Bright and airy 1970's modern camp on Somes Sound, Northeast Harbor Maine. Imagine waking up near the high tide mark, serenaded by sounds of seals and birds. With water and mountain views, you will be tempted to spend your days on the deck. However, we encourage your to venture into the mountains, walk or ride the carriage roads, kayak, take an ocean or fresh water swim or spend a day visiting neighboring islands--there is a multitude of options, for all ages, on Mount Desert Island Maine.

The space
Most people comment on how the house gives you a front row vantage point to experience the ocean and wildlife. The house is perfect for small families. All newish beds --very comfortable and we have maintained a well-stocked kitchen with updated bathroom--wonderful shower. There are spots to sit and enjoy the ocean throughout the house; little private porches and balcony upstairs as well as the large wraparound deck. You will feel yourself slowing down with so much serenity surrounding in all directions. The cleared beach below allows for exploring with an array of rocks that offer wonderful sun-warmed places to sit upon after a swim. 2025: Saturday is our turn-over day - pls bear in mind when choosing dates for your stay.

Guest access
Private bedroom downstairs with new queen bed with 1 large window and another interior/mirrored opening that can be opened or closed depending on your preference for privacy and/or view of ocean.

Other things to note
The Nub cottage is small but the deck that surrounds the house lends itself to a feeling of generousness of space inside. There is also an outdoor shower that offers a great way to warm up after a swim in the ocean--which is a lot warmer than open ocean waters, being a fjord. If you like to kayak, you can have shells delivered to enjoy all that Somes Sound has to offer. If your party exceeds our 4-person limit during April, May, September and October months with reduced rates, you will be subject to a higher nightly rate of $95 per person. Note: TV added upstairs in 2022-
Cameras: located only in the parking areas

I love to provide excellent hospitality and a comfortable experience. I spent a lot of time between Vermont and Maine and enjoy sharing what I am fortunate enough to wake up to, in both Maine and Vermont. I respect privacy and don't need to know your business however, if you need any suggestions on where to eat, visit, nice hikes etc, I will be happy to offer what I know! Vermont: Middlebury is a great little town and there are wonderful drives near and further out. Burlington is only about 50 minutes north and of course, it's Vermont--lots to do and see. Maine: My siblings are I love Maine and have been going there for many years. We have recently built a new house which we hope you will enjoy!
