About this listing
Built in 1907 and recently renovated, this spacious home in the historic Belmont district is located walking distance to restaurants, and a short drive to Monticello, orchards, & hiking. It features modern amenities and thoughtful details.
A unique blend of historic and modern, this house is full of sunlight. The downstairs has a graceful sense of flow, one room to another. And upstairs are four bedrooms (one with a single bed and trundle and a balcony, one with a daybed and trundle and lofted ceiling, one with a single bed, one with a queen bed and lofted ceiling), bathroom with cast iron tub for retaining water's heat, laundry room, and art room/library/den. The house is our primary home, and as such is it fully stocked with everything you need: From white plates to games to linens to pantry staples.
Outside there is a deck with furniture and a coal-burning grill.
The entire house is available. There is a small office in separate unit in the backyard which may be intermittently used during guests' stay.
Interaction with guests
We leave guests with a comprehensive manual for the neighborhood and environs, as well as information about the house, but we are easily accessible and happy to help as well!
Belmont is amazing. It has its own thriving downtown just 2 blocks away from the house. Three of Charlottesville's most beloved restaurants light up the area--The Local, Mas, and Tavola. In addition, there is a coffeehouse, a BBQ restaurant, and two friendly convenience stores. There are two playgrounds in the neighborhood, and the Rivanna trail is in walking distance from the house. For those that want more options, Charlottesville's historic downtown mall is just a 10 minute walk. Restaurants, shops, music venues, bookstores, an ice skating rink, gelato, a crepe stand, tacos, and a movie theater are all in walking distance. Venturing further out, there is a walking trail to Jefferson's Monticello within 5 minutes drive (or Monticello itself can be reached in 10 minutes drive), as well as an apple orchard with phenomenal views, biking trails along the river, and further afield there is top-notch hiking in the Blue Ridge mountains.
The house is located on the bus route, and the bus transit center is within a 10 minute walk on the downtown mall. From that point there is a free trolley which takes visitors to the University of Virginia in just a few minutes. A car is not required to be able to enjoy much of what Charlottesville has to offer.
Other things to note
IMPORTANT: We have two cats who will stay on the premises during your stay. Please make sure that no member of your party is allergic to cats, as we can't sequester them or remove them. You can choose to care for them, or we are happy to do it, but this means we'll have to enter the house once a day.
Also, during UVA graduation, we do have a 3 night minimum. If you choose to not stay for 3 nights we may be able to arrange a modified price structure.
Our cats live on the premises. Because of this, the house is not appropriate for guests with allergies. Please make sure none of your guests have allergies before making a reservation. No pets are allowed, nor is smoking (inside or outside the house).
Cancel up to 5 days before your trip and get a full refund, including service fees.
