About this listing

Private villa for rent in central Lovina with private swimming pool and more than 1000 m2 garden. The villa is built on top of a small hill with a gorgeous panorama view of the mountains and with only a 5-10 minutes walk to the beach.

The space

Private villa for rent in central Lovina with private swimming pool and more than 1000 m2 garden.

Lovina (short for Love Indonesia) is a coastal area on the North-western part of Bali, and here we have chosen to build our villa, Villa Juliani. The villa is situated in the village of Kalibukbuk in Central Lovina.

The villa is built on top of a small hill with a gorgeous panorama view of the mountains and with only a 5-10 minutes walk to the beach, stores and restaurants.

Lovina is one of pearls of Bali still unspoiled by mass tourism. A stay at Villa Juliani is a unique opportunity to experience the "real" Bali.

Om Swasti Astu!

The Villa

The villa is situated on top of a hill, and the garden is divided into terraces, which is why the villa is also called “Teras Juliani”.

The terraces have also been used for the villa, thus being formed with a split-level. Thus, the villa is built with a two-storey main building and a one-storey part (the split-level).

The ground floor contains a large living room and dining room with its own front terrace as well as an office. The first floor contains the master bedroom (more than 30 metres square) with teakwood floor and a balcony facing west, from which there is an unspoiled view towards the mountains. From here you will for instance be able to see the fantastic sunset.

The split-level contains two bedrooms with their own terrace facing east.

The ground floor also contains a bathroom with shower. The first floor contains a large bathroom with both bathtub and shower

The garden is built with sharp cut terraces with large green areas as well as a large swimming pool and connected sundeck – again with an unspoiled view towards the mountain. The swimming pool has a sunken bar, where you can sit in the shadow and enjoy freshly made juice or another drink of your choice. The garden also has a “bale bengong” or “sakepat” (a sort of gazebo) on the top terrace overviewing the swimming pool and the sundeck.

The villa is secluded from the main road. Therefore, there is no motor noise, and usually only Gamelan orchestras, dogs, hens and other typical Balinese village sounds are heard.

Guest access

The caretakers, Made and Kadek, live in a small house on the north-east corner of the ground. They will help you in any way necessary for you to have a memorable stay.

Interaction with guests

The caretakers are available all day around.

We went up to Lovina for the dolphin sighting experience. Lovina is pretty remote without much attraction for tourists other than the dolphin sighting. If you're looking for a quite place to relax and unwind then this is definitely the place for you. Made was also extremely prompt and helpful over email. I had a ton of questions about directions to the place, transport, access to restaurants and the beach since I knew the place was going to be pretty remote. She provided me with all the necessary information and our stay went off without a glitch. We were a party of 6 and stayed here for one night since the dolphin sighting happens really early in the morning. Since we were not inclined to going out for dinner the caretaker picked up our food from the restaurant and brought it to the villa. She also arranged the boat for the dolphin sighting 150.000 IDR/head and even gave my mom a ride on her two-wheeler as she had injured her knee and was unable to walk. The approach road to the villa is extremely steep which was a little troublesome for our cab drivers when we arrived. It is also very difficult if you want to turn your vehicle in to the parking space. However, there is an easier route, if you're on foot, in and out of the villa in the north-east corner near the caretaker's house. The beach is actually a 20-30 minute walk (we were strolling) so if you're not keen on walking then its best to arrange for transport to take you around. You will probably need to arrange for transport before you head to Lovina since we didn't find any vehicle rentals there and Made also informed me that there are no regular taxis in Lovina. The dolphin sighting was definitely worth traveling up north. An hour's boat ride from the beach and you're surrounded by at least dolphins swimming in pods all around. All in all a pleasant experience. Thank you Made for allowing us to stay at the villa and being so prompt and helpful.

Very clean and beautiful home. The pool is fantastic. Finding the place was difficult because the number listed is an international number. We figured it out. Breakfast was great and the view is amazing!

A beautiful, charming and charismatic villa in the center of kalibukbuk, very close to the Beach, restaurants and shops. Our welcome was perfect with a warm indonesian family waiting for us with drinks, and ready to help throughout our entité stay. Breakfast was delicious prepared by the indonesian Mother. I would definitely reccomend staying here, our expérience was amazing! Thank you Made!

My partner, my four year old son and I spent three night's at Made's house. The house is beautifully situated in a calm neighborhood and offers a lot of amenities - the pool is great and invites for relaxing hours, the garden is generous and beautiful and the house is spacious. The family on site (caretakers) helped us to organize a motorbike and to get all necessary information. During our stay there were some issues. But Made and Steven reacted very quickly by email and left no stone unturned to fix the issues with the caretakers on site. We felt well hosted and were pleased by their help. Altogether it was a good experience and we enjoyed our time.

Overall the villa is a really nice place. Nice surrounding and interior deco, big pool, comfortable beds, and Made was kind to allow 8 of us to stay at her place and provided extra mattresses. Kadek the caretaker kept the house really nice and clean and was very helpful. Unfortunately we arrived at a wrong timing and was faced with water pressure issues (villa is situated on a hill and pressure drops during high water consumption period by the surrounding houses. Pressure returns after the peak period.) and power rationing was imposed by the electric company until about 9pm at night. Made was quick to respond to the problems eventhough she was not on site and offered compensation to make up for the shortfall (which was out of her control) eventhough she was not obliged to. For this we are grateful for her kind offer. The place would be a full 5 stars if not for the unfortunate incident we faced. Overall I would recommend this place again.

We had a very good time at Villa Juliani. The villa is spacious with three great bedrooms and a nice pool. The owner, Made Juliani, was very kind to us, she had to risk a negative review to safe our booking. The beach and the touristic part of Kalibukbuk are within walkable distance, but renting bike or motorbike is adviced. Recommended!

Response from Made:
Simon, Thanks for the kind review. We will take a look at the showers when we are back in the villa and hopefully have them in better condition for future guests. Sorry about the misunderstanding - light breakfast should be included in the price. Hope to see you back at the villa sometime. Enjoy the rest of your stay in Indonesia. Kind regards, Made
