The Space

SPOTLESS CLEAN!!! + AMAZING CAMBRIDGE LOCATION!!!

LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION!
We are located on historic tree lined Bigelow Street (and Massachusetts Ave.). Across from the gorgeous City Hall Green! - Absolutely central to everything! The #1 Mass. Ave bus is at the bottom of our street (literally 4 houses away), and the redline T(subway) is 1 1/2 blocks away. AND the city just installed an awesome brand new Hubway bike rental station at the bottom of our street!

The street itself is quiet, yet STEPS away from all the great coffee shops, award wining restaurants, bookstores, Whole Foods grocery, shopping, pubs, music, etc! You can walk to both Harvard or MIT in minutes!!! You can easily get to all the Boston Hospitals as well. Believe me our location is fantastic and easy accessible to everything! You will not be disappointed!

STAY IN AN ARCHITECTURE'S RENOVATED CARRIAGE HOUSE LOFT!
Our duplex loft was renovated by NYC's Eric Lifton of Mesh Architects!!! ((website hidden))!
Not only did they keep the original historic carriage house details, but they also included several of their staple light fixtures throughout!

The first floor includes an open floorspace with kitchen, a small floor-ceiling tiled bathroom complete with shampoo, conditioner, soap, and of course cream for those dry skins... Other amenities include: Fabulously fresh and clean high count cotton linens, towels, WIFI, yard with organic raised vegetable garden (when in season), and grill. The second floor balcony has a full high-end sofa bed with foam mattress padding which of course will be made up and ready for your arrival with the most fabulous cotton linens for your pampering!

Please email me if you have any questions. We adore living here, and as foodies - can supply you with great names of restaurants and places to hear great music, dance, etc. Also several of our airbnb guests have left their own insights of places they enjoyed.

NOTE: PLEASE INQUIRE FIRST before booking anything. Even though our calendar lists as unavailable we may be able to accomodate you so please inquire about your dates and we'll see what we can do.

ABOSLUTELY NO SMOKERS PLEASE!!!
Washer/Dryer coin op. access if needed. There are also a few laundromats and services at bottom of street. For long stays (2+ weeks) there will be an additional $100 cleaning fee.

Events: if you're interested in hosting an event here it is OK but the rate is different (obviously higher) and we must approve it first.

  • This was my first airbnb experience and it was fabulous! Louisa was fabulously friendly and accommodating, the loft was gorgeous and comfortable and creative and filled with beautiful art, the neighborhood was lovely and within walking distance of many wonderful spots and all the conveniences you'd ever need. The personal touches were so lovely - an umbrella in case of rain, fresh flowers, yummy (email hidden)aying here made me feel a part of Cambridge, and I loved it!

  • A very cool space in a great location. Louisa was very helpful and accommodating with my arrival time. I definitely recommend and would stay here again. Thanks Louisa

  • Louisa was amazing! Her loft is very cool, spacious and clean. The pre-arrival communication was spot on and she made sure everything was the ideal fit for my colleagues staying in boston. I would highly recommend her place.

Plus she also happens to be a seriously incredible artist, which my team mates loved!

  • Louisa was a perfect host and her loft is truly unique. Pictures don't really capture how cool it is. It is also a very quiet spot, but very convenient to everything.

  • Louisa's place is beautiful. A two level artist studio in a coach house behind her home. The studio is on the ground floor and the loft has a large comfortable bed. Wood floors throughout. The artwork is all by her and it looks great. The studio is spotless. Louisa leaves out a nice chocolate bar with the towels as a welcome.

Louisa herself was very nice and interesting to talk to. Also very responsive to emails. I would definitely recommend her place and also her artwork.

  • The place is nice, artsy and very convenient. Steps away from the red line T stop and all the restaurants/bar central square has to offer. I choose it for my parents to stay, and I liked it in particularly because it was close to my own apartment. I would recommend this to younger couple though. The gate/path in to the house was a bit dark and easy to trip. Not ideal for older people. Otherwise, the place is clean and big for two people. Make sure you don't run into problems of getting to the place, they have very strict and not very empathetic cancellation/changing policies.

    Response from Louisa:

When Dannie first inquired we told her we were out of town, but if she really wanted the space for her parents we'd figure out a way to have someone setup the loft and cut our vacation short in order to come home early to prepare it for her. At that time she said she understood, and she would very much appreciate it, and happily made the reservation. FF to Dannie asking for a refund for arriving a day late. There was no flight delay, no engine trouble, no unforeseen disasters - They just missed their flight and decided to come a day late. We said in this circumstance, we didn't feel comfortable with giving a refund for that night as we had already cut our vacation short, and inconvenienced other people in order to make sure the loft was spotless and ready for her arrival. Airbnb has a refund policy which is listed on every hosts page. I've been an airbnb guest several times in the past, and at times our plans got messed up and I would never try to blame my own mistake on someone else as Dannie is trying to do here. Once we did not agree to the refund she came back with ridiculous complaint after complaint about our loft - Which is pretty obvious as seen from all our fantastic guests' reviews (and many refunds we've given due to unforeseen circumstances) that Danny was just trying to get out of paying what she owed.

  • Lousia and Jamie are great! We needed a place to stay while our new home was being finished. They were so accommodating and helpful as our schedule kept changing - even resolving with an air conditioning issue late on a Sunday evening! The space is great, in a convenient location to great dining and bars while still being very quiet and private. Great spot and great hosts!

  • Louisa's loft is in a fantastic location, has beautiful and interesting design, filled with Louisa's art and is very clean. My family stayed in Louisa's loft during my wedding week, and my family, friends and I had a wonderful time. Thank you Louisa!

  • Louisa is fabulous and her loft immaculate and funky. I loved looking at her art during our stay. We had a fridge stocked with sparkling water and wine, both coffee and tea, and a little chocolate surprise too. The bed was very comfortable and the work / kitchen space fantastic. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. Louisa is very generous and easy to work with. She also gave us a lunch recommendation "Life Alive" and it was delicious and right up our alley.
