Description

The space

Casa Fisolare can accommodate 4-5 persons, has a fully equipped kitchen and a washing machine, a dining room, a large garden overlooking the Piccolomini castle, the Tirino river valley and Campo Imperatore mountains in the Gran Sasso National Park area.
Two double bedrooms with wardrobes, bed sheets, 1 sofa bed in the living room and a bathroom with hairdryer and towels. The house was completely restored in 2013 with seismic criteria and is an excellent starting point for exploring the Abruzzo.

Guest access

Guests have access to the entire house, including the garden where there is a large fig tree that gives excellent fruits. There is private parking for a little car.

Interaction with guests

I am an Italian photographer in love Abruzzo. Personally I welcome my guests but after giving all the information I leave them in absolute freedom. I remain available for any need. I have another house in the country for my husband and me. We moved to Capestrano permanently from August 2016 after working in the North of Italy. We love the quiet life now and we like to observe the change of seasons. We also produce a small amount of olive oil that we like to leave the house for guests.

The neighborhood

The house is situated in a quiet part of the country. At night the village is all lit up, and only this view is worth a trip. A 1 km from the village, in the Valley, flows the River Tirino, which is a district of the National Park Gran Sasso-Monti della Laga, where you can go canoeing and if most experts with his or stroll along the banks and meditate in nature. In the square you will find two small market, in the morning also fruits and vegetables from a local man. There are pharmacy, bank, two beauticians, an ice cream shop and a pub restaurant. In the valley is an excellent restaurant to taste the crayfish. The people are lovely. Capestrano is exactly what you would expect in an old traditional Italian hilltop village. The little houses are squeezed cheek to jowl and extremely quirky. If you want to see the real Italy then don't hesitate to visite Capestrano.

Getting around

It is better to have a car available as places to visit are many! At the same distance of about 35 km you can visit both the mountain city of L'Aquila mail to 725 meters above sea level with its splendid Campo Imperatore 1800 meters altitude accessible by car (in summer) that the service cable car located Fonte Cerreto, or you can visit the other, more modern, seaside city, Pescara, on the Adriatic coast, lined with boutiques like cities like Rome and Milan, seafood restaurants or for people like me who does not eat meat also of great restaurants vegetarian. In the high Apennine mountains, at 25 minutes, the villages of Calascio with its ancient Rocca, famous for the delicious cheese and setting for many films like "Lady Hawke" with actors Rutger Hauer and Michelle Pfeiffer, "Francesco" the Italian director Liliana Cavani, " King David "with Richard Gere and the most recent" The American "with George Cloney; the village of Santo Stefano di Sessanio, known tourist destination, famous for lentils and full of local craft shops.
Near the river is the beautiful church of San Pietro ad Oratorium 1000. Also you can visit Sulmona, the city of the famous confetti and many other medieval villages. The nature of Abruzzo is green and lush. It produces an excellent oil and a great wine that you can buy and bring back. There are so many other things to do, but at home you will have brochures with information to discover this region, to eat and what to do. Now you just have to take the plane. The nearest airport is at Pescara, only 25 minutes by car, or in Rome, in an hour and a half.
Do not forget that you are at the center of three national parks!

Other things to note

The rental is for the full house and the whole garden, the perfect place to relax and watch the magnificent view of the valley and surrounding mountains while enjoying a good Montepulciano d'Abruzzo under the summer sky full of stars. In the Valle del Tirino, a couple of kilometers from home, flows a river that you can navigate with experienced guides.
All around is an explosion of wonderful nature, still unexplored and wild: there are beautiful trails and you can also book a guide.
But a few km you can also visit cities such as Sulmona, or shop in the nearby Pescara and break for a few hours the tranquility of the village.
This year, 25 to 27 August there will be the first edition of the Strano Film Festival of which I am the contact person for the area.

The house was lovely, situated in a picturesque village and a relaxing environment. From the first moment we saw Simonetta we felt at home, which was with products she prepared herself. Throughout the trip she helped us and recommended some lovely places.

Nice authentic stone home with modern wooden roof and high ceilings for the bedrooms. From all rooms spectacular views on both village castle and mountains. Hosts are committed on delivering a perfect stay while respecting the privacy. Being amidst the full force of nature some mosquitos might interfere with heaven, but only on the outside garden in summer. And only if they like you...

We thank you for choosing the Abruzzo, a region that seven years ago was hit by the earthquake. The shock that we have now are the resonance of what happened in New York. Here there was no earthquake .. However, the house was rebuilt with seismic systems and hence safe. It 'been emptied, have been redone in wood floors, wooden roof, chained all the walls and put a network in and outside the walls of the entire house. We wait again ... maybe next year we will also have the pool; O) Good life

Our stay in Capestrano was splendid, thanks to Simonetta's kindness and guidance. Her cottage is lovely, with breathtaking views of the castle and walled city, and she is eager to help with itinerary planning, suggestions for restaurants, and anything else you need. She even has brochures of the area, highlighting towns like Sulmona (a must see), as well as organic pear juice and Italian marmelade among her breakfast goodies. The location of Simonetta's place is fabulous, and enabled us to do day trips all over the Abruzzo region, exploring many fascinating walled, medieval cities and sampling local wines, cheeses and seafood. Just be sure to pack shower soap (we didn't, and had to buy some at the local farmacia), and know that the staircase to the second floor is quite steep if that is a concern for you (it wasn't for us). Overall, this was the experience of a lifetime; waking up in Simonetta's cottage and seeing the beautiful town of Capestrano out the window was truly magical. Simonetta is a gem, and we feel incredibly fortunate to have met her. We hope to return one day!

Even for me it was good... you have been perfect and very polite. I apologize very much for soap, usually always leave the soap to olive oil, we produce and I'm sorry that I have forgotten! Next time I'll put many, excuse me! Thank's Good Life :O)

A great house in a great location. Perfect for visiting Pescara and Sulmona and for exploring the national parks, visiting rocca Calassico and Campo Impatore. The village is quiet and peaceful and it was great to sit and watch the stars and wildlife. The house is great with everything you need and Simonetta is very helpful and happy to answer any questions.

Simonetta is an amazing person. In the short time we met she made every effort to make sure we were comfortable. She even left us pasta and sauce to cook for dinner and home made jam for breakfast. Also, the apartment is exactly as described the view of the castle is unbeatable.

This home is a little jewel! The owner, Simonetta, has paid particular attention to every detail. There is an aura of calm and joy reflected throughout. Fresh oranges, yogurt, and biscuits were a welcome find available for breakfast. The kitchen was well equipped and the bed was very comfortable. I would highly recommend this home for those who are looking for a charming stay.

It is always a treat for me to have a guest who appreciates the love with which I have tried to harmonize home fisolare. I could wish that more than a holiday home was a place of meditation. So thanks Nancy of your beautiful words, I feel that you enjoy. And that to me is the most important thing, with love, Simonetta
