We have a light airy house in postcard-beautiful Plainfield, VT. Plainfield is a rural town in central Vermont within easy driving distance of skiing, hiking, swimming. A great location for seeing fall color on Vermont's back roads. Close to Montpelier, the state capital.
Equidistant between Boston and Montreal (3 hours each). You can walk (or run) for hours on the quiet dirt roads in the vicinity.
Room has a double bed with a brand new mattress, and is in a separate section of the house, that includes a roomy living room with TV and a futon that folds out into a second double bed. Space has a separate thermostat you can adjust.. Private bathroom includes a new tiled shower.
You are welcome to use our refrigerator. We enjoy providing breakfast.
For single night reservations l add a $10 cleaning fee.
Gail was a wonderful hostess. Her home was immaculately kept, cozy, and quiet. With beautiful views and the solace of the surrounding wilderness, Gail's is a great place to relax and recuperate. She and her husband provided us with a great breakfast and sincere conversation to start our day. I would definitely stay with her again, next time I find myself in VT.
Gail was great. The house was at the top of a moutain & nice. Nice room plus private lving room & bathroom.
Unfortunately my family was not able to Vermont and we weren't able to stay at Gail's beautiful home due to a blizzard in Maine. I did meet Gail the Friday before my family was supposed to arrive, and we had a really nice conversation over coffee in her living room. She was an amazing host just even for coffee, and we look forward to staying there some time in the future where the weather is more predictable :) Thanks Gail for all your flexibility in our travel plans!
Gail is the most wonderful host I have ever met. She made excellent breakfast in the morning for us. Specially we fell in love with the delicious Handmade Apple Butter. The house is one of the most beautiful houses I have seen in my life. The location is very scenic and is close to Montpelier and places like Cabot Cheese factory and Ben and Jerry's Ice-cream Factory. Gail is very friendly and helpful and the section of the house for Guests is very spacious. We could not have asked for a better place to stay for the vacation. We surely would love to stay here again sometime.
We had a lovely experience staying at Gail's residence. She has a beautiful home, and her and her husband welcomed us and made us feel very comfortable. Although we were in town for graduate work, staying at Gail's made it feel like a getaway vacation. Gail provided delicious, healthy breakfast and was so helpful if we needed anything at all. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to come back!
I had a lovely stay with Gail and Strat in Plainfield. I was in the area to celebrate with a friend who was graduating from Goddard College, and this was a perfect home base for that--an easy ten minute ride away.
The accommodations were comfortable and spacious, breakfast was delicious, and the company very enjoyable. I don't eat dairy or eggs, and Gail was happy to make an ample breakfast that I could enjoy, including vegan banana bread.
I can't really say more--this was an easy and enjoyable stay that met all of my needs perfectly. I very much enjoyed meeting the hosts, and would definitely stay here again if my plans take me back to the area.
Weeks before our arrival, I emailed Gail to let her know that we would be arriving by train, rather than car and so would be getting in quite a bit later than I had originally planned -- and she offered to pick us up at the train station! When we got to the house, after 10 pm, Gail and her husband were on hand to say hello and show us around. And for the rest of our stay they continued to be so warm and welcoming that hanging out with them was one of the best parts of being there. Their house and its surroundings are very beautiful, the guest bathroom is luxurious, and there are enough books on the shelves to keep you happy for a year, let alone a long weekend.
