The best neighborhood in Tucson. The Old Barrio is known for being a spot were artists, musicians, creative businesses and professionals choose to live. One the of the last surviving original neighborhoods in Tucson, the Old Barrio is blocks away from downtown, and is the heart of the city. Everything is within a 10 minute walk including MOCA (art museum), the Convention center, the Gem show (early feb.), the best restaurants, bars and cafes in town. Prime location.
Most things are within walking distance, including the Tucson public buses.
The unique characteristics, style, and cleanliness of this home were excellent. This historic home was decorated exquisitely. It was the perfect location for a couples weekend with friends. Joel was well prepared for our arrival with clear instructions, great recommendations for local food which we took him up on, and all of our needs were met. Any minor issues we encountered were dealt with quickly and with great generosity and respect. We ultimately felt very pleased with our stay.
Joel when out of his way to make us feel very welcome. The house is truly unique. Adobe organic interior, rustic charm, and an mazing backyard. Its also in the coolest neighborhood of an up and coming city. A very unique experience.
My family and I stayed in the historic adobe home for 3that nights and we loved it. Joel was very clear and easy to be in touch with. The space was coo,l spacious, clean and in a very colorful, quiet and interesting part of town. We enjoyed being in the adobe and appreciated the old world charm of the home and neighborhood.
Very close to a great Ethiopian and "farm to table" type of breakfast spot with great coffee. Also just a few minutes to downtown shops and restaurants.
We would definitely come back, and rent this space again.
wow! i can only say the nicest things about joels beautiful house. me and my boyfriend had the most amazing time at this spacious and super tasteful place, which emanates great personality, calm and atmosphere. the AC cools down every room in no time, plus it's got fans in every room as well - a blessing. the house is located in a beautiful old quarter, close to everything yet absolutely quiet. contact with joel was always delightful, she responded fast and provided us with everything we needed in advance. top experience, we truly hated to leave.
So awesome. We felt so lucky to find such a comfortable and totally unique place to spend a few days in Tucson. I was excited by the pictures before we even arrived, but have to say they don't do the space justice. So roomy and airy and comfortable and cool (style cool and temp cool!). Great little back patio (shaded! which was a must in the 100 degree heat we had) and yard to sit and relax in. Speaking of (email hidden)e AC was the most effective industrial type setup I've ever seen in a home. If the super thick adobe walls didn't keep out the heat, the AC cooled the place down in no time.
We didn't end up using the kitchen as much as we thought we would (too many good restaurants to try!), but it was very well appointed for anything we might have needed. So handy to have washer/dryer too as we'd been traveling before we arrived in Tucson.
The neighborhood was perfect - super quiet and safe but super walkable to restaurants within a few blocks or a little bit further (still walkable) to downtown. It was such a cool little area to wander around.
Loved it and will definitely stay again next time we're in Tucson!
WOW! My wife and I just had the most incredible visit at Joel and Krysta's historic adobe home.
The house is unbelievably beautiful, tasteful, and located in a super safe, central and historic neighborhood. The pictures can't convey how perfect and restful the house is. Their attention to detail is fantastic, and the house is brimming with rustic authenticity, while still feeling homey and livable, we didn't feel like we were imposing.
We loved exploring the nature outside of Tucson, but ended up rushing back at night to fully enjoy evenings at home... and sleeping like a log (you can do that when the walls are a foot thick!).
Joel and Krysta had amazing tips for places to hike, eat, and drink, and everywhere we went they recomended, whether it was hiking or a lunch spot was excellent. They were also just generally helpful, accomodating, responsive, and pleasant to work with.
We can't wait to visit again soon!
