Four of us (recent law school graduates) stayed at Casa Colibri for three weeks to study for the bar exam (and to enjoy Antigua during our study breaks). Since we were studying so much we spent a lot of time at the house (and nearby cafes). We found the house to be very comfortable and relaxing. The courtyards are gorgeous and very comfortable. Transport from the airport (with Rolando) was very smooth...Rolando is great to talk to if you know a little bit of Spanish. Samara (who comes by the house twice per week for general housekeeping) also cooked dinner for us about 5 times and we loved her cooking. She was a wonderful person in general! The house is fully equipped and we did not need to provide any of the bare essentials (except paying for refills of the pure water, 27 Q for five gallons delivered to the house). Wi-fi works very well (all four of us were streaming video simultaneously with only minor issues) from the two patios, the main living room, and one of the bedrooms (but there is no signal in the other three bedrooms)...there were only a few temporary outages during our stay. The house is about a 10 minute walk to Parque Central and we made the walk from the center of town as a group, late at night, many times...there is a section of the walk that is a bit isolated and dark, but we never once felt that we were in any sort of danger during our three weeks here. Alessandra was very prompt with responding to all of our questions and concerns, both before and during the trip. Highly recommend staying at this house!
Alessandra and Samara were both very helpful, kind, and easy to work with.
The house was much more impressive than what we expected from the listing.
The neighbourhood was quiet and safe, a short walk to the hussle and buzzle of town.
Beautiful house, great space, location and amenities! Alessandra was a brilliant, attentive host. Would definitely recommend staying here if you have the pleasure to stay in Antigua!
Charming colonial house in a beautiful neighborhood just minutes away from the heart of Antigua. Quiet, private, spacious- everything my group and I were looking for during our stay. A friendly housekeeper was there to greet us on day 1, give us a tour of the house and its amenities, and anything else that we may have needed was there. The house also provided a cell phone and various sets of keys, which were super helpful when our crew went separate ways during the day. This place is perfect for a larger group of people looking to have a more intimate and private setting than that which the top-tier hotels in Antigua can offer. 10/10 all around- Thank you Alessandra!
This is a beautiful home and extremely welcoming. Our family of six stayed here during the Easter processions. The house is conveniently located to Central Park and all area sites, but not so close to have any noise or congestion. 10 minute walk to the fountain. Our favorite restaurant was just 2 minutes from the front door. Sorry, I forgot the name. We felt very safe. The house is in a neighborhood with private security and secure parking. You won't be disappointed. Highly recommended. Thank you Alessandra for opening your amazing home.
Four of us were headed to Antigua without knowing that it was Holy Week. Hotels were all booked but it was a blessing in disguise when we got a 5-days spot at Alessandra's house. It's amazingly beautiful and the perfect place for our inspiration trip! It is located in a quiet area (far from the holiday crowd at Centro) and the sound of the fountain is very soothing.
Alessandra made us all feel at home. She gave us tips and suggested a driver, in case we need a private transport to go outside Antigua. She even left a local mobile phone for us to use which came in very handy!
I've sent her so many questions and she replied quickly even though she's in a remote area outside Guatemala.
Hospitality + Great Hostess + Beautiful House = Priceless Experience
If we ever go back to Antigua, we will definitely book Casa Colibri again. No second thoughts.
The Casa Colibrí was better than we expected! We expected a nice house, but it was more unique, more comfortable, more enchanting than we'd hoped. It was the highlight of my 65 year-old dad's stay in Guatemala. He told me several times while walking the cobble stones of the ancient city that he'd rather be back at the Casa Colbirí.
The neighborhood is behind two iron gates, a little removed from Antigua. It would take my family about 15 minutes to walk to the main square (I have a 4 yr-old and 65 yr old). The coffee was excellent! The pot was always full. And we loved telling stories at night in the outdoor patio by the light of about 15 candles. Memories for a life time.
Alessandra organized a cook to make us breakfast one morning for about $30 (including ingredients). It was worth it!
I'd definitely stay here again if we make it back to the enchanted city of Antigua.
