About This Listing
Recently renovated by 2 emerging Architects, this late 1820's Barn is unique. On the fringe of the CBD, Hobart's cultural attractions are just a short stroll away. Grab a coffee at Pigeon hole, an aperitif at Sidecar and dinner at Garagistes. Enjoy!
As designers our approach to the Barn has always been to keep as much of the (incredibly beautiful and richly textured) existing building fabric as possible. The original sandstone walls are exposed both internally and externally. The timber shingled roof and existing beams contrast with the new kitchen and bathroom insertion. The Barn is light and open, yet simultaneously cosy.
This is a very smart and contemporary accommodation in a fabulous neighbourhood.
We had originally booked Mona Pavillions - but think that that convenience of being in town , matched with the quality of the accommodation meant that how could we have justified the extra expence!
Bed was ridiculously comfy.
Try Ethos , Franklin, Pilgrim and Smolt from Liz's list - all fabulous
Also try Machine Cafe for a unpretentious , large portioned breaky
Thank you Elizabeth for opening up your beautiful creative space to us. We fell in love with the barn and all its idiosyncratic features, what a cleverly thought out conversion. And the funky, welcoming interior design, furniture and well thought through supplies were icing on the cake. I think we managed to tick off most of the suggestions on your list of places to eat and visit. They were all winners and really made our trip! I definitely recommend this cosy, creative and convenient space to any couple visiting Hobart. Yolanda and Marcel.
We loved staying at The Barn. We stayed there the night before and the night of our wedding. Spectacular place. Loved it all. It was challenging to get in touch with Liz with a few questions we had before our booking (she was away for a period) but aside from that little glitch everything was great. We even had a 5pm check out on the day after our wedding!!! Loved it. Will recommend it to interstate guests.
Great place to stay....cozy and warm....and a really cool fitout of an old barn. Location is great, and you will feel like a local. Elizabeth was a grat host, stocking up on wood for the fireplace. (Thanks, much needed on a cold night), and also provided a great list of local haunts and things to do.
Well worth the stay.
Fantastic stay in the heart of beautiful Hobart.
For design and architecture nerds, The Barn is amazing. Beautiful little details in all of the spaces create a homely but interesting place to rest your head.
Liz was helpful in booking and provided a very lengthy guide to the area with all her favourites which came very much in handy.
We will definitely stay again when next in Hobart.
We had a great three night stay in The Barn. The house is beautiful, very smartly designed and full of nice touches to make it all the more enjoyable, including the wood heater for Hobart's cool evenings. Liz was great leading up to our stay, suggesting local hotspots and favourites and providing helpful hints for Hobart and surrounds. The house is located tucked away behind a large block on a quiet street and is walking distance to Hobart CBD, good neighbouring cafes, pubs and restaurants, and also to the waterfront. If travelling as a pair I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else in Hobart. Very highly recommended.
