Nestled in the Bourbon Trail hills of Kentucky, rests Taylorsville Lakes only waterfront vacation community. Strategically placed; Cottage 37 sits on a ridge that overlooks the 3,050-acre lake and its 10,000 acres of wildlife preserve. The owners tried to capture the view from the kitchen table to inspire the cabins four-season theme. The wall hangings were chosen to mirror Kentucky’s beautiful hills, Derby culture, and the water of Taylorsville Lake.
NEW Spring '20 Paint, Guest bedroom update

The space
The mood has been set at Cottage 37 by the private owners who wanted a place to escape near a large underdeveloped lake. Recently renovated the interior designers paid tribute to its Kentucky Heritage from the hardware to the lighting. The door handles are unique canova knobbed black edged oil rubbed bronze; and its corresponding fixtures give homage to an old log cabin tucked away in the hills. To further the agenda of creating the perfect vacation environment dark colors of the new furnishings are used to accent the natural oak stained wood. Each light fixture promotes a different mood depending on its utility.

Upon arrival guests are welcomed by a lighted walkway up to the front door. The living room with new couches and lending library is the perfect place to read a book amongst the Flicker of the propane fireplace. A vaulted ceiling ties the living room and kitchen together. In the morning the sun rises over the lake giving the kitchen table the best place to watch the sunrise over Taylorsville Lake. A hallway leads to the main bathroom and guest bedroom. The guest bedroom has a 32-inch TV, two twin beds, and one trundle bed. The master bedroom and its atmosphere of romance has an ensuite bathroom with a soak tub. Off the master bedroom is a large 20 by 14ft deck with a Hot Tub. From the first deck a step-down to a second 10 by 14ft deck with a love glider and picnic table. The view from the deck overlooks Taylorsville Lake and the rolling hills.

Location

Taylorsville, Kentucky, United States

Edgewater Resort and Spa was commissioned in 2007 and is Taylorsville Lakes’ only development. The private gated community quickly grew to 40 cottages that are all privately owned and rarely come up for sale. What makes the land sacred is the relationship between the Federal Government which leased via the Army Corps of Engineers to the cottage owners. Ideally placed, Edgewater is a short bike ride away from Safe Harbor Marina where guests fish from the dock or launch a boat for a day of water recreation. There are many hiking and Equestrianism trails around the lake but the best kept secret may lie behind the Dam where the tailwater park is located. Besides the picnic area; a kayak or lazy river tubes can be launched for a 4-hour float down salt river where it drops off at Taylorsville City Ramp.

In 2017, The Weitz Family of Dayton, Ohio; joined the Edgewater Community as the owners of Cottage 37. Carpenters by trade; remodelers by default, we immediately embraced the project with a sense of offering a "luxury stay" in a remote setting. After updates to the cottage were made (including an expanded deck with seating area) we focused on mirroring Kentucky’s beautiful hills, Derby culture, and the water of Taylorsville Lake. We take great pride in our little Kentucky Home!
