My cool little house is spacious and cozy. The spare bedroom fits 1 or 2 people nicely. My little dog Twiggy and I invite you in to share our space for your time in town. Centrally located a skip away from historic downtown Halifax.
Room in 1 1/2 storey mid century north end house. On 2 major bus routes, the #7 and the #9. Its a 5 minute cab to downtown and we have parking
Its a small 2 bedroom house with an open concept main floor. You will have access to the kitchen, washer/dryer, wireless internet and tv. You can also enjoy the back yard with patio garden, and bbq.
Your room has a double mattress and box spring that is fully geared with down comforter. There is a closet and some shelving and great desk (used to be a post office sorting table).
You will have to put up with a small dachshund, Twiggy. She is super friendly. If you felt like checking out the neighbourhood you could always take Twig around the block or to the historic "fort needham" dog park.
There is a pharmacy 4 doors up and supermarket about a 15 minute walk away. A short walk away is the unique shopping strip called the "Hydrostone Market". Here you will find some great shops. There are a couple awsome quality local arts and gift shops, a yummy bakery and some delicious restaurants.
I think this gives you a pretty nice idea of the accommodations and the area, but I'd be glad to answer any questions you have.
*I was given feedback from a guest regarding the lighting situation so I feel it only fair to mention... I am not super fond of overhead lighting so many rooms do NOT have overhead, but instead ambient lamps. There IS however overhead lighting in the kitchen, bathroom, the smaller bedroom and all the hallways.
*It is an old house and the stairs from main floor to upstairs are a little bit creaky.
Guests have access to the whole main floor of the house. Kitchen, living room, back deck with bbq. There is parking and 2 major buses pass right by.
I really enjoyed my 3 week stay at Jessy’s great home during the winter with so much snow. She and her dog twiggy are wonderful hosts, always helpful and friendly. It is pretty easy to share her beatyful house with her. I felt as much at home as you possibly can at someone else's house. The house is really bright and so nice decorated. I loved it. The room has a nice size and has all you need. I really enjoyed my stay at Jessy’s home and totally recommend staying there!
Jessy was awesome for accommodating my late request to stay at her place.
The room is lovely and the house is quaint. Only a 5-10 minute walk to the Hydrostone Market if you feel like a pastry for breakfast. Downtown Halifax is easily accessible by public transport which makes things easy.
Jessy was great to have a chat with at night and happy to give advice/info on things to do.
Can definitely recommend staying at Jessy's if you're in Halifax!!
I really enjoy my one week stay at Jessy’s house. The house is cute, clean and located in a quite and nice area. At the crossroads near the house, there are a drugstore and a liquor store (like LCBO in Ontario). The historical Hydrostone market is just 6-10 minute walk where you can eat or simply enjoy nice latte with croissant in the morning. Near this Hydrostone market across the street you can see a beautiful Fort Needham Memorial Park and Halifax Explosion Memorial Bell Tower which is good for picnic and strolling. To explore Halifax from the house there are 2 bus lines; the bus #9 pass in front of the house and bus #7 is just a-minute-walk distance, or you can walk on the nice streets full of trees to downtown. During my stay I had the house for myself which was awesome. I really felt at home. Jessy was friendly and easy to contact by text messages when I had questions, the check-in and check-out was so simple. I would definitely recommend Jessy’s house both for those who travel to Halifax alone/couple or for family renting the entire house. Great experience!
We had a wonderful time staying with Jessy. She was there to welcome us and made us feel at home throughout our stay. The house was beautifully decorated and impeccably clean, it was a pleasure to stay there. The bed was comfortable and we had everything we needed. Would love to stay with Jessy and Twiggy again!
Clean and neat just as advertised. Reservation went off without a hitch. Would definitely recommend.
We stayed with Jessy for five nights while we had to wait for our sidecar. We enjoyed the stay a lot! She has a nice house and we were sunbathing in her garden when we were not in town.
Very clean and cozy, in a quiet neighborhood with excellent access to bus line 7 and 9.
We can definitely recommend staying with Jessy!
Jessy and Twiggy are wonderful hosts. They made me feel very welcome and cared for during my transition to the city of Halifax to begin a new job. Jessy is accommodating and easy-going. And it was always lovely to have Twiggy's wagging tail and eager big eyes welcome me back at the end of the working day. I happily recommend Jessy's 'nice room in a cool little house' to those looking for a quiet, comfortable stay in Halifax, which incidentally is one of the most friendly cities I've lived in.
