Interaction with guests

Hi, I'm Vicki, the owner. In your room you will find a guide book that gives you lots of useful info. Internet codes, fun things to see and do, how to get around, local grocery stores etc. I have lived in the area for 40 years and I'm happy to give recommendations! You can call or text me at (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN). I give you your privacy but I am just a phone call away if you need anything.

You can also check out my blog for local events and off the beaten path attractions @ sunset house and (URL HIDDEN)

A little about the garden. The property is a certified wild life habitat. The gardens do not look like a traditional English style garden because I practice a system/lifestyle called permaculture. In a nutshell, a permanent culture that renews itself naturally.

Feel free to wander around, use the sitting areas and gas grill. It is not uncommon to see an Egret hunting for his dinner in the garden. We are also home to the endangered Monarch Butterflies. During your stay you are likely to see Oreo, a rescue bunny who lives in the garden. She is allowed to roam free. She enjoys human companionship but doesn't like to be picked up or pet.

I have soil restoration projects, rain water harvesting and composting on site. I'm happy to give garden tours and gardening tips upon request (to anyone who will listen).

The place was very cute and the gardens were nice. But other than that, the whole place was completely inappropriate. We went for a family trip for my fathers birthday so there were a few things that didn't seem completely appropriate for us, I guess we know now. But just as a fair warning: it's a house that gets divided into several apartments throughout the grounds but clearly some of the other tenants were smoking weed at all times. People were walking around the place with no shoes, braless, all sorts of things that just weren't appropriate. I don't mind them but if it's a family place, I think those things shouldn't be happening. Also, we arrived a bit early so we were walking the gardens with our dog and Vicki came out of the office and quickly stated that no dogs were allowed without a leash then she went back inside of her (URL HIDDEN) hello or your room will be ready shortly or any pleasantries. We figured it was okay for our dog to be without a leash as there was another dog walking around without one the whole 2 1/2 days that we were there. Finally, our dog was barking so I had to drive 45 minutes from downtown Tampa and miss an event I had paid for to stop my dog from barking. I understand that my dog barks and he might be a bit loud but she said that at 11:00 people were still sleeping and we needed to be (URL HIDDEN) supposed to be a pet friendly hotel so I expect that dogs might do dog things and in a pet friendly hotel that needs to be tolerated. My family and I had to cancel all of our plans for the day so that we could do things that accommodated dogs because we didn't want to leave him at the house in case he barked again. Overall a pretty bad experience. I really enjoyed Clearwater but I would have enjoyed it much more if we wouldn't have stayed at this place.

vicki's Sunset Gardens is the way an Airbnb should be! The unit was small but comfortable, very well stocked with all the things you might have to go out and buy. It is a very casual place and there is no TV, but it has a nice garden to relax in, friendly people staying there, and even three rabbits. I would gladly recommend this Airbnb to anyone. I stayed in the Hideout and didn't see any other units, but assume they are similar.

Great place! Great host! Very close to all kinds of stores and restaurants! Amazingly close to the beach, sure you could drive but you can easily ride a bike and or walk and get there in no time. Very great location and the neighborhood is calm and quiet at night so a good nights sleep is ensured.

The property was very clean and close driving distance to Dunedin and Clearwater beach. The kitchen was nicely stocked with the essentials to prepare breakfast. This location seems to be sort of like a hostel, so if you do not like seeing people outside and having people walking around outside your windows it's probably not for you. The bed is extremely firm and very short, so if you over 5'8 you probably will not be able to sleep comfortably. The water in the shower was either extremely cold or extremely hot, there was no way to make it a comfortable temperature. The walls of the apartment are very thin so if you're a light sleeper you may have a hard time falling asleep. When we arrived back to the apartment on Saturday night we were surprised to see that the parking lot was completely full. It was even more surprising to find a 15 person drum circle outside outside of our apartment. I spoke to the man in charge of the property and asked him where to park. He explained that the drum circle group was not supposed to park there but they did not listen. Rather than asking someone (that's not a paying guest) to move their vehicle he asked me to park in an empty lot next to the property. I found this unprofessional, as I've paid to stay here. We arrived back at 10:15 and the drum circle went on until midnight, we were unable to sleep. I understand this may not bother some people but I do think it should be advertised on the listing. It's not appropriate to just surprise your guests with that kind of noise until midnight. Overall the place was okay, but due to the noise, shower, and bed I would not stay here again.

It was very nice at Vicki's place and we recommend it for a stay north of Tampa / St. Pete. It is close (by car/lyft) to amazing beaches and Vicki's place allows you perfect space to relax, use the grill and your kitchen. It is also very clean and there are a lot of useful instructions what to do around Clearwater.

This was a very cool, quirky, and comfortable Airbnb experience! When we're back in the area we'll definitely try to book The Hideout, or one of the other charming cottages on Vicki's whimsical property. She is a wonderful hostess with stellar communication and recommendations, as well as respect for her guests' privacy and comfort. Great proximity to wonderful Dunedin and easy parking. Highly recommended, especially if you have an appreciation for a bohemian lifestyle!

Who me? Awww shucks.... I'm as low key and easy going as it gets. I love nature and I tend all the tropical gardens that you will see at my place. I'm a major a DIYer, pinterester and upcycled artist. I especially like yard art! Did you know you can make a chaise lounger out of a shopping cart?

I have 6 listings. 4 studio apartments, a 6 bed hostel and a house 3 blocks away. Hosting is my full time job. Do not hesitate to call me if you need something or want recommendations on where to go and what to do.

I play djembe drum and other percussion instruments. My partner Dave plays percussions and guitar. He also handcrafts and repairs acoustical and electric guitars and has a workshop on site. He also gives lessons. We host a wonderful drum circle at Sunset House and Gardens the 3rd Saturday of every month. Please join us! We have extra drums if you want to give it a try. We can also give you a free lesson prior to the drum circle.

Other interests of mine are permaculture, botany, art, theater, folklore, animals, creating upcycled art, environmental issues and kayaking.

My favorite vacation was a road trip out west with my camper and my dog. It lasted three months and I hiked all over Colorado, Utah and New Mexico. What scenery!

I adore culture and diversity! I love learning about different religions, foods, art, dancing, music, customs and folklore! I enjoy meeting people from all over the world.

My promise to you is that you will always be greeted with kindness, dignity and respect on my property.
