Our fully-contained suite is located in the thriving Inner Sunset district, a safe residential neighborhood which is one of San Francisco's most exciting destinations. There are many options for dining and just about every type of world cuisine is found in the excellent neighborhood restaurants.
The area is brimming with cafes, sports bars, retail shops, a post office, hardware store, drug store, laundromats, bakeries, a grocery market, and banks all within a five minute walk from the suite. There's a bustling Farmer's Market with organic produce and fresh artisan goods every Sunday.

The suite is an 8-minute walk to the University of California (UCSF) campus and medical center, convenient for anyone associated with the university or in need of a place to stay close to the hospital.
It's a 12-minute walk or 5-minute bus ride to the world-class Golden Gate Park museums. The M.H. de Young Museum features major art exhibits and free music concerts. The California Academy of Sciences offers educational entertainment for all ages including a planetarium, aquarium and indoor rain forest. The surrounding beauty of Golden Gate Park beckons for a picnic or enjoyment of the many attractions such as the Botanical Gardens, Rose Garden, and Stow Lake where you can rent canoes and paddle boats.
The area is best enjoyed without a car. The immediate street has a two-hour parking limit for non-residents from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Street cleaning is from 8 a.m. - 10 a.m. on the first and third Tuesdays of the month. Please pay close attention to all street signs and meters when parking anywhere in San Francisco, you could get a costly ticket if you are even one minute past the legal time. There is no time-limit on street parking two blocks uphill so that is an option if you have a car, however street cleaning regulations still apply. If you need to rent a car by the day or by the hour, there is a zipcar location as well as a few citycarshare locations within three blocks of the suite.
The neighborhood has streetcar and bus stops to anywhere in the city within a 3-4 minute walk. Our streetcar is the "N-Judah" metro train which will take you directly to the following areas. (Approximate times):

-Union Square/Moscone Center, 18 minutes
-Financial district, 20 minutes

-Castro district, 15 minutes, accessible by "K,L,M" trains at nearby Forest Hills station

Go to 511-dot-org for trip planning information.
-Our street is on a hill, not very steep but you will have to walk uphill for two blocks when returning from the neighborhood attractions.
-The entrance to the suite is through a very narrow private alley which is only 24 inches wide. Once at the door the area widens but walking through the alley alongside our house might feel a bit like threading a needle. Oversized items will have to be brought in through our garage by arrangement. The alley will accommodate average luggage sizes.
-The sofabed is not as comfortable as the main bed. It's best for children or adults flexible with comfort needs. Sleeping on the actual sofa instead of the pullout bed is also an option.
-No in-sink garbage disposal. (Food scraps go in the compost pail.)
-Three steps up to kitchen level, one step up to bathroom level
-Separate heaters in all three rooms (bedroom, kitchen, bathroom)
-The suite will be professionally cleaned every two weeks at additional $65 per cleaning.

San Francisco is a city of micro-climates and it can be very cold, even in the summer months. Because we are only 8-10 minutes from the beach, our area is known for being foggy but we have our share of sunny days as well. Always bring a warm jacket, long pants and dress in light layers as the climate can change dramatically on one streetcar ride.

Sylvia and Art have a great suite and were wonderful hosts. They were friendly, responsive, and helpful throughout the process of booking and checking in. I booked the suite for my parents who were visiting from out of town. They liked how quiet and comfortable the suite is and were very pleased with the amount of space they had. (The pictures don't do it justice.) The suite was clean and well-kept.
My parents liked that Sylvia and Art had provided recommendations of places to eat and things to see/do. They also flipped through several books about San Francisco in the suite and were excited to learn about other places to visit in the city.
My parents had to postpone their check-in time a couple hours because of travel delays, but Sylvia was completely understanding and even made sure to have the heated mattress pad turned on low for their arrival to make sure they would be completely comfortable. I know they appreciated that!
Sylvia and Art are great hosts! They are so nice and are really sincere about doing their best to make their guests comfortable. My personal favorite feature were all the heaters, especially the ones on the mattress. The neighborhood was so cool! So many good eats and very close to UCSF Medical Center. Parking was never an issue. I never drove around more than 3 minutes looking for parking and never parked more than 1 block away. Perfect place for 2. Would recommend to others.
Great place. Very convenient to UCSF Med Center.
Sylvia and Art's place is well-furnished and laid out. It's about a 10minute walk to UCSF Medical Center. The area is very quaint with many restaurants open late. I'm definitely going back to their place!!
Syl & Art's suite is a beautiful and comfortable place to stay and is located in a great area. They were extremely helpful and went above and beyond to make the stay wonderful!
Sylvia and Art were the most wonderful hosts--there when I needed them but, otherwise, gave me complete privacy. Their studio is exactly as depicted in the photos--comfortable, clean, and quiet with amenities such as a heated mattress pad on the very comfortable bed (handy for chilly San Francisco evenings!) and plenty of hot steamy water from the shower! A bonus is a private deck and yard. Plus, the apartment is just two blocks away from restaurants and stores and a short walk to Golden Gate Park. Being on the N-Judah line made it very handy to get to other parts of the city. I definitely recommend Sylvia and Art!
The SF suite exceed all my expectations! It is well appointed and is very comfortable. The bathroom is very nice with excellent water pressure.
Art and Syl have thought of every detail including motion sensing night lights that help you navigate your way. Their is ample sunshine for a ground level unit including a nice view of their large backyard. You have a lot of privacy on the space too.
Don't let the narrow alley way to the private entrance deter you! You will be rewarded!
I would definitely recommend the Suite to all solo or couples.
I'll never stay anywhere else in SF! Wonderful apartment and excellent location. Walking distance to great cafes, restaurants and bars. In addition to easy access to Golden Gate Park and Ocean Beach. Syl & Art were wonderful hosts. They had all the details covered plus more. The bed has heated blankets and is very comfortable. Kitchen/bathroom stocked with all the necessities.
Much more bigger than in the pictures!
Neighborhood was super quiet and safe + there is free parking close which is hard to find in SF. There is also a lot of different restaurant, bars and markets in walking distance so there is everything you need.
Muni was also close and it takes ~15min to get in downtown and 25min to Fishermans Wharf.
Syl & Art were perfect hosts. They allowed for early check-in and were very patient when we ran a half hour behind schedule. The suite was (truly) clean and comfortable. We run cold and still the heaters were sufficient to make the apt. very warm.
Syl & Art made themselves available, but were never pushy, nosy, or intrusive. Best of all, they were very quiet during evening and early morning hours so we were able to rest in peace. That was very appreciated!
