We have two guests rooms on the second floor of our home available. You may either book one or both rooms. The two bedrooms share one private bath.
Antique teachers desk with wifi printer. A closet for your use with plenty of room for all of your items.
We have two comfy bedrooms with private bathroom on the second floor of our cute and private antique cape home that was built in 1870. We can accommodate 1-4 people. Our home is not suitable for children under 12 or dog or cat guests.
You can either rent one or both rooms, depending on how many people are in your group.
***The listing is set up for double occupancy per room. If you are two people who want to use BOTH rooms, there will be an additional charge of $40 per night. If you are interested in this, please let me know and I will send you a "special offer".***
One bedroom has a full-sized bed with a down comforter for chilly nights. The second room has a queen sized bed also with down comforter. That room has a TV with cable. Both rooms have a desk and a comfy chair for lounging.
Both rooms have window a/c units in the summer. We have wifi that you are free to use.
The two bedrooms on the second floor have exclusive use of a nice sunny full bath. There are towels and travel sized toiletries for your use. The stairs leading up to second floor are somewhat narrow and steep so please keep that in mind. The rooms are not handicap accessible. Because the house style is antique cape, as typical, the second floor ceiling is low. If you are over 6 feet tall, you will need to duck your head going through the doorways on the second floor.
You may also use our kitchen for preparing a light breakfast and are welcome to use our fridge for storing leftovers, drinks, snacks, whatever you'd like.
There is plenty of parking in our driveway so you don't have to park on the street. We also have a large yard with gardens and a patio. I'll be glad to give you directions, hints and opinions on our favorite places to visit and eat. Salem has so many good restaurants but we are also very close to Peabody that has a lot of good places to eat and shop as well.
We have a 2 night minimum but if it's last minute and we aren't booked, please message me and we can possibly accommodate you.
***PLEASE note that we do have 2 LARGE friendly dogs, therefore, dog lovers are more than welcome. Although they are really good about not jumping on people, they still are big and strong. Though minimally, they occasionally bark, drool and shed. You'll LOVE them! Unfortunately, we do not permit dog or cat guests. Sorry.
Our house is not child proof. Due to this, we cannot accommodate children under the age of 12.
We look forward to meeting you!
P.S. For the security and comfort of all parties involved, you must have a "verified ID" badge on your profile prior to booking with us. This is how: https://www.airbnb.com/verify. You have use of the upstairs bathroom and either one or both bedrooms depending on which you reserve. As typical in an older home, the stairs going to the guest rooms are steep and narrow. They may not be best for those with physical limitations. My home is not handicap accessible.
We allow use the kitchen for preparation of a simple breakfast and the fridge for storing snacks and/or leftovers that you bring home. We have a Keurig that you are welcome to use to make coffee. We provide tea and coffee. Creamer and sugar is provided. Please feel free to spend time on the patio and in the yard and garden. Since we provide a tv in one of the guest rooms upstairs, the tv in the living room is not for guest use.
Interaction with Guests
We love chatting with our guests and getting to know people from all over and we hope you do too! However, we value our privacy and quiet time and we will definitely do the same for you.
We love that we are in the city, yet tucked up into our own private pocket in the trees.
Our home is close to downtown Salem, exactly 1 mile to the Salem Witch House, a 15 minute walk. You don't have to worry about parking during the busy Halloween season! Just park at our home and walk to all the festivities.
We are exactly one mile from the center of downtown, it's an easy walk through the historic district or a 3 minute cab ride. The city bus goes right past our house and has a stop very close by.
We are also within walking distance to the commuter rail (1 mile) that can bring you to points north like Rockport or Newburyport, or south to Boston. Our location provides easy access to 128. There is also a ferry from Salem to Boston that is a really nice ride. It runs seasonally from May 22 to October 31st.

Jana place was wonderful! She was there to greet me with her two beautiful and behaved dogs and let me know to make myself at home. The pictures don't do justice the warmth and coziness of Jana's home. I highly recommend staying here and I hope to myself in the future.
Jana's place is so tide and comfortable, we really enjoy our stay and hope to visit Jana again.
My mum and I were in Salem for Halloween, I highly recommend being in Salem for Halloween and I definitely recommend staying with Jana, Randy and their 2 gorgeous dogs Freya and Fergus.
From the minute my mum and I arrived til the minute we left Jana and Randy were the perfect hosts! The house was immaculate and the rooms we had rented where clean, nicely furnished and WOW my bed was comfortable! Mum really liked her bed as well. There is a private bathroom for guests only, which has nice soft towels and an array if toiletries for you to use, just remember to ask Jana how to work the shower, it's a little confusing! :) They have 2 beautiful dogs called Freya and Fergus (the soppiest dog in the world) who were both very friendly and loved a nice pat or throw their toys around the back yard!
There home is about a 20min walk to the heart of town and only a $6 cab ride home after a long day of walking around!
Jana was amazing, she gave us some great advice on what to see and where to eat, even joining us one night for dinner! Breakfast was out for us each morning and the coffee machine is REALLY easy to use. Which is a bonus especially if your a bit dopey in the morning like I am.
Jana is a really lovely person who I will definitely keep in touch with! I feel like I have made a friend for life! If I am ever in Salem again I will definitely stay with Jana and Randy.
Jana and Randy and pups were terrific. We felt so welcome in their home, and enjoyed our time there immensely - we hated to leave. Jana provided such a homey, comfortable haven for the weary travelers and keeps her house spotless - especially considering the pups! The pups were so cute and well behaved - no worries, there! They gave great recommendations for area restaurants, also. Next time we are in the area, we hope they have availability!
Jana and the pups were awesome! They made us feel welcome and went above and beyond our expectations. We stayed in the Queen bedroom and the bed was very comfortable and we had plenty of space for our bags. The bathroom was cute and very clean. The backyard had a nice area to sit outside and watch the dogs play. The house is only a few minutes from the historic district of Salem. This was our first stay not renting an entire place and because of Jana, we would do it again. She rocked it!
Jana was extremely helpful and went out of her way to make us welcome. The position of the accommodation was very good to access local facilities. The house was very well appointed and peaceful.
Jana and Randy were welcoming and sweet hosts. Lea and I are so happy to have spent time in their lovely home in Salem. The room was clean, accurately described, and the bathroom was fully stocked.
Jana is a dog loving homebody who loves to cook and garden. She works in the pet healthcare field. Randy enjoys reaping the benefits of Jana's hobbies and works in the auto industry. We have two large friendly dogs named Freya and Fergus who love visitors. Freya is a boxer and Fergus is what Jana calls a boxer muttski. The dogs like hosting so much that they are thinking about starting their own bnb ;)
We love meeting other interesting, friendly people. Come stay in our home with us!
