About This Listing
My wife Georgia, our son Henry and I would be excited to welcome you into our home. You'll have a private room and bathroom and use of common areas. The McKinney square, with live music, food, shops and bars is walkable, and access to DFW is easy.
This is your bedroom. Placed in the front of house, you have lots of light and a view toward the front porch and side street. The bed is a queen temperpedic - very comfortable.
You'll have your own full bathroom, closet, and queen-sized tempurpedic bed. The bedroom has two sunny windows that allow you to see the porch and front yard.
We'll share our kitchen and living spaces with you, as well as our porch (my favorite place to be when the weather is right). When you wake up, you'll have a French press and ground coffee available for you to enjoy. WiFi is available to all guests for free. We have plenty of room for parking around the house.
Interaction with Guests
Georgia and I have loved getting to know many of our guests and enjoy visiting as time allows. However, we're happy to give our guests as much privacy as they prefer.
McKinney is an old community increasingly surrounded by the Dallas sprawl. Fortunately, its historic charm has been maintained. You'll see lots of early twentieth century homes. I've been told its the porch capital of the United States. Everyone has at least one - our house has two!
Within walking distance, you'll find the McKinney Square, a resurrected town center that is full of restaurants, bars, live music and plenty of shopping. It takes my wife and me about 5 minutes to walk there. We're happy to share our favorite spots with you - pizza, burgers, clothing and jewelry stores, beer, steaks, French cuisine, antiques, and of course, Mexican food are all within a 10 minute walk! There are plenty of chain restaurants and fast food within a short drive. We're a three minute drive from HWY 75.
Public transportation is unfortunately nonexistent in McKinney. However, we are walking distance from the square and everything it offers. Also, we don't mind lending our bikes out.
No smoking in the house, but outside is fine.
What a fabulous experience! Ryan and Georgia's bungalow is mindbogglingly wonderful. Clean, cute, comfortable, convenient. Their communication was friendly and open. We were able to text them questions about recommendations for things we needed nearby. The neighborhood was perfect for an evening walk, and the porch was a great sittin' spot to read a book. We will definitely be back if our travels bring us to the northeast Dallas area in the future!
Terrific experience from beginning to end. Perfect location and I felt very quickly like I was visiting friends rather than staying at somewhere for the first time. I hope to see Ryan, Georgia and Henry again both as a guest through Airbnb and as friends. Very clean, comfortable and welcoming, if you are traveling through the north Dallas area this is the best choice.
Ryan and Georgia were so gracious to allow us to book with them at the very last minute, when we decided we really wanted the true McKinney experience by staying near the square and not at some lame hotel off the interstate. Best decision we made during our entire week in TX.
Only allotting one travel day in McKinney? Worst decision we made during our entire week in TX.
Their neighborhood, in historic McKinney, is absolutely lovely, lined with trees and charming homes that all have a porch or two. It's a quick 10-minute walk to McKinney Square, where we had a lovely dinner and cozy breakfast the next morning. The square is a gem. It's rare to find these kinds of places these days, especially ones that are filled with storefronts that you'd actually want to spend your money in.
Their home has all the charm you would imagine a perfect cozy bungalow home to have--the photos actually don't do it justice. Shiplap-covered walls, a beautiful kitchen, all the lovely furniture pieces with so much character...while we didn't get a chance to spend much time in the home's different spaces, we enjoyed taking in the visual details.
The room itself was the cosiest room we'd ever stayed in. The space and lighting is perfect. The bed was amazing (too amazing) and the sheets were super soft...we kept hitting the snooze button and were half an hour late out the door. (You've been warned.) :) We didn't have much of a chance to chat with Ryan and Georgia because of our schedule but they were very friendly and welcoming, and gave us great tips for dining and the area in general.
We had a wonderful stay. If we ever have the pleasure of returning to McKinney, we'd love to stay with Ryan, Georgia and little Henry again.
I loved staying here. It was very cute and a beautiful home. Very close to to square. Ryan and his wife were so welcoming and nice. I'd love to stay there again!
Ryan and Georgia were wonderful hosts and their quaint little vintage bungalow was exactly as described. The bed was very comfortable the room clean and it was exactly what we needed for a night in McKinney. They were very welcoming and greeted us with coffee in the morning. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend their charming home to anyone.

About the Host, Ryan
My wife and I live in McKinney. We just had our first son, Henry, in January 2015. Georgia's a 4th grade teacher, and I work at a local marina on Lake Lewisville. We like traveling, listening to old records, sitting on the porch, being outside and meeting new people. We particularly love Latin America and have both spent some time living down there and spent our most recent trip down south backpacking through Costa Rica, Panama and Colombia.
Our newest love is of course Henry, our baby boy. We already traveled Colorado and Houston with him, and there is certainly more to come. He's met many of our AirBnB guests.
AirBnB has become central to travel for Georgia and me. We've stayed in Chicago, Charleston, Brooklyn, Rome, Florence, Orvieto, Puerto Rico, and Colombia through AirBnB. We've also been able to meet tons of incredible people from all over the US and the world by hosting guests. We've loved it all.
