  • The postitive: the flat is beautiful and really unique. The room was large and all of the amenities in the apartment were modern and beautiful. The location was good, within walking distance to everything in the city.
The negative: Although the listing is under Willem's name, it is for all intents and purposes run by a man who runs a laundromat downstairs, Mustafa. Mustafa is the one who handles the keys, cleaning, everything esentially. When we arrrived nothing was clean or ready for us, despite it being past the time that Willem said the room would be ready for us. It took 3-4 more hours to get it ready. Even after they cleaned the room, there was still large amounts of mold in the shower, hairs in my bed, and the common areas were just gross, poorly kept up. No one has swept or cleaned the kitchen table in ages. There was no hand soap in the bathroom. We also requested another set of keys because we were three people and only had one set.
I sent Willem a message to adreress these issues. Although he was kind via email, it was Mustafa whose job it became to fix these issues. He came into the apartment and was shouting at me, telling me that the mold was unavoidable and hairs in the bed are no problem. Never ended up getting any soap, despite my various requests. Although the overall grossness of the flat was annoying, the way Mustafa spoke to me was completely unacceptable. He was putting his hand in my face, trying to shut me up, just shouting at me. I was very disappointed with Willem's lack of an apology. He just made excuses for the pathetic excuse of customer service that Mustafa provided. Save yourself the trouble and stay elsewhere. Although the place is nice, dealing with Mustafa really put a damper on my stay. Easily one of the rudest people I've encountered on this site. A real disgrace to airbnb.

  • great location in a nice area ( oud west) of amsterdam with perfect connections to the tram system. just approx. 7 min to centraal station by tram. good restaurants, bakeries and supermarket around the corner. typical dutch house with really steep stairs and narrow facades. there are two other rooms, so you share the living room and kitchen ( good be a bit cleaner) with the other guests. although the arrival and the departure of the whole house seemed to be busy, we felt comfortable and always had a good rest during night. all in all we can recommend this accomodation ( maybe not for elderly people or for people who prefer a sterile area :-)...)

  • Overall, a good experience! The room is the perfect size for three people, and the common area (living room/kitchen) were spacious and well furnished. The apartment is in a perfect location for seeing the city! The only odd thing was that when we arrived at 9:00am the morning of our check in, the previous renters were still in the room. This wasn't a huge problem, as we were able to leave our bags in the living room and go about our day in Amsterdam, but when we got back to the apartment around 9:00pm that night, the cleaners next door who had given us the apartment key was closed and we thought we couldn't get into our room! We eventually realized that the room key had been left for us on the dining room table, had a laugh about it, and had no trouble whatsoever after that. The flexible check-in/check-out time was just a bit confusing, that's all! Oh, and also the stairs going up to the apartment are pretty steep. Not a problem for youngsters like us, but less mobile folks might have a problem with them!

  • Loved our stay! Very cute apartment within walking distance to everything. Cute neighborhood with lots of cafés and restaurants. Very close to the park where all of the locals hang out. Overall, great location, wonderful apartment, and we will definitely return in the future!

  • The location of this bnb is perfect! Within a short walk to all the fun stuff, but just far enough for a quiet night's sleep. It was clean, and the bed was comfortable. The flat was nicely decorated, and had good amenities. We weren't aware to check in with the gent at the laundromat, so that caused a bit of confusion at first, but once sorted, everything was great :)

  • Appartement agréable et bien situé. Seul bémol, nous n'avons pas croisé Willem pendant les 5 jours donc pas d'échange possible. Dommage !

  • Willem wasn't there during our stay and that showed few issues with different guests and different attitudes to basic house rules ;)
Local help kept on referring us to Willem with our queries; even with password for Internet access, we did not have for the first couple of days.

The place is conveniently located in relation to Amsterdam attractions, close to public transport etc.

The place definitely needs a host presence to enforce few cleaning standards, before, during and after guests arrive. Cleaning services Willem is using leave a lot to desire. We were not after "hospital grade" cleanliness, but our stay would have been lot more enjoyable had the place seen a vacuum cleaner or mould removal in the bathroom.

We had no room to place our things in, so had to live out of a suitcase for a week. Wardrobe and cabinets were full of stuff (old linen, boxes, computer bits) and we did not feel comfortable moving/removing it just for our stay.

Willem tried to get the place cleaned up (remotely), so some things have moved from inside the wardrobe to its top :( - all a night before Willem's expected return; just before our departure.

The room was without the lock, again, until the day before Willem's expected return, so we had to carry all our valuables with us all the time.

  • The flat was very nice and spatious and well located, BUT, it was unfortunately dirty. The kitchen and dining was a terrible mess (rotting food, lack of cutlery, rusting pots, wasted freezer so filled with ice it wouldn't close and was dripping all over the food in the fridge... and so on). Obviously it's not really taken care of.
Also the guy that handed us the keys would just come up whenever (like at 10.30pm) and go around rumaging through stuff and making noise and not even saying "hi", which did make us feel quite "not at home" and wasnt very comfortable.
Some of informations on what's in and around (garbage infos, shops....) would have been welcome. Room was fine and comfy.
