The space

Spectacular floating home featured in a full spread in San Francisco Magazine and The Guardian and voted a top rental in America by TripAdvisor.

Located on Liberty Dock in exquisite Sausalito, this two-level house will host an unforgettable romantic getaway or fun family vacation. Teak floors, Italian tile kitchen & bath, 12 skylights, glass-encased dining room, roof-deck with barbeque, additional patio, and gorgeous indoor birch trunks are just a few of the amazing features of this singular home. Wi-Fi is available, beaches are very close and a maze of nearby hiking trails wind through coastal hills all the way north to Point Reyes. The full kitchen is ideal for cooking and comes fully equipped with everything you need.

Located just over the Golden Gate Bridge in exclusive Marin County, it's minutes away from downtown San Francisco but feels oceans away. It can be the perfect getaway for city-dwellers as well as a launching pad for those wanting to capture all San Francisco has to offer.

There can be no better place to stay in Sausalito! Shannon's houseboat was perfect. Clean, comfortable, beautiful rooftop deck, fantastic location, sunsets over Mt. Tam. You won't do any better. Liberty Dock is truly the best!

After a long day of travel, we were delighted to find our host, Shannon, had thoughtfully left wine and fruit as a welcome gift. (She even left saltines for us to feed to the 2 resident seagulls who showed up on the back deck every morning and evening.) We were thrilled to find Tobiko is a floating home with a full size kitchen, full size bathroom, 2 amply sized bedrooms, and an open concept living/dining area. Tobiko was well appointed and had everything we needed. (We did buy a hair dryer because I forgot to pack my travel dryer). One of our favorite spots on the boat was the roof top deck complete with comfy furniture and views of the Sausalito hills and the bay. A glass of wine on the roof top deck under the twinkling stars with a light sea breeze will cap off your evening and send you off to bed with sweet dreams:) The houseboat neighborhood is about a mile north of Sausalito, it was fun to walk the all docks and look at the fantastic variety of homes. If you're kayaking Richardson Bay, you can also visit the neighborhood by water. We found several restaurants and shops within walking distance - Mollie Stone's Grocery, Fish. restaurant on the water, Heath Ceramic Factory (if you like pottery), Bar Bocce on the water (play a game of bocce on the beach while you wait for your table and then order the pizza!) Sausalito was a terrific location to launch our wider explorations from. We went to San Francisco several times, and if you travel off hours - late morning or late evening - it's only a 15 minute drive across the Golden Gate Bridge. We commuted by ferry a few times also which is fun but involves more planning. The ferry stops running return trips from SF to Sausalito at 6:45/7:00PM so if you're going to stay in the city for dinner you'll have to take Uber, a cab, or the bus back. We also traveled north to Stinson beach, Point Reyes, and Mendocino - all worth checking out. We split them up into 3 different trips so we could spend time at each one and not feel rushed. Of course you can't visit this area without visiting the wine country. Tobiko is only about an hour from the wineries of Sonoma and Napa:) We thoroughly enjoyed living a different life for a few weeks this summer. Tobiko was a fun way to experience living on the water and a perfect base to explore new areas of northern California.

Shannon's floating home is a wonderful sanctuary and Shannon is a responsive and considerate host. Sausalito offers easy access to everything the Bay Area offers. The location of the boat on the dock is peaceful and provides beautiful views. I would absolutely stay again.

Shannon is a fantastic host - friendly, super responsive and very accommodating! My husband and I were working in Sausalito and spent a month on this unique floating home. We didn't want for a thing - it has a great kitchen, is spacious and super comfy. We made the most of the outdoor areas to unwind, relax and take in the gorgeous sunsets. The grocery store, public transport and the ferry to San Fran are all so convenient and accessible. Shannon's home is a little slice of paradise - food for the soul - can't wait to go back!!
