The space
Summer Moon is a stunningly beautiful villa surrounded by rice paddies and is a natural getaway for those who like peace and quiet surrounded by the sounds of nature.
Eco Home:
Sensitively designed by a resident Dutch couple using local materials and techniques, it is a traditional Indonesian villa using alang alang (grass) roof thatching and a minimalist open style indoor/outdoor garden-living concept.
We are an eco-friendly villa who encourages a low carbon footprint through conscious use of linens and electricity. Fresh linen, pool and bath towels are always available, as well as hangers for linens that can be reused. Please do remember to turn off lights, aircon and fans while not in use while visiting our cherished island.

All 3 air-conditioned bedrooms feature luxurious four-post king-sized beds draped romantically with netting, European mattresses and natural down feather pillows and bed covers.
Family Friendly:
This family friendly villa accommodates a maximum of 6 guests, this count includes infants and children. The villa has 1 baby/toddler cot available upon request and children's amenities for eating, a fully equipped kitchen and special services such as in-villa dining and in-villa massage upon request.
From the secluded upstairs bedroom and private yoga-sunbathing terrace you will catch glimpses of Mount Agung, the sacred centre of Bali, as it drifts in and out of clouds. In the morning you might hear the quacking ducks being let out into the rice fields as the sun rises through the coconut palms which line your private stream.
Massage Room:
This villa has a special massage room at the entrance overlooking the stream and rice fields with an adjacent private outdoor shower bathroom for rinsing off after massage.
Natural Surroundings:
Please note, because this is located in the middle of the rice fields, you are staying as a guest in part of natures delicate ecosystem of life. Rice fields come with critters such as frogs, geckos, crickets, cicada's, grass hoppers, dragon flies, butterflies and 100's of species of birds . While their beautiful songs will help you drift to sleep at night and wake you up in the morning, they sometimes make their way inside. The villa is sprayed regularly to keep as many of the more pest-like critters like ants, mosquitos and bugs outdoors, but we don't want to create a toxic environment for us humans to be living in either. But, if living next to nature isn't for you, please reconsider if Summer Moon is the right place for your vacation. We do have an eco-friendly bug-be-gone moisturizing spray for your skin made from Lemon Grass, Citronella and Clove, which is best used during dusk for mosquitoes.
Guest access
Guests have access to the full villa no matter how many guests are staying. You'll fall in love with the 4 uniquely designed rooms each with their own names - The Lotus Room, The Cobalt Room and the Jade Room, and the River Message Studio. (see detailed descriptions for each room in the notes section below)
In addition to your private villa with a 7 meter private pool, Summer Moon is part of a community of 9 other villas, each with access to its communal gardens and a communal pool. The communal pool is 14 meters long and ranges from .5 meters to 1.5 meters in depth, great for child playtime or laps for exercise.
Other things to note
Guests always say their favorite things about Summer Moon are the staff who come in to cook your breakfast and clean daily. It's true. They are so lovely. The other thing guests never tire of are the sunrises and sunsets. Finally, you'll catch a glimpse every once in a while of fireflies in the rice fields at night while relaxing outside.
Summer Moon has a private massage room and 3 bedrooms each with en-suite bathrooms, all with king size beds, 1 torch flashlight on bedside tables as well as Tuberose or Sedap Malam (in Bahasa) flowers in each room who's scents come alive during sunset.
The Massage Room - This room features a private massage bed overlooking the Desa Bulan private stream and rice fields that you can enjoy anytime. Our professionally trained massage staff are fluent in Balinese massage and Deep Tissue styles and offer aroma therapy scents during massage if desired. The massage room has an adjacent private outdoor shower bathroom for rinsing off after massage. Book through the WA contact information provided in the spa room or in the leather bound compendium inside the villa.
The Cobalt room - This is one of the larger bedrooms located in the front of the villa next to the entry porch. It features dark blinds facing the Eastern sunrise offering the darkest room to sleep in and the quietest to wake up in. It has a safety lock-box and a secret garden for privacy with lemon grass, galangal root and ginger growing between the Bird of Paradise flowering tropical plants. The lemon grass is a natural deterrent for mosquitos providing a bit of protection for the entire villa. And most exquisitely, the Cobalt room has a double shower and large bathtub giving guests a spa-like stay in this bedroom. (Please ask the staff to organize a flower bath to make your trip a memorable one.)
The Lotus room - While this is the smallest bedroom, the poolside location with rice field views that come into focus as you open your eyes in the morning, invisible water steps and the trickling sounds of the koi pond make this a favorite - especially for those who like to wake up to a lot of natural light and the sounds of ducks waddling and quacking along as they help the farmers aerate and prepare the land for the next rice crop planting. The Lotus room also features an organic vegetable garden for guests to enjoy when they find bits of ripe veggies and herbs. Farm to mouth is fun, but please be sure to share and leave some for the next guests to enjoy.
Jade room - This is the largest of the 3 bedrooms and has the special feature of two large windows facing the East and the West. It has a safety lock-box. This room too, will likely wake you up earlier in the morning with exceptional sunrise views as an option if you slowly lift those eyes open when the sun glows through your creamy white curtains. The large West facing balcony gives guests the best long distance view of the rice paddy farmland that stretches all of the way to the sun as it sets with a different light show each evening. The Jade room veranda is the best spot for yoga during the twilight and dusk hours. This room also features the largest, recently remodeled bathroom with a sitting bench shower.
