D. (The Greenline can also be used to go north to Bayshore Towne Center in about 15-20 minutes.)

From May 30-September 8, 2012 you can also ride the Downtown Trolley. It's a 3 block walk to the Loop which can transport you to East Town, Westown, Water Street, Old World Third Street, the Historic Third Ward, the Milwaukee Art Museum, and many favorite spots in Milwaukee.   • What a great little spot, in an ideal section of Milwaukee!
    I travel to MKE every month for business and had been staying at a few hotels in the area. This time, I decided to try an Airbnb for the (website hidden)'s place, located right near busy, colorful Brady Street, is a super convenient rental. Whole Foods Market and Colectivo Coffee are just a 10 min walk away. You can cross the street and walk along the Oak Leaf Trail down the lakefront. A cozy wine bar/local foods restaurant (Allium) is also very close by. If you're looking to explore, this is an easy pick.

    The unit is very clean, warm (super critical, being so close to the lake) and well kept; Jo stocks local coffee and some simple breakfast goods for guests. A few differently sized pots and pans would have been helpful (I cook oatmeal every morning and the unit just has one rather large pot - too much for a breakfast or soup for one person!), but there is plenty of silverware and dishware. The bed is very comfy and the pull-out bed for the sofa is pretty good, too; mattress a little bouncy, but I slept just fine!

    I would definitely recommend Jo's rental and will likely try coming back here, myself, on return visits to Milwaukee :)

  • Very nice place. Was very clean, and bed was comfortable. Covered parking with door opener was (website hidden) was great and was very flexible as far as meeting us on our schedule and even gave us a lift downtown! Location is great near lots of cool bars, restaurants, coffee shops, and a nice waterfront park. There is a pull out sleeper love seat that we used. Not the most comfortable for sleeping, but few are I suppose. Overall we would recommend. This is a great set up for a couple that wants to be near a hip area of Milwaukee!

  • Great place, as promised in a great location. The hosts, both Jo & Bruce were responsive and helpful. The clean, lovely apartment with great views place made for a great first time experience with Air BnB .

    We hope to return there on a future Milwaukee visit...

    For other first timers, the one thing I learned is to read everything possible from the hosts and to ask any clarifying questions earlier in the process...

  • Jo's apartment was perfect for my stay in Milwaukee. She was quite informative on how to get there and met us at the door. The apartment was clean and comfortable, walking distance to some of the coolest bars and restaurants Milwaukee has to offer... and also, it is very warm (considering it was 5-degrees)!

  • Bruce and Jo were gracious hosts, meeting us at the apartment to hand over the keys and even stocking the kitchen with muffins, coffee and tea for breakfast. Their guidebook helped us plan where to eat and sites we wanted to visit. 3D is in an incredible location, we were able to walk to the lake and along streets filled with boutiques, great restaurants and bars. Thanks so much for a wonderful weekend!

  • My husband and I greatly enjoyed staying in 3D @ Prospect & Brady! Bruce could not have been more accommodating and the apartment was wonderful. It was clean, well taken care of and convenient to everything we needed. All in all, delightful place to be for the holidays. While there was some construction noise, it was never really a problem and Bruce properly warned us before we arrived. My husband and I are hoping to make another trip this summer and if we do, we will definitely check out 3D @ Prospect & Brady's availability!

  • Jo was incredibly helpful as we traveled into Milwaukee and greeted us with some fruit, orange juice, milk, and muffins for our brief stay. It was just me and my boyfriend and was a very comfortable space. The location was really fantastic. We love wandering to various bars and restaurants, it was ideal for just that! There's a CVS and Walgreens within a half a block walk which was also convenient. And if you're interested, Venetian Nails (right beside Walgreens) is great for a manicure and pedicure! The weather was horrible when we were there, so it was really nice to have a spot in a garage to get to and from the car without getting soaked or windblown. Based on our drive around the area, I bet it would be a beautiful place to stay in the spring/summer given all the trees and marinas and such. It's also a short cab ride to many restaurants, the Public Market, casinos, and breweries... overall, really comfortable and convenient for a couple (possibly a couple and one kid if the kid is fine sleeping on the couch).

  • Enjoyed our stay at 3D - very comfortable place, spacious, clean, quiet and felt like home.

    We appreciated Jo coming over to make sure that we were settled in and for the muffins and OJ for breakfast on the first morning.

    The location is close to downtown, and with underground parking is ideal if you are visiting with a car. Plenty of stores/restaurants in walking distance.

    There was some construction going on in the building - not a noise problem, but had to dodge the wet paint. This didnt spoil our stay however.

    Would recommend staying at 3D

  • There isn't much I can say about Bruce and Jo's apartment that hasn't already been said in past reviews. The apartment was clean and in the most perfect, convenient location. We were in Milwaukee for two weeks, for work, and felt as if we were in our own home. Bruce was very attentive and took care of any small issues that came up during our stay. Bruce and Jo, as hosts, should be considered the standard off of which other hosts model their rental process. I would not hesitate to stay at 3D next time my travels bring me to Milwaukee!
